Disturbing behaviour. Makes you wonder whatever posses anybody to do this.
3
Informative as always, 👍
3
A very good second episode, looking forward to the third.
3
Interesting. I’ve not had a tune around the commercial FM radio bands for a long time. Not used the SDR for a while, either, so I should power it up and have a listen around.
3
More interesting snippets from the world of radio. 👍
3
An interesting look at the early car phone.
3
Several members of the Genesis Radio Group have these up and running around Bury and Prestwich. Got my first contact, recently, on the stock aerial. Distance was just over 1km with it just sitting on an upstairs room windowsill.
3
Nice looking Radio. Pity they aren’t stocked by some of the popular suppliers.
3
A trip down memory lane, mixed with the new. Not surpassingly, large scale integration and surface mount has dramatically reduced the size of modern offerings.
3
Interesting. The 42” version has no advantage over the 28”, but puts more stress on the SMA and will be more prone to collapse in strong winds, so is best avoided.
3
Such a shame to see it deteriorate, then disappear. Great story, though. At least you have managed to preserve some of the history.
3
Not had the scanner out in years. Suppose my RSP1a has made it redundant, somewhat, though it’s not as portable.
3
Another good find on eBay!
3
Another fascinating snippet.
3
Some good distances covered. 👍
3
So many variations on a theme, but my favourite still has to be Rabbit. This was my first introduction to mobile phones.
3
It was a time of innovation and changing technology, so it was always going to be a gamble introducing a new concept.
3
Another great episode. 👍
3
Very interesting. Hadn’t heard about this before.
3
Interesting aerial, suitable for the home office so you can listen while you work. It would be interesting to put it on the VNA to see the main areas of resonance.
3
Interesting as always!
3
Very fascinating episode.
3
A respectable distance for the stock aerial, and in the car too!
3
Another one I wasn’t aware of! Excellent as always, keep up the good work. 👍👍
3
Not seen these before, then again, I haven’t looked. Can’t really think of a time when they would be useful.
3
Interesting as always. Mrs KPH grew up in Salford and often mentions all the ships horns sounding on New Years Eve. It would be good to get the traffic on the canal up again. Are the control towers actually manned or are they operated remotely?
3
A very good episode, thanks for sharing.
3
Long time since we were last in Fleetwood. Nice find.
2
One of the local landmarks. I did the PW VHF contest from there a few years back.
2
Good follow up to the Manchester University video. I’m currently making my way through the RSGBs “The Bulletin” starting from 1923. I am currently at 1932, so still lots to read, but it’s fascinating to see the development of individuals and Clubs.
2
Interesting radios. Not seen a foldable aerial like that before.
2
28th! Interesting as always. Such a shame to see these aircraft slowly rotting away.
2
1st .... whatever happened to stakker? I must admit, the few times I’ve tried 4m the band has been very quiet. However, I’ve always had somebody come back to my CQ.
2
Interesting concept,. Not sure of the advantage of controlling the radio via an app for day to day use.
2
Very good video, and well done researching and collating all the information. Interesting to see the link with Rochdale for some of the equipment
2
Excellent as always. Out of curiosity, I wonder what the furthest distance Winter Hill, and Holme Moss, can be seen from? Perhaps you could email Lewis and he could collate the distances?
2
Great episode!
2
Very good. I remember Nynex, particularly their habit of damaging all the other utilities under the footway while installing their own cable system.
2
Very interesting, great episode.
2
Seems to perform well, and not bad for ÂŁ15.
2
Another system I haven’t previously heard of, where was I hiding!? Great research and presentation as always.
2
USB charging is a good feature. My Motorola ones just run on AAAs unless you get the battery pack and base charger.
2
More interesting items, and a system I hadn’t previously heard of, from the world of communications.
2
More good info! I have a set, somewhere, I got from Tandy in Rochdale in the early to mid 90s.
2
Another system I hadn’t previously heard of. Thanks for sharing.
2
It was surprisingly easy to listen in, though many users didn’t realise this at the time.
2
The Heaton Park tower just doesn’t look the same with the dishes removed.
2
Good stuff. 👍👍 It certainly looks like of the most organised systems. However, it seems you can’t go anywhere without bumping into the Not Rights.
2
Good information and overview.
2
A great look back at a unique moment in time. I got into CB around late 1981/early 1982 when I popped round to a friend’s who had recently bought one. Rochdale CBers used to meet on a Saturday morning just outside WHSmiths. Great days.
