"Who should your computer take its orders from?" — Richard Stallman

The only way to get away from corporations and govs spying on you — free open source software.

That's why there is a practice of documenting the physical state of device before giving out for repair. It should be signed by reciever of the device. Saves from such bullshit.

Pretty much one major advantage to renting is mobility.
4
Nostalgia goggles. This had its own issues, like private sites dying out over time.

@DoctorWhom I know about that. I know even more, that strictly speaking not every distro can be truly called GNU/Linux, because most distros contain various closed-source proprietary blobs (e.g. drivers). FSF tracks a list of truly free and approved GNU/Linux distros. I'm just finding this not particularly related to the titled general question.

As it always happens IRL, to crush a strike the higher ups try to split the people, in this case fuel the feud between moderators and the community. It's true there were always tensions between the two, due to the power discrepancy. The moderators were kind of a middle men between the owners and the community, they were voluntary managers. It's a job not everyone would want to take willingly. It takes certain kinds of people, some are in it to realise their power fantasy, no doubt. But moderation is still needed on popular subreddits, otherwise the crowds of people would trash the places. So, there is good with the bad. Obviously, API changes hurts the moderator class the most. Should the community support their strike against the greedy owners. I think we should. Otherwise the owners get it their way.

Morals are detrimental to profit maximizing, we all knew that
2
It's almost as if there is some kind of conspiracy to kill off small businesses! xD
2
Mindless drones. Apple sheeps that don't mind that a corporation bends them over to fuck.
2
When for profit corporations put their greedy hands on something, you bet your a$$ they will milk it till it's dead. Also, unrestricted competition inevitably ends in monopolism.
2
"Good intentions" pave the road to hell. We're only seeing flowers now. Fast forward a few decades and imagine a world where every citizen is under constant surveillance.
2
Capitalism, yo!
2
Do your own product research before buying. Yeah, I know, that takes time.
2
Corporations would love to treat their customers as serfs. It's techno neo-feudalism on the horizon! Har harrr, mateys!
2
Louis starts contradicting himself when he talks about doing it "for the fun of the craft". How is it different from passion?
2
Everybody digging a moat around their ecosystems nowadays.
2
Are these "tractors" network connected or something? Because if not, then what's the big problem?
2
We need to have free and open source developers appreciation month or something!
2
@andreamitchell4758 And what is the 3rd way?
2
@andreamitchell4758 In any economy currency is backed by goods. If there is any disbalance it leads to inflation or deflation. "National socialist" is a bullshit populist term made up by Nazis to lure in masses. Nazis' economy was based on conquering and exploiting. It's nothing new, even regressive.
2
It's not about DJI, it's literally everywhere now

Yo, haven't you heard that fashion > usability?!

@DoctorWhom What you're on about? We're not talking about Linux.

Basically, Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."

Capitalism sucks now.

What's even better than planned obsolescence - total control!

Louis fully embraced the "angrytuber" role. Negative videos get more views, positive not much.

The hypocrisy of reddit official response is shining.

NOT FOR LONG If we let Apple to get away with their bullshit — other companies would follow.
1
If you're not maximizing profits — you're bad capitalist!
1
Repair is stopping businesses from selling newly produced stuff. That's the crux of the issue.
1
People don't care because by the time they break their current they probably want a newer hyped up model.
1
Copyright strike incoming!
1
I just had a crazy thought, bear with me... Maybe capitalism has ran its course, and it's showing, and we need to engineer a new and improved economic system to progress?
