  1. Labour voters completely abandoned Labour which is a good thing. My guess is that Tory voters have shifted to Lib Dems because of dissatisfaction with Boris and also because they know that the government's majority is big enough and that in doing so, they're just expressing their frustration with the Tories rather than attempting to topple the government. Furthermore, this also shows that voters are still NIMBYs as there was an anti-HS2 factor as well.

  2. Set minimum wages wherever you want to otherwise the market will determine what the wages are anyway. Apart from that, if you want to attract investment to the North, you will need to designate zones in such areas of the country where setting up will give some kind of benefit. Maybe some kind of production linked incentive for setting up in the northeast.

  31.  @rp7773  Being vegetarian means you refuse to eat meat even if you can afford it. In mediterranean countries, meat was indeed a luxury but people would eat it occasionally to enjoy. Vegetarianism is a millennia old culture for hundreds of millions of Indians. Of course, even in India, the majority still do eat meat.

  39.  @Curryking32000  Wealth creation is an ongoing process but those who have created wealth are able to create more wealth more easily. But once they have created a lot, they don't have ideas for how to create more and so, if you give them tax breaks, they pocket the money. This is their argument. I am personally fundamentally in the camp of taxation being theft. So I'd prefer taxes to be as low as possible.

  48. To my understanding, the Canadian who was arrested was of Chinese origin and also had a Hong Kong passport. Under Chinese law, that negates the Canadian citizenship and only Chinese citizenship would be considered. Basically, the way it works is that you can't claim help from another country if you are already in a country where you are a citizen.
