Great comparison. The Thunderpole seemed to have more of a transmitted buzz on the test than the PNI. It could possibly be the receive on the PNI being overloaded.

A perfect conclusion to a fascinating series.
1
Novel approach, and price is good too. A little more testing would be good to see, weโll have to arrange a sched.

Interesting.
1
Always said to see a close down, but not unexpected as technology changes and operating/maintenance costs rise.
1
Good stuff as always! ๐๐

What a great find. ๐

Is there difference in speaker size? I wouldโve thought the 705 had a much smaller speaker, making it contain less bass tones.

Congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers, well deserved! 559761 165439 889871 557788

Very interesting. Feature packed, with a good use of online data to do a lot of the programming work for you. However, at just shy of ยฃ1000 I very much doubt there will be many takers.
1
Good video, as always. ๐
1
Most interesting, as always.
1
Good find on the dual tape.
1
A great insight into the early radio societies from around Manchester. ๐
1
Fond memories of pioneering times.

Another great snippet! ๐๐

More interesting information. ๐

I do intend to do more 4m having just sorted out my 3 band portable dipole. I have the AnyTone AT-588 mobile and also the AT-288 Handheld. Itโs a very interesting band. Those I can easily get on 2m I usually canโt get on 4m and vice-versa.

Not heard of this before. We are, however, where we are today due to such systems.
1
Was good to catch up, you also picked a good day for a quick drive out!
1
Nice to see night skies free from light pollution.
1
Building blocks indeed. Probably better known for television rentals.
1
Interesting history of the Manchester pirate radio scene. I must admit to not hearing about any of these. Then again, I was never a big music radio listener. In fact, most of this time, I listened to radio 4 as it was the only station I could get without having to put the car aerial up!

I picked up an FT-60 a while back. Pity they went out of production as they are a cracking radio. That said the FT-4X is proving very popular, and is a good price. Despite making several counterpoises, during a club build evening, Iโve yet to actually use one. You are welcome to one if you want to give it a go someday.
1
Another great spot, and information to explain.
1
Itโd be good to operate from there, perhaps as a special event station. Happy to help out.
1
Some good sleuthing to fill in the gaps. Happy birthday, and well done on passing 30k subscribers.
1
Very nice looking, but a trite expensive. Even more so considering they are only 8 channel. It seems to perform well though.
1
Interesting as always. I didnโt notice the top section had been removed. Weโll be passing later today so Iโll have a look.
1
Impressive video for many reasons: videography, setting the scene, information provided, to name but a few.
1
Was going to monitor on the FT-897D for some signal reports but, by the time I remembered, it was too late!
1
Excellent find, and it was great to see it in the flesh when you picked it up.
1
Welcome back with the reviews.
1
Most interesting! ๐๐

Makes you wonder what the ultimate goal/point actually was. They certainly went to a lot of time and expense. I can only think it was some form of vendetta against the repeater keeper.
