  1. I remember the shock when I first saw that "The Force is Female" travesty. That was the point where I new Star Wars was a lost case. I had been wondering what the F@ck Lukasfilm was doing, but then I knew that it was purposefully destroying its legacy and insulting its fan base. Well, Disney, you let it happen. I hope you enjoy the feeling of writing off many billions of dollars.

Also, letting KK go through with her pet project might be worse for Iger's political aspirations then axing it... The SJW's seem to be triggering a large counter-force of people being fed up with their pettiness and distorted world-view.

  11.  @j.ceasar  I don't blame Disney for anything. Nor am I offended by anything they do. But I will not spend money on Disney either. And I roll my eyes when they blame their former fans for staying away from their movies. The problem with Disney is not their politics. It is that they are not telling interesting or engaging stories. Mary Sues are not interesting. And if you think people don't chose to be offended, you don't understand either people or emotions. I have seen many people take offense and make very stupid decisions as a result, decisions that destroyed their lives. People should listen to their emotions, be alert to what they are saying, but NEVER be controlled by emotions. Emotions are fickle, and can easily be manipulated. Which is for example why we see people protest in support of a literal terrorist group, right after those terrorists perpetrated a terrible massacre, even before their victim had time to retaliate. Don't tell me those people decided to do that with serene hearts after careful consideration.

I know there are far too many men who would love to have the right to be in women's toilets or showers or prisons. Not because they feel like they are women, but to take advantage of women. So when a man wants to identify as a women, there MUST be a safeguard to weed out the perverts from the real trans people. That is not me being anti-trans, that is me understanding human nature. There is a reason that femicide is a problem in the world, and it is because not all men can be trusted with women. We need safeguards. And allowing any man to self-identify as a woman is just asking for serious problems at the cost of women. Which, btw, includes (genuine) trans women. My personal opinion is that a person with a pen!s has no reason being in a women-only space.

And a climate where one party is over-sensitive and escalates any counter-argument or warning of unwanted effects as "hate speech", is not conducive to well-though-out policies. Freedom of Debate is essential for good policies. Some people are mistrustful of science. But let me tell you, science is the search of Truth. It is a place where there is zero tolerance for emotions. Science is brutally honest. People who distrust science don't understand that level of honesty. Truth hurts, sometimes, but that doesn't mean truth ceases to be truth. Truth is unchanging, the very opposite of feelings. Even hurt feelings. (Note that I am talking about hard science: math, beta or medical sciences. People are very right to be mistrustful of soft sciences.)

  18. By retconning past master pieces, the modern writers try to gaslight us. It is cultural vandalism but also psychological abuse of a whole generation. May these works be quickly forgotten as their studios discover that there is no money in tearing things down.

There is actual evil in this world. Hamas wanting to erase all the Jews. Israeli settlers forcing Palestinians in the West Bank from their homes. Putin trying to subjugate a free people by force. Trump trying to destroy the Rule of Law in the USA. People so entitled and insecure they will have you shamed, fired and your career destroyed for using the wrong word to address them. Musk buying a mass media platform and transforming it into an ultra-right indoctrination tool. Doctors refusing to treat a woman whose life is in danger out of fear of being prosecuted and jailed 10+ years. "Protesters" blocking students from entering their faculties in support of a terrorist organisation. And many, many more. Reality is weirder than fiction.

  25. Disney has produced two SW movies I enjoyed watching: the Force Awakens and Rogue One. Though TFA already contained the seeds of the disaster that was to come. After TLJ I gave up on Star Wars. I watched TRoS out of morbid curiosity and because somebody had given me the DVD as a present, but I needed three attempts before I watched it through to the end (twice I fell asleep after about 1 hour). Boy that movie was bad.

  40. Great little point about the vast distance to other galaxies. Before we will be ready to colonize a planet around another star, we'd better first learn to spend several generations inside a metal container. Even the journey to Mars takes several years! All these fantasies to colonize other planets are just that: fantasies of rich people scared of humanity. Even if this planet becomes uninhabitable, it will be FAR easier to "terraform" than e.g. Mars. We'd better learn to take better care of our home, people!
