  6. @Vir This mess has happened because BJP has joined forces with separatist forces in NE to come to power in this region. The people of North East don't consider themselves Indians and don't want to integrate themselves with India and Indians because they are not natives of India but settlers from China and Burma. There was never any Nagaland or Mizoram but undivided Assam which was a Bengali kingdom called Kamrupa. Kamrupa, Manipur, Tripura were Bengali kingdoms which were invaded and occupied first by the Tai Chinese in circa 1200 CE followed by Burmese invasion and occupation starting from circa 1400 CE to 1832. 1832 East India Company freed NE from Burma but with majority Chinese and Burmese origin people who have never considered themselves as Indians although many like in Assam and Manipur adopted local Bengali language, culture and customs. This part of Indian history has been hidden by the government in New Delhi to buy peace. This is also the reason why NE right from 1947 has been in a constant state of strife and unrest supported by China and Burma. Not only Christian Nagas, Mizos but Hindu Meitei of Manipur and the Ahoms of Assam have been taking help from China and Burma to separate from India. Contrary to what you have said, Hindi movies are banned in Hindu Manipur. When diverse people settle in one area, there will be ethnic, religious, racial, linguistic clashes which is not limited to only NE but a pan India phenomenon. To bring some semblance of peace we need a truth and reconciliation not lies, appeasement and suppression/distortion of history.

Bodo, Koch, Dimasa, Tripuri (not their real name), Garo, Rabha etc are Sino Burmese with Sinic blood and culture many who adopted Bengali language, culture and customs when they settled in NE just like they did across South East Asia which too were Indic and Hindu prior to 1000 CE.

  11. You have not explained the root cause behind why Pakistan from a liberal and moderately Islamic country took a turn for hard Islamism after 1971. Pakistan turned to Islamism not out of choice but pressure from Saudi Arabia. Pakistan became bankrupt after the crushing defeat in 1971 and lost East Pakistan from where Pakistan used to get 70% of its foreign exchange and was almost 50% of Pakistan's GDP. Pakistan with its huge military could in no way fund its budget after separation of East Pakistan. This is when they turned to the Saudis to bail them out. The Saudis agreed to help them on the condition that Pakistan became a real Islamic country. This started the process of Islamization of Pakistan. 1978 civil war in Afghanistan only helped this process further setting Pakistan on a course 180 degrees different from what Jinnah had envisaged. Pakistan's economic stability was ensured by massive aid from USA and Saudi Arabia. With the exit of USSR from Afghanistan and collapse of the Soviet Union USA started tightening the screws on Pakistan from the 1990s. This is when the economic woes of Pakistan started which was kept afloat with aid from USA and Saudi Arabia not because of its inherent strengths. Sept 11, gave another brief respite to Pakistan but now with complete withdrawal of USA from Afghanistan Pakistan is back to square one. Now even the Saudis are reluctant to fund Pakistan generously as their own economy dependent on petro dollars is in decline. In a nutshell, without the crutches of Saudi Arabia and America, Pakistan cannot go far as a nation. It simply doesn't have the resources to fund its government a trap which is also applicable to Afghanistan making these multi ethnic countries highly unstable.

  12. India needs more than 10 SSGN which can fire hundreds of land attack cruise missiles. We need SSGN because China can hit all major cities across north India with conventional weapons but India cannot hit the eastern coastal China which is the mainland China. This means China can inflict major damage to India without India being able to retaliate. This delay can come as a blessing in disguise as India needs more nuclear submarines than conventional diesel electric submarines which have limited offensive application. India should order 4 more Scorpene submarines and focus on a potent fleet of SSGN. India also needs heavy bombers like B1 or Tu95.

The current supposedly leftist movement in Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana etc where the Adivasis are the sons of the soil the fight is over the land and resources between the Adivasis and non tribals who are encroaching on their land. Naxal movement has little connect with the current conflict between the tribals and non tribals in central India erroneously described as the Red Corridor.

A large number of Indians used to be enslaved and sold in the slave markets of central Asia. During the journey to central Asia, a large number of Indian slaves died in the Himalayas which led to the name Hindu Kush which means dead Hindus in Persian. The Indian troops in the East India Company and British India army were treated little better than slaves. They used to be whipped, hanged or shot dead for even minor indiscretions. More than a lakh Indian troops died in world war one as they were forced to rush German positions defended with machine guns. Even today, the jawans in Indian army particularly the sahayaks are treated little better than domestic servants a legacy of the colonial past. These parts of Indian history have been deliberately hidden by all governments which have ruled New Delhi after 1947.

L1 or lowest bidder is a must to ensure India gets the best deal at the best price. It is only when defense systems clear extensive trials that they are shortlisted for commercial bidding. It is only after the commercial bidding that one is selected on the basis of price.

Recently many Chinese top brass were sacked because of fake propellants in Chinese rockets and missiles. Can we allow shady private companies with no product let alone expertise into defense manufacturing? The list of corruption in defense procurement is endless. Will defense procurement through private companies get scrutinized by CAG CVC etc? At what price is India assembling Korean K9 and European C295 in India through L&T and Tata who have zero expertise in this area? It is not small Ukrainian drones but NATO AWACS, AEW, ISTAR aircrafts, HALE drones, spy satellites which are providing superior situational awareness and real time precision targeting to western weapons supplied to Ukraine. No wonder Russian jet fired missile at a RAF Joint Rivet intelligence gathering aircraft and another Russian jet dumped fuel over a USAF drone. The biggest challenge will be posed by drone swarms and loitering munitions. The Iranian Shahed drones have range excess of 1500 kms. Chinese have large number of such drones. Conventional artillery whether fixed or mobile have been found to be sitting ducks against such systems both in Ukraine and Armenia.

Hence, India has almost always been ruled by a coalition of political parties. Regional parties collectively are far more powerful than BJP and Congress. Regional parties are realising their strength and would like to be the king instead of kingmakers. Only question is, will all regional parties join forces to be the king?

  43. The Tejas was conceived in the 70s as a replacement for point defense Mig21 interceptor fighters. Tejas took its final shape in the 80s and the first flight took place in early 2000. Since then, the role of light point defense fighters has become redundant with the introduction of systems like Iron Dome, THAAD, Patriot, S400 etc. Forget 5th generation fighters, Tejas cannot be used against the formidable Su27/30 fighters and its derivatives in the PLAAF. Tejas can be compared with the Chinese J10. The corrupt IAF from the very beginning was trying to sabotage the Tejas program by changing the specs whenever any prototype reached IOC stage. Thereby delaying the project. It was due to pressure from an IITian Manohar Parriker that IAF was forced to order the Tejas. HAL is only assembling Tejas as Modi sarkar has forced HAL to handover manufacturing parts of Tejas to several private companies like Adani who have no connection with aerospace engineering. Thereby not only creating inefficiency but astronomically increasing the cost of the fighter. Neither the CAG nor the opposition talks about this.

  46. Central institutions like CBI, ED, RBI, election commission, etc. were always weak. Modi has only shown the rot that always existed. 1947 was not independence but transfer of power. India needs major reforms where power needs to rest with the states and not the central government beholden to one political party representing only certain ethnic, religious, linguistic groups belonging to a part of India and not the entire subcontinent of India.
