I’ll remember this man as one of the worst examples of self-serving during the expenses scandal, using pathetic excuses based on a self-diagnosed mental condition. 47 years in Parliament made him far too comfortable. As for his argument, I don’t claim to be an expert, but I do wonder if it’s ‘easier’ to be critical of Israel from the safety of the UK. Living under the threat, or reality, of attack (whatever side you’re on) is bound to impact your judgement and therefore your decisions.

  4. If you take a job as a BBC journalist, you should accept that having a social media presence where your personal opinion is made public is incompatible with the role. It should be a condition of employment, and I don’t understand why the BBC is so bad at this.

  6. Given how relatively recent it was, and the associated sensitivities, it would be far better to make a documentary rather than a drama. Will be interesting to see how much focus there is on the people who did it (the real baddies of the story) verses the lazy ‘police bad’ narrative.

For a start, there’s no such things as ‘LGBTQ+’….sexuality and gender identity are completely separate issues and many gay people, myself included, resent the association with a largely homophobic ideology. Regarding Sunak, it isn’t ‘transphobic’ to state basic biological facts. The undermining of women and their safety in order to appease the mental delusion of a few (mostly male) people is the real concern here.

  30. Lee Anderson probably does ‘say what (some) people are thinking’, and it’s reasonable that their opinions are heard. The real question is whether that is what we want in government. I also think he is targeted by default by the usual lefties on Twitter, whether his clumsy comments have some merit or not.

His first wife was Irish and his current wife is German - marrying foreigners would be an odd thing to do if you couldn’t stand them.
