Climate crisis, biodiversity collapse and overshoot. That's the existential risk of this reality. Act like it. What sanity is there in investing in new oil projects and fast food, fast fashion and other unproductive retail industry jobs for the sake of GDP? Reliance on private capital will be the death of us
1
Not at all he failed to answer why the jet stream is fluctuating more due to record warm arctic temperatures
1
@JeffBilkins that's honestly disappointing. No room for entertainment jockeys in journalism
1
Is this the crux of where our habitable futures rely in?
1
The UK really shouldn't have a stand or a right to this matter as they began the offence to criminalize protesting
1
People who only understand how many weeks or days it takes to refill
1
@fatdoi003 enjoy the Alzheimer's from all the particulates long after they're gone
1
Remember, "human activity" and "man made climate change" is in actuality Capital created. And it is capital that is worshiped like a golden calf that'll will be the end of civilization if left unaltered
1
So, economic hegemony and remove any form of little progress in democratic representation
1
Don't flash yourself so fragrantly
1
Humans (workers) have been completely disempowered under capitalism
1
Greece, Africa...
1
The irony is that every individual on earth is blamed for the profitable emissions of businesses and exploitation
1
The one thing liberals (actual Centrists) do best is Spectate.
1
Yellow Peril is a hot commodity This is the consequence of Fossil executives of Europe. Their lobbying were warned and were protested for over a decade while dieselgate forced their hands too many years too late . Either they'll face the music like the bankers of Iceland, or they get bailed out with a healthy Christmas bonus. The workers of Germany should not be subjected to the failure of their successive bosses.
1
Just say capitalist dominance.
1
It brought it on itself. Anyone with a historical sense knows that the internal contradictions are inevitably its demise. Whether we descend into barbarism or are free to organise our future is the aftermath
1
DW news should be inviting Aaron Bastani or Ash Sahkar on this topic
1
More affordable if it was non-profit

The rest of our lives so far

It's because their GDP calculation includes massive infrastructure that are expected to be in use in +100 years that's fondly criticised for being overkill, projects like high speed rail, mountain bridges, solar, wind, computer chips and battery manufacturing
1
Exactly
1
@jakeryker546 that's really only a matter of the rigging. Solar panels can be put up on green houses too
1
@gibriltouray8533 lmao
1
@nikitamcconnell8027 you are woefully naïve You must be under the age of 15 or over the age of 50 to have such beliefs
1
Exactly
1
@pineyi the stain of planter colonisation
1
Israel has what solution? Violently stealing land from Palestinians?
1
@maninredhelm you'd think so, but that's irrelevant, Mazda never had trouble partnering with Toyota, Ford or even innovate themselves. in 2013 Mazda had a working rotary engine plugin hybrid Mazda 2, and quickly buried it. Now, a decade later, they're spending a lot of PR of the exact same innovation in a much larger, more expensive crossover
1
@louisbarningham tell that to Kiwi EV and their Chinese Ute for under $50K
1
@georgesbv1 oh I've seen, and it is well admired. Unfortunately it is being translated as a light style influence rather than substance. Their new ë-C3 while a welcome, affordable EV is still a crossover or mock SUV designed for "aspiring classes" in the Indian market that is also built with a 1.0l engine
1
@kshen7485 national strategy and a planned economy were the keys to China's success in that regard
1
@brunoheggli2888 no, and I was once a fan of Toyota, they squandered everything. They didn't want to build plugin hybrids. Before Dieselgate, Toyota was more than happy advertising diesels more than anything else
1
@stone1227 don't be a racist gobshíte
1
@tomsmith6513 TATA, REVA
1
@havingdinneramaster translate?
1
@jansix4287 I've seen those pictures and video, and a pity you fell for them. Those vehicles were liquid assets of defunct taxi and ride share companies. But that didn't stop cryptofascists from manufacturing hysteria that EVs are unreliable and that China was hiding an oversupply problem
1
Stay blind to the history and truth
1
Goodbye herring
1
The Liberal ALDE party is sabotaging the coalition
1
Are you talking about overshoot theory? Where if emissions (hundreds of millions of years of oil burned in less than 100 years) will stop today, temperatures will still be climbing for over 30 years to come Because geological processes to re-sequester carbon operate on a timescale of tens of thousands of years , of which those processes have been degraded and exploited beyond repair.
1
Next step - a full year without importing fossil fuels. It's completely possible, it's oil and gas companies that are the problem
1
@BubblesTheCat1 no...
1
It sucked
1
Western Automakers failed to listen (while they were pretending turbo duesel was clean) and they failed to let go of easy, short term profits. These Chinese electric vehicles would wipe the floor with German and even Korean EVs when they come to western markets, especially in the entry level market. Western automakers will need bailouts soon, or complete acquisition. Call it bad business practice, business as normal.
1
You know what they say, fascism is the result of late stage or a treatened state of capitalism holdong itself together
1
Can't the EU not collaborate with China's infrastructure ambitions? Oh right, that'll upset the yanks.
1
There's a lot more chemistries than Lithium Ion, presuming thats the market leading wet cell Li-ions. There's Sodium ions as well as solid state batteries which, you've guessed it, the Chinese are leading with. There's also flow batteries which are an old technology seeing a new lease of life for grid stoarge. Because western corporations and countroes wasted over a decade dismissing the climate crisis and the necessity to electrify transport and invest in energy storage. Sorry Europe's economy is geading toward a brick wall. Thank the family that owns Porsche who hired all of VW Group's corrupt executives
1
German executives held the entire industry and Germany itself back for over a decade.
