The Shame is on the elite capital class. Both east and west.
6
Foreign institutional investment capital, ie Wall street.
6
Potential? There's no potential for locals in Latin America. Just more foreign money extracting more than what they're putting in. It's not like that's anything new there.
6
We shouldn't have to wait
6
@Memovox it's a watershed moment
6
Governments need and must punish capital corruption in political shenanigans
6
War of attrition, makes good profits for weapons manufacturers on both sides.
6
Capitalism doing what it does
6
@ravenstone366 it's called late stage capitalism/imperialism

Algae not plankton depletes oxygen

This is about making a new commodity of Hydrogen to replace oil. It is neither clean or sustainable unless there's 200% renewable geberation capacity in the electric grid. Long duration battety storage (far from lithium) is key. Such as flow or rust batteries.

You need to let go of the Tesla supremacy. What you don't see is how it is affecting the the industry wide market. Making competitors to make EVs is great, that's what's great about Tesla despite the fact that it's legislation that forces them; but when chasing Tesla like a dragon pushes Kia - Hyundai into making obscenely posh products, it creates the dilemma that there are no affordable EVs for mass adoption. It's self defeating. Not for the sake of chasing Tesla, but Tesla makes the highest profit margins and that's what competitors want. It's why we have nothing but overly expensive and pretentious crossover SUVs, petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric. And guess what, it turbocharges inflation. Profits will lose value with inflation, but if every business has to prioritise profits, don't be surprise when everything jumps in price to remain competitive (profit making).

@protagonist9716 MG's MG4 definitely frightened the life out of a lot of legacy automakers
5
@gdiwolverinemale4th Practically all established political parties and governments are held captive by private capital interests, which governs our laws for centuries. Otherwise we wouldn't be living in Capitalism

"Am I out of touch, no it's the groomed children who are wrong"

Volkswagen, like every other automaker like KIA and Hyundai are trapped in a "competitive" business model that must compete with Tesla's premium, high profit margin model. Frankly this is what Audi perfected earlier. And what this does is creates multi-industry wide inflation on the price of goods and services because every competitor is chasing profits and ending up turbocharging inflation, inflation reduces the value of profits (which must grow YoY for Return of Investment or everybody dies for some reason)

What is it with free market economies that trend toward austerity and cutting resources on public health care, staff and bed capacity?
5
When Google and YouTube resisted setting up servers within China.... That's the context you omitted
5
Now imagine such heats being prolonged, and bosses and politicians forcing workers to work in unsafe conditions. The fragile global trade system will collapse
5
It's the unnatural amount of heat and warming potential dumped into the air and oceans that's the problem, which concentrates the impact of El Nino and La Nina
5
Germany is so dismissive of EU debt sharing, but not a peep or damn given when Ireland paid off 42% of France and Germany's banking debt. Every bailout from Ireland to Greece, Portugal and Italy were shadow bailouts for Europe's two largest banks, who owed money to Wall street banks

Your Yellow Peril is showing 👀

@sandyvalentin3072 the worst thing about the internet has been the commercialisation and polarisation. Remember when news media sites around 2014-2015 were obsessing how there wasn't enough right wing media and discourse online? The algorithms adapted, in case you've never seen what YouTube, Facebook or Twitter looks like with a fresh account. Well, here we are.
4
BYD Atto 1/Seagul and the Bingo EV. If Tesla can't compete with those competitive small cars, no one can. The VW eUP!/Skoda Citigo ev/SEAT Mii electric can compete if it cost 1/2 the price. It screams volumes that in 2020 VW nearly discontinued production of the modest and capable EV
4
They did

In as little as 3 to 15 years we will see the establishment of a young forest, which is imperative to increase reforestation at scale
4
But you'll never see any risk and liability costs on the shipping of crude oil, don't ya?
4
What does colonialism kean to you?
4
Not a chance. The air this summer is strange. Murky and still. A lot of folks are acknowledging the change in seasonal weather

Yellow peril enemy talk 🦜
4
We're all taught the fairy tale of never ending growth, and never the inevitable cycles of recessions and socioeconomic suffering.
4
This is NATO's legacy. Destabilisation, private acquisition of nationalised oil for BP, lining up all the pins for climate change to bowl over.
4
Business as Usual Watch the World burn 🌎 🔥
4
Cause things will be so much better with the EPP/CDU back at the helm 🙄🙄
4
The scandal ridden DUP is at the centre of this paradoxical mess. It's the DUP, it's the DUP, it's the DUP.
4
How the feck does that sentence operate? I can understand such a remark from a brexiteer, but all the serious problems and bias in Irish media come from domestic and internation business and investment interests that stand to loose everything if the EU changes the slightest little thing.
4
@cnfuzz you focus on population size but not the literal structure of the economy that impoverishes the majority of people in the world for the lavish lifestyles and worship of billionaires and multi millionaires.
3
All profits goes to the wall street casino
3
Even earlier. The Chinese have the lead
3
The thing is the EU and its comission and the members states represented are held captive by such private capital interests that hold economies hostage.
3
Except now just recently, China and Russia are trading oil in Yuan....
3
Nothing to be committed to climate action, disaster preparation or damage reparations
3
Same with Ireland here with intensive land misuse to maximise profits for supermarkets/traders. there's chronic wildlife loss and water pollution increasing, there's also severe warnings of soil infertility from overgrazing and exhausting the land.
3
This is not a game. The "law and order" free market world we're born and living in is actively killing us off.
3
Are DW and the rest of our media goung to blame the catastrophe on poor warning systems (like Hawaii La Haina) and "corruption" but not the aftermath of the 2011 NATO coup and the risk multiplier that is climate change?
3
Jesus Christ 😢
3
You don't know what 40 years of neoliberalism is
3
@luihinwai1 For the executive class. It's fitting really.
3
This Kai Neufield was a very poor choice to interview. This CEBR think tank talking head taking up most of the time. It reeks of a lack of preparation from DW
