Well, he certainly has morally and politically bankrupted the GOP...
1
People cheering when the presidents talks about blocking his opponent? How can you claim to love the constitution or the USA and cheer this? The USA is very, very, very sick.
1
Great news. Now every time Trump tries to raise this point, the prosecutor can point to the ruling by the appeals court as jurisprudence, and have it dismissed.
1
Any day you can screw people while playing golf is a good day for the GOP. Sad.
1
But it will sure keep us entertained!
1
The USA is in deep shit. A large part of its people have no more respect for truth or for the Law. Best way to fix this: deal with the sources of misinformation. It has become a matter of national security, witness the jan 6th attacks.
1
This is going faster than I imagined. The lid is off the sewer! Thank God workers still have some rights in the USA.
1
It never ceases to amaze me how rich people in the USA can abuse the Legal system. Arguing with a judge or DA about whether or not you can be heard in a court case? NUTS! When the judge calls upon you to testify, you testify. When the DA marks you as a suspect or includes you in a court case, you are part of it until all evidence has been considered and it turns out you were indeed not involved. Refusing to hear the evidence but rather decide off-hand that a party is not involved in spite of strong indications to the opposite sounds a like outright corruption.
1
From what we have heard, both should be locked up in Georgia. Couldn't happen to better people.
1
Barr knows that launching a political show-trial against Biden at this time, will get him impeached and imprisoned. He should have been impeached and imprisoned a long time ago for obstructing justice, but never mind. VOTE THEM OUT!
1
I completely agree with Stevens. If the Republican party was somehow uncomfortable with Dump, they would have taken the first opportunity to get rid of him with both hands. Instead, they almost to a person stood behind Dump last winter. That was the moment the Republicans showed their true colors, and spat in the face of the constitution at the same time. The Republican party has lost all moral integrity, and is indeed beyond salvation.
1
I don't know if the Democrats are "caving". The way the Senate operates, especially the fillibuster, force them to do things they don't want. Why on earth some "democrats" are still supporting the fillibuster is, however, beyond me. It is an evil and undemocratic institution that is ONLY used to frustrate the will of The People, and must be kicked out at your earliest convenience.
1
Mr Braggs needs to remember that the future of the USA depends heavily on his and his colleague's decisions. Perhaps the bravery of the Ukrainians can inspire this man to do what needs to be done to Putin's lapdog.
1
This case is very simple. The Law & the Constitution recognizes The President. It does not recognize an Ex President: they are just regular citizens with all the same rights & duties all Americans have. I fully expect the National Archives to ignore the commands Trump tries to give it.
1
Finally, accountability is coming to the party of "personal responsibility".
1
Your volume is very low... Please turn it up!
1
"Blonde Barbie" Is that a daughter of Klaus Barbie?
1
To spend that much of manpower since the 11/3 elections, this witch hunt has taken 30 or so FTE's off other cases. I guess this AG does not want real crooks to be punished....
1
The news of Trump not paying his lawyers may have something to do with them being unwilling to defend Trump. Perhaps if he pays up-front, someone might... If you don't want to be ripped off, pay your accountants. If you want to stay out of jail, pay the frigging lawyers! We may see the day that Trump needs pro-deo lawyers to defend him in real trials, with real jail sentences at stake.
1
The could offer their testimony to the FBI. Then they'd be doing something useful.
1
This is a very sad story. Another example of how everything Trump touches, dies.
1
One aspect of stupidity is that you don't learn from other people.
1
Christians should never put their hope and/or trust in a man. Kenneth's laughter meant that in spite of Trump loosing the election, God is not worried. God did not loose the election: His candidate won. It is sad that so many of America's Christians supported the other guy. They are now humbled, let's hope they learn from the experience.
1
This is all very amusing. However, Trump will appeal these cases until the Supreme Court. The McConnell-packed Supreme Court. I am not convinced they will dare to uphold a Trump conviction, no matter how many laws the man violated.
1
@jodipattison3661 As long as it is justice, I'm fine with that. Those that break the law, e.g. by not stepping in and preventing Dump mess up the Covid response, need to feel its wrath. The purpose of Law is to protect the People, and their rights.
1
Trump will pay his lawyers before he pays his family...
1
@Washoewillie "had a history of not paying his lawyers" That will come back to haunt him... Seriously, there are two groups of people you should always pay, and pay well: your lawyers, and your accountants.
1
What a way to honor judge Ginsberg, to break your solemn vow to not replace a SC judge in the final year of a republican president. Shame. Please, folks: go and vote this lying dog home.
1
The only reason republicans support Trump is because they don't want to be seen as the guy who took him down. This is all posturing and grandstanding, waiting for some external event to take care of Trump (i.e. the Justice system). Then they can claim to be the bestest Trumpian, and take over his mantle.
1
Absolutely right. The USA is not a democracy. But don't let that keep you from voting.
1
I am afraid she is pretty smart. Makes her all the more despicable.
1
It prevented quite a few of them...
1
As the House is co-equal to SCOTUS, SCOTUS has no authority to say anything on how the House organizes its voting. Someone should explain to the Republicans how the Constitution works.
1
I wouldn't care at all for what happens to anti-vaxers except that they influence the herd immunity we need to protect the weak. Not everybody can be vaccinated, and no vaccine is 100% efficacious.
1
Next thing, Dump will be asking Adelson for "protection money". "You know, I like this Adelson. Met him a few times, don't really know him. I want him no harm. But his business looks a bit shaky, I heard Barr talk about him, that he might start an investigation". He'll probably do it live on television.
1
But, if they were of equal quality, they would have been hired already. So your point does not hold up. An exodus of staffers would definitely hurt Fox.
1
Acting as if you are a judge is a crime. How about impersonating a grand jury?
1
In my opinion, sore loosers are un-american. Trump: the greatest looser of the century?
1
The only way to "expand the system" is to get rid of the district voting system. Get rid of the electoral college. Just tabulate all votes regardless of where they were cast, and divide seats accordingly. As a result, many more parties will pass the bar to be represented in the house, and voila: a much fairer and democratic system where all voices are represented. It will also make a repeat of the last 3 years less likely. For electing the president, this means a two-stage election process is required: the first round selects two candidates out of all willing to run, the second round chooses the actual president out of these two. No need e.g. for primaries, which tend to select radical candidates that are a bad representative for almost half the nation. Most republics select their president in this way, for example France.
1
"if you've got 2500 and are a blithering idiot" Best line.
1
Very true, a president should divest all his business interests to avoid him being sensitive to outside pressures or having incentives for fraud. However, Trump did not do that. But Deutsche Bank can only start to seize properties after the loans become due.
1
Good point about the systemic racism. This alone is why these criminals must be prosecuted. The person of color in your example is being harassed by the officer, and being slow to obey a random order. The criminals in the Dump administration are knowingly breaking federal laws and abusing their power. In my book, abusing power is a far greater crime than resisting being harassed.
1
This investigation has probably been held up by one W. Barr... But now, orange hunting season has OPENED! And it will last a good, long time, probably a decade.
1
The power of the senate to block and stop the house is very undemocratic. The current republican majority represents 15,000,000 less people than the democrat majority.
1
History has proven that when allowed to fester, Fascism will destroy a nation. It needs to be fought, and fought hard & smart. Personally, I think the USA is right at the point of no return. It may already have crossed it.
1
At some point, US politicians will realise that integrity is a requirement for the job.
1
It is not certain this will happen. Perhaps Trump can find another bank or person that would re-finance him so he can pay off Deutsche Bank. Time to call in some favors from his buddies Putin and Xi? Or perhaps his Saudi friends?
1
Why is the American Justice system treating these terrorists better than people who were illegally arrested during peaceful protests?
1
Spot on. People should watch what politicians do, not what they say. McConnell has plenty of opportunity to work with the democrats, on the senate floor.
1
I hope so. But then, we are talking about silly amounts of money. Who cares about justice when settling makes you an instant multi-millionaire?
