  7. the quote from churchill very apposite, he had a lot to do with current problems in india and pakistan. prc dug itself out of poverty, with some luck included, but mostly good management. it wasn't easy or smooth, but here they are, by some measures the premier economy of the world. the leaders of india and pakistan daily face a comparison with prc which should inspire shame. it only inspires rage. so there will be no progress. blaming prc for one's own failures can not have a good outcome. the generals will continue to hobble pakistan, the politicians will continue to bleed india, and the pundits will continue to cry, "look over there, they did it to us!"

  12. you might think the brits would wake up and grow up, but no. they will go on submitting to politicians, and watch their nation sink beneath the waves, expecting that sooner or later, a 'good' politician will appear. there are no good politicians. the damage done by 'testing' politicians is similar to letting adolescents drive first, then do a road test if they survive. the british model of government is simply civil war, with ballots replacing bullets. the goal is not 'delivering good national management,' the goal is 'getting power, and doing what we please.' of course, this is not unique to britain, they spread the principle widely while they conquered a lot of the world. and using ballots instead of bullets was an evolutionary step up. but it's not nearly good enough for modern conditions.

  27. i am deeply disappointed that prc didn't shoot down the plane carrying pelosi, if the warning shots were ignored. but we will now be very clear, prc can be bullied still, and the brand new chinese airforce is just a decoration. taiwan is free! until xjp is replaced, which will take awhile. he certainly consults the central committee, and the generals haven't fought wars, so have no prestige.

  43. just holding disparate states and cultures together is difficult, but there is something more that keeps india backward. i compare with prc, who have had much greater success over the same time period. the brits were not helpful, but the japanese much worse. and india hasn't had the usa trying to throttle them, for most of the post war era. i suppose the brits could be blamed for the ineffectual public service, and corrupt political caste? but what would india be without them? native culture was not notably progressive.

  47. there are 'no' democracies, with the limited exception of the swiss. politician rule is not democracy. princeton university recently published an investigation of the federal government from which it was discovered that voting for politicians had zero effect on national law and activity. in short, the nation was an oligarchy, with a puppet show 'democracy.' eu parliament is no better. politicians rule, not the electorate. if you can't have democracy, at least face reality.

  50. prc would like to displace usa as a world hegemon, but their immediate goal is simply to diffuse the military threat of usa, through creation of a political and trade structures . indian political figures seemingly have no tolerance of prc success, since that success throws a very unflattering light on indian political culture. well, they should be ashamed, although humans generally find someone else to blame for one's own failure.
