you might think the brits would wake up and grow up, but no.
they will go on submitting to politicians, and watch their nation sink beneath the waves, expecting that sooner or later, a 'good' politician will appear.
there are no good politicians.
the damage done by 'testing' politicians is similar to letting adolescents drive first, then do a road test if they survive.
the british model of government is simply civil war, with ballots replacing bullets. the goal is not 'delivering good national management,' the goal is 'getting power, and doing what we please.'
of course, this is not unique to britain, they spread the principle widely while they conquered a lot of the world.
and using ballots instead of bullets was an evolutionary step up.
but it's not nearly good enough for modern conditions.

there are no chinese warships, posturing outside indian cities, so who is the bully?
Philippines has been threatened by the usa, and bribed, very possibly, to join this masquerade, but they can be forgiven, they are weak, and poor. india, however, is merely corrupt. kissing the usa hand to cover the hopeless inadequacy of the indian government.
if the usa insists on war, there will be no winners, and survivors may be few. if the conflict remains non-violent, prc will knit together the supporters of peace and commerce, so that mankind can deal with the problems of population and climate.
the interesting question is, will the greedy and arrogant burn down the planet in a vain attempt to maintain their position?

is it invasion, when you re-occupy a province held by a dissident party backed by foreigners?
not many people think taiwan is, or should be, an independent nation. and that includes the usa. they claimed that taiwan was part of china while they were backing chiang, and more recently when they were trying to colonize china with usa corporations.
their opinions change with their prospects for making money.
prc will reclaim taiwan, if they can. they are sane, and avoid violence when possible. but usa may require the use of violence, as they use it habitually. there a possibility of catastrophic war there, and spreading to whole world.
chomsky published a list of usa foreign activity involving violence, more than 100 occasions, and there have been many more since. i don't know why usa is tolerated in civilized company, can it be because they shoot people, one, or one hundred thousand, at a time?

in the early 60's, kruschev got tired to usa nuclear missiles parked in turkey, so he did a deal with castro and began shipping missiles to cuba. kennedy was sane, and secretly promised to close down the missile threat from turkey. and the missile-bearing ships turned around.
but nowadays, usa masters are desperate, and must have new markets to support military,
and corporate profits. so they buy a government of ukraine, and vlad says, "basta!"
poor finland is uncomfortably close to this scene, and have never been close to russia emotionally. not even nodding friends. so they are easily bought. can't blame them. in actual fact, they could stay out of nato and flourish, putin doesn't look for trouble. still, nato might be seen as insurance.
of course, joining the other team will lead to fatal consequences, if the bombs start to fly.
