Normally, any song where Rick has to ask "Where does she go next?" is a decent song by modern standards. But she to whom much is given, much is expected...

Isn't it so that it are the irregularities in music that make the music come alive? Some might call them imperfections, but you could also call them 'expression'. Slight variations in tempo, playing with the pitch of a note, that is what makes music interesting. I think 'perfect' music sound dead, like plastic.

What a legend! And such a nice guy!

Computers fixing the 'errors' in reality leads to what is called the "Uncanny Valley". I hate it in music, as music is about emotion and 'soul'.

My wife acts the same as yours when I put renaissance music on... When I grew up, my father studied the Lute, and his teacher was a very good friend. We visited all sorts of medieval and renaissance music happenings. As part of his yearly reunions with his two best friends and their families, they would study a piece and recite it. That was their yearly race who got through the notes first ;-) My dad did not have a good ear, bless him...

Schools have destroyed far too many people that did not fit the mold. We are currently in a battle with school because they refuse to accept our child is Gifted, and instead insist he has ADHD. In spite of tests showing that he is indeed Gifted. Thankfully, there is now much more information & expertise available for parents so we can understand our kids so much better. It is stories like yours that give us hope things will turn out OK in the end.

You need developed ears to hear whether something is in or out of tune. And it helps to play on a "living" instrument, where you can hear & feel the difference between notes fighting each other, or being in real harmony.

Congratulations, Rick!

Poor Rick, this is why IT professionals were dead-against the DMCA. It provides no proper method of disputing claims, and we foresaw the type of abuse that you are now suffering. But we did not get enough backup, this went over people's heads. I feel for you, but we did try to warn you 20 years ago. One could argue that youtube could do a better job in protecting the interests of its creators, but the law holds youtube responsible, not the creator. I agree with youtube that they can't be bothered to fight all these little fights. The error is not with youtube, but with your plutocratic government that voted the DMCA into action.
