The fact that there's more affordable trims and battery options in Europe shows the inherent mismanagement of the 500e by Stellantis. Not to mention the platform unique to the 500e has no Panda or other derivatives, which is an utter waste

"MALLFINDER" is a pretty hilarious pseudonym for Crossover/SUV

They should really be studying up on the electric Mustang E
16
One of them comes with a 301hp 40-50 mile EV range plug in hybrid. I know which one's king
13
There are no more!
10
Before 2030 I see Stellantis getting bailed out by Geely or BYD...
9
I would be way more interested for the review for the base hybrid truck...
8
And all of their passports and ID locked away safely only where you know.
8
@purplefabian Ahh, no.
6
Stay safe in that 2.6 tonne emotional support vehicle then, should make you feel safe against all the pedestrians and cyclists.

A plugin hybrid or ev would be welcomed, given the tech shared with the Jaguar iPace.

if we look at the OBD softwares, in D passive regen is like 5kW, B is 10-15kW with some proportion going to the spinning engine. When the battery is full to the brim, still going down hill, the generator can soak up as much a 45kW to spin the engine as an air pump. It's great, sounds like a diesel Jay brake. But except when the battery is almost full, it's useless. I heard though that B mode is good for autocrosses, it keeps the engine spinning and ready more for re-ignition to accelerate, otherwise the engine will always keep needing the MG1 generator to restart it, and that can take up 20hp out of the 36hp motor.

Their golden era was when they were affordable with mass appeal. Kia/Hyundai have gone upmarket, competing with other automakers doing the same. In a more unstable economic and political climate than ever, who can afford premium cars? They're all headed for a repeat of 2008. Really only Chinese cars stand to benefit, in western markets
5
@ecastoe is a not Prius reliable?

99.2% of car users

Are any of them not premium?

As someone who liked the Prium for what it was when it was social suicide to say so - I would say this is the strongest Prius yet, as one guy said it, it has put in Pazzas into Prius; but oddly one that came with the unnecessary compromises It is getting too expensive. That's the trend of the entire market. What made the Prius work was its use ability. Its elever ergonomic design inside and out that doesn't fall off and has proven not to have aged over the years, doesn't mean it had to feel crap. Style is good, but good style could always have been in any of the previous generations. But this 5tg gen has outrageous A-pillars. There are also compromise in not having a split rear window. And that a faster 2.0l Prius was always possible, that engine was sold in Corolla Estate wagons in the EU arou d 2018. A plug in hybrid was always possible since the 2000s. It should be glaring to us

@marco.morel04 It is almost unnoticeable on the fuel economy when driving fast for long periods. I've seen some drivers loose at most 4 mpg sharing their drive logs on youtube. From an empty SOC, which sucks, charge mode can take 45 minutes to fill up to 75%. That's handy for when you know that you're at most an hour away from the town/city.

Now if only KIA made an affordable EV... 🤔
3
Tone down the Amazing hype.. It has no ePower or EV to choose from, but it has grown more upmarket regardless. What are Nissan execs thinking??
3
Get a clue How is going upmarket and crowding into an already oversaturated market of premium crossover SUVs at a time of record inequality and economic instability gonna give Nissan its comeback?
3
In time my friend, in time.

"The motor is the transmission". It's lovely that no one has described it at a "cvt" - uugh, but it's the same system Toyota has been using for 20 years now. ... and no one still knows how it works??
2
You sure? It would be extremely dubious and unfortunate if they did
2
Screw those union jack lights big time. Very cringe.
2
3 banger like the i8 was cool, don't lie
2
So is this what the Leaf was supposed to look like?
2
Ew
2
That must be at least 13 courics!
2
It's what executives decided they wanted over an AWD or plug in hybrid because this TREMOR would most definitely make more short term profits.
2
Lmao what
2
needs a Prime
2
Really? They couldn't bother making an AWD hybrid? They couldn't bother making a PHEV? WTF THEN
1
The New Beetle formula, now in MiniBusz flavour
1
Compared to the 2015 Cali-compliance 500e which smiles from ear to ear
1
Very weird why'd you use the Ford Focus Electric in this comparison. It's cool that it has kept its pseudo-Aston Martin looks - but it's a +7 year old design that wasn't tailored to had a battery in it. More or less the battery was always thrown in and duct-taped tight compared to other EVs... +7 years ago.
1
My balls just twitched
1
THIS!
1
That similar trim is just as expensive in Europe, but European market has more options from a soft top roof to smaller sensible runs and a 24kWh battery
1
Citroën CX5 is better... Pity you yanks don't get more decent cars
1
@aamirqz do you like in Dublin, by any chance?
1
@solen1849 But don't hide the lie, when you get off the interstate and slow down, you don't get +70mpg for up to 20 minutes on the journey home.
1
@Atomicatom80 It has laways been normal ppl who want high efficiency and sensibility. The phenomenon in the 2000s was the the Prius was the ONLY legitimate, "alt-fueled" car that was a car at the time across 50 states. Leo DiCaprio (and the rest of Hollywood copying their virtues) sparked off the Prius red carpet image in a quiet reaction toward the 2003 settlement where GM, Exxon, Bush administration sued CARB to relax its future 5% EV sale regulation for 2005 - hence bringing the demise of the era's EV1s.
1
Toyota thinks that going more and more upmarket and copying pre-2008 is going to save itself and their profits from eventual economic collapse and domination of EVs
1
You're missing out, Kaiden!
1
It a particular gripe actual Prius fans just can't stand about Toyota. Their PR for years have been so incredulous and pretentious. Rather than viewing owners enjoying the raw practical and physical reliability of a go anywhere hatch (like a Citroen CX) - they bought themselves into the unhelpful virtuous, status minded Head-up-their-Holers. In many markets only until last year, Priuses were not available in base trim and sold as entry-luxury cars, especially in Europe... That carbon composite rear hatch was really just an unnecessary but slick gimmick. Am sad to hear about its real cost.
1
It (extra usable power capacity) is what the Prius Prime should've been.
1
Now if only Toyota did the exact same thing to the Prius? But this Prius would have a larger MG2 that's able to combine all 80hp of the battery with the engine power split system.
1
Have you not driven a Prius?!
1
and it looks like a Citroen, that helps, right?
