Trump not having a strategy for re-election worries me. He must be planning something else...
1
Basically the only career path left open to them is writing exposées ;-) Perhaps they can get into a witness protection scheme?
1
On prosecuting former Presidents: you recently had good examples of Suriname and France. It aint pretty but it's got to be done.
1
The only thing I am interested in with regards to Trump, is his indictments and convictions.
1
LOL. You know you are doing well when your own propaganda network cuts away from your most important event to date.
1
"Befehl ist Befehl". Where did we hear that one before?
1
Any system that allows politicians to select their voters is NOT a democracy.
1
Trump is destroying the Republican party so effectively it almost looks like he was sent there by the Democrats.
1
Let me tell you, as a citizen of the EU, that the international optics of playing nice to Trump sr, will be MUCH WORSE than letting Lady Justice keep her blindfold. Trump being a fraud ain't news to most of us. Justice is not Justice if it is not the same for everybody. Soft healers make stinking wounds.
1
Michigan fan That would be a very brave if stupid action, knowing these trumpists will shoot you if they feel attacked, and then claim self-defense. Much better to film their actions and report them to the police. Physically blocking people from entering will probably count as assault. And putting it out on youtube will force the officials to protect people's right to vote.
1
I am absolutely sure they will blame President Biden for this. Even though the state government goes against federal advice.
1
"What Putin did was smart" No, it wasn't. Putin is going down, very soon. His future is a cell in The Hague, IF he survives the change of regime.
1
About Double Jeopardy: Impeachment is NOT the same as a legal trial, as it has no authority to punish people. I.e. there is no "jeopardy" for Trump during the impeachment trial. Also, even that slimeball McConnel made it very clear that being acquitted during the impeachment did not take away the possibility of legal prosecution. The Senate voted to acquit because some did not feel (falsely) they had the authority to convict a person no longer in office. That is equivalent to a court ruling that it has no jurisdiction over a case. That in no way diminishes the right for another court that has jurisdiction, to prosecute. If Double Jeopardy were applicable, it would not be possible to prosecute a person who defrauded his company if he was reviewed for dismissal after that fraud had been found out.
1
By calling Biden stupid, Trump is insulting the whole USA. Honor the office, not the man. Or did he really think that democrats stayed civil & respectful to him during his regime because he deserved that on his own merit?
1
I wonder how many of these people who so vehemently denounce people as "Rhinos" are in fact paid trolls.
1
The GOP is finally reaping the reward of destroying their integrity.
1
MoscowMitch is going out!
1
The case against Fox is both the hardest to argue, and the most important. Fox has been the main channel for spreading Trump's lies, and they need to bear the responsibility for the effects.
1
I wonder what would be worse for Trump: being convicted in a criminal case or being plucked in a civil case. I think the latter. He stands a good chance of escaping prison due to his age and willingness to appeal ad infinitum, but his money and lifestyle are what he cares about. A civil case can be just as effective in ending both. But I just want the satisfaction of seeing this crook behind bars. Call me childish.
1
A company specialized in computer hacking asks for the passwords. That is scary. And not for the reasons you mention. These people have the skill and the tools to permanently compromise these systems.
1
It is likely that when Putin can pressure Trump to do his bidding, Trump also ways to effectively pressure republican governors. The whole party is completely corrupt. VOTE THEM OUT!
1
Everything Trump touches, dies.
1
I don't think any GQP supporters will change their mind because of this. Reasonable and moderate people have already left the party.

In our country (Netherlands), we found that kids under 12 very rarely transmit Covid.19, even when they were in contact with infected people. Kids over 12 definitely do. That is why we opened elementary schools but not high school (we don't have middle school, elementary school runs till age 12). Still, we have strict rules e.g. that kids with even a running nose need to stay at home (except in cases where the running nose is chronic). Why is that distinction not being made in the USA discussion???
1
The prosecutor might have better luck charging Trump as a co-conspirator. Then his pardon will be null and void.
1
These people do something very subversive. They think they have the right to define a). what a Republican is, but even worse, b). what a "true" American is. In my book, the only "true" Americans are the children of those that were here before Columbus, but somehow I don't think these maniacs are talking about them.
1
The reason these lawyers are coming up with these dumb arguments, is because Trump can not afford good lawyers any more. In fact, it seems he can not afford any lawyers if we hear how he still needs to pay Guilliani for services rendered. My father always taught me there are two people I need to pay best of all: my accountant, and my lawyer. Seems Dump did not have a good father.
1
This is just the beginning. Manchild about to hit reality... #justiceiscoming
1
Fox is not (just) about making money, but about fascist propaganda, probably sponsored by Putin himself. They wouldn't fire their top operative.
1
When is SCOTUS finally going to conclude that rigging the vote like the Republicans have, is unconstitutional? The USA has no right to call itself a democracy until it does.
1
It seems Fox leaders are waking up. Not that they have suddenly grown a conscience, but I bet that they are getting scared for being accomplices or even co-conspirators to the crimes of the Trump administration. I know I would be, especially when the news of Trump underplaying Covid came out. At some point, spreading mis-information becomes co-conspiracy, when that mis-information leads to deaths. I think Fox can expect some serious legal trouble as it is--as soon as Justice starts to matter again to the DoJ. Fox hosts spreading mis-information on Covid has led to many deaths, and after the Woodworth reveals Fox can no longer taut the "we are quoting the president" line.
1
And THIS is why a prospective presidential candidate needs to release his tax records, BEFORE people vote for him in primaries. You wanna be president? Show us how financially stable you are and we will consider it.
1
The democrats are to blame for letting the earlier subpoenas come to nothing. They failed to enforce those subpoenas. It is like drawing a gun but being unwilling to use it. Their bluff was called and shown to be just that: a bluff.
1
The republican party is rotten to its core. It hasn't been working for its voters for decades, and the truth is now becoming obvious. Politicians hiding from their support group? Wow, that is embarrassing. Time to finish it off, and start something new.
1
Both these senators should be prosecuted. This is an issue for the courts, not the Ethics committee. Sadly, the courts seem to work far too slowly to be effective against governmental malfeasance.
1
Just try it, just come to these rallies! What do you have to loose?
1
A grifter will always a grifter be... NOT the person you want to run the country, though...
1
Probably, Rudy is waiting until he is indicted or arrested to flip. He was prosecutor, he knows how this story goes.
1
As long as Dump is still walking around a free man, there is little hope for the USA. The Mueller report contains 10 crimes committed by this man, ready for prosecution. Pick them up and issue the warrants NOW.
1
People wanting money out of Trump need to hurry. When IRS discovers how much he undervalued his properties these past decades, Trump they will pick him dry.
1
You don't need to question people about something they said in public. You indict them.
1
I am surprised the Democrats had to file the suit. To me, it looks like a matter of Criminal law, that would be filed by the district attorney or the Attorney General.
1
Potential donors are quite right to being afraid of becoming complicit in manslaughter. According to Glenn Kirschner, the way Trump handles the Corona crisis is involuntary manslaughter. He is not a judge, but he has been involved in many such cases as prosecutor. With the same reasoning, helping Trump organize these rallies may also be involuntary manslaughter.
1
In normal families, it would hurt the father more to see his son punished than if he were punished himself...
1
Like his father, Dump Jr. has excellent taste in women...
1
The GOP is melting down. It is wonderful to see.

@allhumansarejusthuman.5776 "they either gave everyone a UBI" The only example of UBI that I can think of was the "Bread and Games" that were provided in ancient Rome. But that system was funded by slavery and aggressively conquering other nations (which were then taxed heavily), not something to emulate in this age. If you know of other examples that were not funded by slavery, please specify. The problem with UBI is that the people still need to do specific types of jobs. There needs to be a mechanism that makes people want to grow corn when there are too few farmers. Capitalism has been shown to be the best mechanism for this, because it gives positive incentives to invest and work and improve. The ancients used slavery, where the slaves were simply told to do what was required to keep civilization going.

Farron has an excellent point: the fact that judges time their retirement with an eye on who replaces them is BAD. The executive branch has no business interfering with the judicial branch. Judges are more than capable to elect replacements themselves. That is what happens in real democracies: a panel of judges select new judges.
1
Not just Trump... Voter suppression has been going on for decades now. Trump is not the first president who did not get the popular vote. The USA is not a democracy as long as this goes on.
1
Well said. Any sensible political party, would make it a condition for running in the primaries, to avoid embarrassment later on.
