@themindfulnarrowboat I have done my own journals but moved on to more artist pursuits Vanessa, might start again but not very mobile these days. Mostly what I see now is from the car or my back yard which flows right on to a beautiful park in this pretty little town

Oh Vanessa you outdid yourself today.. the photos of the ducks (I could never duck dive boo hoo) and the swan with the diamond drops of water on her feathers was just stunning, I just had to capture a shot of that for a future drawing. Question: (like I never ever ask any LOL) has Zeph ever jumped overboard when you're travelling? I continually am amazed that she never seems to bark and the wildlife she's amazing!!

Greetings from very hot (high 30's C deg) and very wet WA. Up north our folk have had the worst floods in history, over east its not much better..here in Bridgy we are lucky if we see a cloud in the sky and are busy watching out for bushfires...its a crazy world. In the UK you are freezing your bum off... poor Vanessa... warm hugs to you and big thanks for stepping outside your comfort zone, although really you do thrive once out and about. Your bird photography in this video is beautiful. Aren't you clever teaching Zephyr to wipe her feet or was that a fluke?? Poor AG she's looking a bit worse for wear, Mr M will have some sanding and painting to do once things warm up. Take care, keep warm.....

@themindfulnarrowboat all good here :) Frozen in huh?? What do you do if your loo fills up? BTW I love your kettle.. Do you have a problem with your bio oil solidifying in the cold like it does if you put oil in the fridge?
1
Do you mean ALS Sandy? How aweful for your sister and the family. Hugs to you all from Western Australia 🤗🙏🌹stay strong.
1
@sandyprosser805 ALL, ALS all dreadful diseases...Best wishes to you all Sandy, make this Christmas your best ever!!! cheers from Oz

Im not a royalist either Vanessa (a sad day for the UK and many others for sure) but thankyou for putting your thoughts out there...you had me in tears too....love and hugs from WA

Forgot to add..loved the way you sped up the end of your poem..how many times did you practice that?🤭🤭
1
The serenity of your walks. I noticed a beautiful blue butterfly, so delicate, not sure if it was in this one or the previous one you have so much to comment on I lose track....Primroses one of my favourite flowers, and violets...I remember way back when, when you used to be able to buy bunches of violets at the florist...a thing of the past but they always reminded me of my UK Gran. thanks for the memories Vanessa...

That water was coming in fast wasnt it but Im sure if you had just slowed down the video it might have eased the stress 🤭🤭🤭🤭Aussie humour...

Oh Mr M you are naughty!! 🤭🤭 poor Vanessa...I nearly swallowed my sandwich!! Not the prettiest journey but you still make it fun & interesting. Love the snowdrops and the daffs were gorgeous.

Better luck next time Vanessa... :)

Oh those bugs!! My favourite artist of all time Canadian Cory Trepanier (RIP) used to hike the Canadian Arctic with his camera and oil paints and paint in similar conditions with thousands of mosquitoes to contend with.. Here it was absolutely at sub zero temps and he would be picking the mozzies off his painting and spitting them out of his mouth too...if he can do it Vanessa so can you. You are both awesome!! BTW what an fantastic legacy for sir David A...and great that Zephyr could explore it too...you dont get that in Oz...dogs arent normally allowed on public transport I dont believe nor in National Parks...Zeph couldnt wait to get on that tram!
1
You have so many gorgeous species of ducks, do you mind if I take a photo from your channel eg the mallard I would love to draw and paint it please Vanessa? Oh boy you must only have an inch or two between Alice Grace and the lock walls....such a tight squeeze...take care..cheers from WA :)

@themindfulnarrowboat thank you so much
1
I was waiting for Zeph to wack you with the stick and she did.oops!! What a beautiful collection of butterflies..lucky you...I wont comment on the spiders except to say Im glad they live on the riverside..
1
@themindfulnarrowboat LOL its not really that bad Vanessa, well I dont know about the funnel webs Im glad we dont have them in WA. Redbacks are more found in old drains, outhouses (outdoor toilets), under fence caps etc you might get the occasional one inside but you would have to be a pretty bad housekeeper for that to happen...that said I check for huntsmens I hate those, big and hairy and move fast..tend to come in when its going to rain especially if you live in the bush. I will send you that hawk photo I promised by email and I will tell you a little spider story there too

Thank you Ian from Western Australia for keeping our beautiful Vanessa safe and well done Mr M take a bow!!! 🙏 One of nature's wonders..how otterley marvellous Vanessa lucky you🤗 and that robin was so pretty, just had to take a screen shot for my art....and from Western Australia in Feb '23 a belated happy new year to you Vanessa, Mr M, India & the lovely Zephyr . That was a great episode!!!
1
Happy new year Vanessa to you, Mr M and Zephyr, thanks for a great year much love from Western Australia 🙏🦘🦘🦘

Ah Vanessa I watched you trudge up that hill with your trolley and thought...you need to harness Zephyr the wonder dog to it and if you walk along with a ball or stick he is sure to follow 🤭🤭 seriously!! Michael P..brrr minus 8 is that F or C? We used to get minus 8 C in Tasmania and that froze our pipes...I admit it was a bit chilly, but no snow. A friend in the States gets a minus 8 F and he would be snowed in...keep warm🤗. Vanesa you always find interesting characters on your walks and Zeph doesnt seem to mind the cold..does he ever wear boots? Clever little bird walking on ice to forage ..and lovely man feeding the birds..."feed the birds tuppence a bag...🎶🎵🎼" Mary Poppins will always be one of my fav movies. A very merry Christmas to you and Mr M Vanessa. Keep warm, stay well and enjoy...hopefully you will catch up with your family too. 🎅🎅 Congratulations to Margaret...🦋 and seasons greetings to your many fans across the world Vanessa from Western Australia 🎅🎅🦘🦘

@themindfulnarrowboat Staying sensible..noooo it was 35 deg C today...Summer started on 1st Dec and Im over it thankyou very much. But they do say it will cool down a little over the next week. And with a cyclone off the coast up north we are hopeful of some rains in a week or so.
1
Ah Vanessa you've done it again dear lady. Your photography, the colours and clarity were magnificent!!! Well done Mr M those tunnels look scarey they really need traffic lights ... those locks look sooooo narrow how wide are they compared to your boat Vanessa? Poor Mr Fox looked a bit mangy, not like that magnificent one of a few months ago....looking a bit lean over the winter months...keep the vlogs coming Vanessa I for one am really really enjoying them...hope you still enjoy making them. Thankyou from the west 🙏🦘🦘🦘🦘🥰
1
Love those little finches, cute poem ..keep meaning to ask Vanessa a few videos ago you made rose hip oil...what is it used for? Sounds like a moisturiser from what you were saying is that right...
1
Wow where do I start..dot points I think.. Bill Fen Marina gorgeous, what a lovely place for a few days rest. Love peacocks those teal/blue/purple colours so pretty. Rainbow eucalyptus have never seen one of those in WA Vanessa. I saw a gorgeous camouflage coloured one the other day all olive greens and burgundy's and when the trees, all eucalyptus shed their skins/bark they are the most huggable trees ever, so velvety and tactile. But beware in a fire they will explode!!! Luckily the park behind us is full of European trees like the oak.. The stunning kingfisher seems to pop up quite often these days and that orb spider (hate spiders!!) was quite something else...this was well worth watching a second time... happy and safe travels xx
1
@themindfulnarrowboat not sure about planting oaks etc around eucalyptus yours are really slow growing and ours grow really tall. It's the oils that explode well before the fire gets to the trees...thanks for the heads up on the spiders..not not much of a phobic. All good xx
