  2. did flynn actually come up with something useful on clinton? seems unlikely that kgb would tell him anything. but he has been useful about trump. god could certainly send trump to hell on what we know so far, but there is no god, or he can't be bothered. so prosecution will have to come from people. the usa is not a nation of laws, but of people. and the republican senate will keep trump out of trouble, maybe even when he leaves office. if america was a democracy, they would scrap the constitution, because they are not a democracy, because of the constitution. and that was what madison had in mind, a constitution out of reach of ordinary people and so making rule by the rich enduring.

  3. the government of the usa was modeled on that of georgian britain, as closely as possible. madison thought that government was the best that humanity could devise. but he also thought that the rich should rule the usa, as the aristocracy ruled britain, so perhaps his goals and methods might not be publicly acceptable nowadays. but the rich rule still, in practice, and in private they presumably think king george 4 got it right. mattis can tell a sinking ship as well as anyone, no credit to him in leaving it. trump's fast-draw resolution of the syrian morass was out of step with the 'deep-state' government, who never saw a war they didn't want to visibly win, and seldom one they didn't want to be in. partly of course, because they were not actually in it. but the important point here, is that serious questions are being decided by one individual, hopelessly incompetent, of contemptible character and no experience. when will americans start to ask, 'maybe we need a new constitution?' because trump is there lawfully, and is obeyed as he should be. there has to be something wrong with the law, don't you agree? 'the law' is the constitution.

  4. trump is fit to be president, the standards are low. truman, reagan and dubya did more damage than trump has, so far- and getting out of syria is probably the right call. america's problem is not trump. the constitution is obsolete, and the resulting political guild so inbred and self-satisfied that good national management is impossible. this is one of the largest factors in the decline of the american empire. another factor is the invitation of that incompetent american management to 'communist' china, to join the capitalist world trade society. it turns out the chinese are better at capitalism, presumably due to their political system. trump is not only fit, he is symptomatic of a degenerating capitalist society: predatory, no longer creative, corrupt in business and private life. he is more american than abe lincoln. calling him 'unfit' is mere embarrassment at seeing the american ethos so nakedly displayed. trump will be brought down, and likely replaced by someone who will declare war on iran, and thus prove himself 'fit' to rule the crumbling empire.

  5. bernie is obviously the better man for america, by just about any measure. yet here he is, losing heavily on a day when lefties thought they would be locking down the nomination. since they must, they come up with new reasons to win. the rust belt should be bernie's, late california vote counting should be bernies. may be. but so what? it's still just a plurality, not a majority. and since all the remaining candidates endorse biden on the way out, even a plurality is very shaky. bernie won't be the candidate. and a good thing too. usa has a 'fate,' a confluence of disasters, a well-deserved punishment for vile character which trump so well personifies. let him carry the can.

  7. gm might have done the same with hillary in office. but she didn't offer to bring back manufacturing jobs. she did promise to protect banks and brokers, and probably that cost her the office. it's only sensible to vote for someone who doesn't ignore you. if they deliver, you win. if they don't you break even.

  11. yer own fault: you know what democracy is, about half the states have some or all of the features of democracy. but you tolerate plutocracy in the federal government. if you had citizen initiative, you wouldn't have to shake your fist in front of a camera, to no effect. you could vote for action, and make it happen. give some thought to getting democracy- it may be easier than convincing plutocrats to give up their fossil fuel dividends.

  12. 33% per day is exaggerated, small towns would top out quickly, as their interaction group got sick and stayed in bed. but the important part is simply this, only 1% would die, heavily loaded towards social security, so a net plus for the young ones. about 10-50% would have reduced aerobic function, but most work is sit-down jobs nowadays. really, this is just a storm in a teacup. people have to realize their place in life: if god doesn't make you really rich, then it's yer duty to beaver away for whatever wage yer betters think yer worth. and get out of the way without making a fuss.

  13. nobody seems to think of trump as a measure of the quality of the democratic party, but he is. hillary ignored the rust-belt out-of-workers, and they bit her, unexpectedly hard. the fact is, american politicians are generally contemptible or in sanders case, ineffectual. but your problem is the constitution. you don't have democracy, you have an elective oligarchy which has always been the political agent of the elite. a plutocracy, in fact. you deserve no better. if you imagine a politician is going to look out for you like your mother, you are doomed to disappointment. you can get democracy if you demand it, but it will not be given to couch potatoes.

  15. difficult to see what crime has been committed. assange is not american. wikileaks published documents passed on from americans who had access to american secrets. he had no responsibility to usa. but he is inconvenient. if he were not in ecuadorean consulate he'd be dead. they may get him yet- britain is eager to solicit american approval and if ecuador puts him on the street he will likely fall out of an airplane over the atlantic. can't see him getting near a public courtroom.
