@drummerdoingstuff5020 Porsche had flat 8 and 12s...I wish they would design their top models with them...atleast that's what every other brand offers for the massive extra $$$. Having a 745iL vs. a 760iL or a v10 Gallardo vs. V12 aventador is a BIG selling point.
2
From the Factory??? Send me that link, LMFAO.
2
@jtthedon4230 LOL, Talking trash and you can't even get the Numbers right... NOW THAT'S, A MUSTANG FAN!!! Demon ran a (9.65 et) @ 140.09 mph, on a Prepped track like the Ford's claimed time was done on.
2
StickLoaf, It's the tuning by the Owner that makes them FAIL...not the Product. Have tuned plenty of race bikes using them. 30 yrs ago, Replacement Mufflers (Flowmaster/dynomax/ magnaflow, etc) Sucked.
2
They are stuck with the platform (which is main heavy Merecedes based). It won't get lighter until they switch to the Alfa Romeo platform. It looks like it will lose about 300<350lbs when that happens. This weighs less than a Bugatti Veyron or around the same weight so that's also Caca? It costs alot in light weight materials to make a big car light. This is the same weight as an F01 M5 or AMG E63 S, so they are SHIT Too?
2
They've been crazy since the mid/late 50's. They were always the one brand to push the limits...which is why I've always liked them;-)
2
It's about the All Season tires they put on it...plus the weight. SRT rand a regular hellcat with Drag radials and got <3.0s 0-60 times and high 10s. SRT says the Widebody Redeye is good for 10.8 in the 1/4 mile....But obviously Motorweek is testing during the heat of the day in summer and not in the fall/late in the day like Most factory times are done. That's why most testers don't get close to the Demon 1/4 record...It was done in November on a 40 deg night at sea level in Florida on a prepped track. It's the same with all the BS Nurburgring runs (huracan performante, 911 GT3, 918 porsche, ALL Nissan GT-Rs, Etc.)
2
9.6 on the 1/4 mile ? You do realize this Demon weighs as much as a M5/AMG E63 S.....and they barely get out of the 12s. You would have to by a 720S, Laferrari or Chiron to challenge this time (factory Stock). The problem with NON-Americans....they think hp/ltr means Efficiency, LOL. BSFC...HP per lbs of fuel is efficiency and a pushrod corvette is superior than M cars, GTRs, etc. Also you have to spend 2+times more money to find a NON-american sports car that could even come close to hanging with an american sports car on a track. The $45k 1LE Camaro shits on $80<$90k M3/M4s and the 2017 565hp Nissan GTR. When ANY Brand makes a car $40<$60k that can compete with the US POny cars OR a $90k<$140K sports car that can compete with them on a track (US SPEC) post a link I'd love to see. Euro spec cars are completely different and everyone Knows that Nurburgring times are fake(modified cars) as most of the fast cars that are fast there....are ONLY fast there. The 2017 Nismo was almost 2 sec slower than the Z06 at Laguna Seca and the Best the competitors the GT3RS was still $90k more than the Z06. As for drag racing...show me a manual car that runs low 11s or faster? I think the 911R is your best bet..but I've never seen actual/independently done times for it...probably high 11's/low 12s.
2
@hmackprotection1 Actually it would look perfect on this car...More to the point it would be Functional, unlike all the other Garbage out there. (it SHOULD be an Option).
2
@hmackprotection1 Looks are subjective/personal preference. The old Supra and F40 had an old Mopar Daytona wing and both are Loved by All. It would look better than ALOT of current models on the market today.
2
It's the weather that slowed them down MId 90's "KILLS" performance. The record time was done at night in 45 degree weather. A Hellcat with Dr's would be in the high 11's, a GTR in this weather would be in the 12's.
2
It has Nothing to do with "Worthy" it has to do with safety. Any car running 135mph or faster requires a Roll cage "Regardless of the Brand". As all Koenisgseggs 918 Porsche Laferrari McLearens etc...would get booted of the track.
2
Demon isn't fighting with them...only on a drag strip and it Spanks them. Wheres the Zl-1....1.3 sec behind? Z06, can't hang with a Viper. T/A on street tires stays with it and runs 2 sec quicker with the same michelins, and the Zr-1 needs 100 extra HP to barely beat an Acr.
2
99% of all supercars are automatics.... so the Koenigseggs, bugattis, ferrari, 918, GTR are ALL LAME TOO? Automatics ARE the quickest on a Drag strip....it's been that way since the mid 1960's. Manual Z06 does 11.3 while an automatic Z06 does 10.95 with the automatic. The Tremec 6060 in the Hellcat ISN'T rated for the Torque from the Demon engines...so there wasn't a manual available for them to run.
2
@ZaneErickson Zane...THAT's WHY I said MOSTLY. Compared to a 10yr old R8, a Ferrari, McLaren...or even a 20yr old Viper it's...a Joke. I can send you FACTS is you want. $300k??? An ACR Viper by comparison is a Hand-BUILT (Because it is) BUGATTI. GTR is ONLY Expensive (AND Heavy) over the same GREED.
2
They Daytona and Superbirds wings aren't the same...Daytona's is more upright/vertical. Also the Daytona's front fender scoops were functional..not so with the superbird.
2
Works fine if you know how to tune it....which they do.
2
The Rich Americans. America and China have the most # of millionaires+. America is still the Biggest buyer of supercars/exotics/fast cars.
2
The ONLY way to carry 5 people at 204<205 MPH in the USA ... Comfortably.
2
Really need to do a comparison of the GT500 with vs. without the Carbon Fiber track package... See how much quicker it is with it on the dragstrip and track... Also see how much slower it is in top speed with it ( 10 mph lose??).
2
LMFAO, You mean the car that doesn't come out until 2020? This Rapes a CURRENT Top of the line $140k TESLA.
2
Nathan...but you can't until you put a roll cage in it. It's automatically banned from racing.
2
Jordan, To be the Baddest MoFo muscle on the streets. 99% of racing happens on the streets regardless.
2
@Csirkefoga Not sure, Only could find comparisons between the 2 for past years, not 2019/2020. Looks like the US and EU were stricter on different emission gases etc. EU more focused on Co/CO2 and US on NOx and PM. I know in the past 90's, alot of European cars didn't pass US emissions and needed new programming/tunes to pass...but that was along time ago. I do know Britian has a big Viper club..so if that passed I don't see why this car wouldn't...atleast for emissions. I know the ACR had issues with it's wing size/front dive plans. Other things I know european models also weren't sold in the US for Headlight/crash safety reasons. Do you know the specs for the current EU emissions NOx, PM, CO ,CO2 ? It's all a waste anyway as the majority of countries don't follow/push for cleaner air.
2
This car is so limited that most buyers are collectors......It's Not like the guys Buying these are MUSTANG Drivers, ROFL;-)
2
At 0:38<0:50, I could see a 60's Daytona wing on it...and it looked GOOD;-)
2
***** You were doing good until you said 944...LMFAO....now that was funny;-) A 1995 R/T neon would shit on a 944.
1
True anything can be modified to be fast. My buddy has a 944...there just isn't anything impressive about it. The performance, looks aren't impressive even for the 1980's, same goes for the 914 and 924...Porsches other black sheep/epic failures. I personally like the look of the 928. Something different instead of the same old 911 look that Porsche is still milking. My buddy that owns the 944 also has a E36 M3 and a pair of Rx7s that easily over shadow the 944. My other buddies E30 M3 is probably the top mid 80's sportscar. I'd take a Omni GLHS and smoke the 944.
1
***** LOL, 18-30yrs have high testosterone and are more about the thrill of speed. Also an avg. 18-30yr old couldn't afford one of these when it was new. It's actually the opposite...the guys buy expensive sports cars are the ones with low self esteem and use their wealth to compensate for what they are lacking between their legs.
1
Ian Thompson Good catch..I didn't even notice he said BHP....that is like the 1970's gross rating..which didn't include the HP lost to engine driven accessories.
1
I doubt it will retain a Big pushrod engine as the emissions are getting to tough to meet and still be ALL motor. Dohc allows for higher revs and more adjust-ability in VVT timing to help emissions. I do hope they keep it all motor and a v10....closer to what the aventador SV has, rather than supercharging it limit the Z06. Could go turbo and a more mild camshaft?:-)
1
Justin Davison.... The Kumhos are the standard and Only tire available on the ACR. I've never seen a trofeo R vs. Kumho comparison but I did see Chris harris in a Pirelli sponsored video say the trofeo R is better than the Michelin Cups. The amazing thing is the Trofeo Rs on the Z/28 are about $150 more (per tire) than the ACR's Kumho on tire rack.
1
Justin Davison....I never said the Kumhos weren't good. You just said they are superior to everything else....and I was looking for some factual links/tests proving it as the Kumho V720 aren't on any other car. The Michelin and Trofeo R's both have lower tread ratings so it's reasonable to assume they are softer. Also the POrsche Michelins are different than the Z06's cup tires. I wish Motor trend would do a comparison as they ran into tire design/concerns in the Zr-1 vs. Viper comparison. I'd like to see a Micheliin super sport vs. Pirelli Corsa vs. the ZL-1's Goodyear comparison as they are the raciest tires that are "truly" street-able and have any sort of wet weather tread design. I have a buddy that rally crosses an old modified MR2 but he uses Hoosier A7 tires which are nowhere near street-able in an wet weather.
1
+ASH27 Actually...all that downforce makes it easier to drive fast than a regular Viper. The motortrend video...the host said it was so glued to the road that it felt like a AWD WRX.
1
It's not the price that is causing the production to end...it's because it can't be easily fitted with side curtain airbags that are becoming mandatory. Here's an article about it. http://www.motortrend.com/news/the-dodge-viper-is-being-axed-because-it-cant-fit-curtain-airbags/ Also the fact that it doesn't have an automatic/DCT as an option limits sales. Most sportscars nowadays are sadly automatics. 68% of all vettes sold are automatics, Most Porsches and ALL Ferraris, Lambos, McLaren and GT-Rs. The seating position, heat/noise from the side exhaust are other reasons customers shy away. Dodge doesn't make a "soft" version for daily driving. I think it never could shack it's "Hard/deadly to drive" reputation of early vipers. The current ones are easier to drive fast than the C7 Z06. The cheapest/Lowest trim Viper posted a quicker time than the Nismo GT-R at Laguna Seca.
1
+Young Den The Viper T/A or T/A 2.0 is more comparable in comfort and performance to a Z06. The T/A 2.0 would be the one I'd would get, all the luxury of the GTS but with 90% of the ACR's performance. A T/A with Z06 tires is over 2 seconds faster around Laguna Seca than the Z06...So the T/A 2.0 would be even faster.
1
When you have a motor that makes real torque more isn't need for perfromance, only for MPG;-) 3spds are still the bread and butter in most super street, real street drag racing series TH400, C6 TH727/904.
1
Why does it have the regular metal X- brace, I thought the carbon fiber one was standard? I like that it's not the silver one everyone is showing, red looks better. I don't care for the stripe, twin racing stripes would look better. When is someone going to test the base ACR and not the extreme aero packaged one. 177 is for the high downforce optioned one. Really need to see the base ACR or the T/A 2.0 and how it runs and it's top speed. Base price is $118,795 NOT $123,490 that's with tax/destination fees??? I'd take a T/A 2.0, almost as much downforce with more comfort and a better ride...just need a set of ACR rims/tires.
1
Yeah I think I was thinking about the base ACR not the T/A 2.0.when I said almost. From what i've found. T/A- 278 lbs T/A 2.0 - 460lbs ACR - 1,101 Etreme ACR -1,500+ @ 150mph.
1
It was...it's just the under tray aerodynamics sucked the smoke under the car and it when out the back. The car lost traction after it when over the starting line.
1
LOL...he doesn't know what he's talking about. The Cheapest Viper was quicker than Top GT-R at Laguna seca. Anything but a standing start to 100mph the GT-R would lose.
1
LMFAO...Rubbish... Obviously a Fanboy. Hand built hand laid carbon fiber vs. the cheap stamped steel in the GT-R. It fine if you said you'd take a GT-R over the ACR..."the Problem"...is that you said it would Kill the ACR...and that is the Joke....ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT. There are viper clubs in the UK. They are such limited in quantity that they are hardly seen. GT-Rs are for guys that can't drive. an avg. Joe can get the Gt-R up to 90% of it's potential..while the Viper is a driver's car and reward those that can drive. As a daily driver the Gt-R is better...but if you can afford either car....You'd have another daily driver.
1
TheSamplebridge Actually there were different models/trims. The 1976+/- Super coupes, road runner and R/T had competitive performance compared to the mustang, camaro and trans am of the day.
1
True...Dodge never did get much love..even when they were faster (even today with vipers). Hell the Lil red wagon dodge pickup was the fastest cvehilce in american in 1978? I just know about them as I grew up in the back seat of an Aspen R/T;-) My Mom use to race (beat) camaros, vettes, etc on the highway with us kids jumping on the back seat screaming GO!!;-) I guess I can blame her for me being a speed junkie.
1
D Car used 5.7L for $25k? Hell you can get a leftover (new) 5.7L R/T for $25k if you are a good negotiator. All the guys that Severely Mod New cars are completely DUMB or trust fund babies. Their is alot that is different...Most of all is the Demons will always go up in value....not the same for a modified lower model. It's the same with guys that have C6 corvettes that are faster than C6 Zr-1. It would cost more to do "Exactly the same things" that Dodge did to the Demon than it would cost modding a regular 5.7, or even a Hellcat. I like modding cars so I would start with a used car...but one that is cheap $10k or under....as you would be removing or rebuilding parts anyway.
1
Obviously you are from Europe and have no experience with american cars. I've been a Automotive tech for over 15yrs....and my mother's Chysler Cirrus had less issues and lasted longer than my sister's HONDA Accord or the BMW's I worked on for a living. My 93 Dodge dakota has 200k MORE miles that my Brother in laws Toyota 4runner that is only 10yrs old and is falling apart(rust bucket).
1
True, Caroll Shebly was the inspiration/ started the whole "High performance Mustang" thing. Ford is just paying Royalties to use his Name to boost sales.
1
Shelby hasn't had anything to do with the mustang for a while, Ford just pays a Royalty to Shelby American to use their name. Even the Shelby's from the 60's Most were TUNER Cars, like a Yenko Camaros, roush Mustang, Hennessey or Lingenfelter vehicle.
1
Bad News, 2020 there won't be a Manual available in the New Corvette either... You only have the Lower Mustangs the Gt350s, Camaros and Challengers (excluding the Redeye). This DCT will never been in a Hellcat as it Torque Capacity rating is too Low.
1
suspension...Not Chassis.
