@populisttrope9385 Of course, How could I forget.
1
@willybingusthealien why would all life on Earth be annihilated if USA and China start shooting rockets at each other? I'm in America now, but I'll move back to my home country of Uruguay.
1
Why would you want to?
1
@anymaru I think more meaningful than the probability of a particular species dying out is the awesome possibility of intelligent life potentially populating the universe. Who cares what form it takes.
1
@anymaru I don't know.
1
I think there can be meaning to life, but it will be subjectively assigned. So why not do something positive? For example, one of the most meaningful things you can do is to spread love and help others who are less fortunate.

I agree with Sasso for one simple reason...we don't even know how consciousness works in the first place...so that notion that some people think we can replicate it in an artificial system is nothing more than chance, or faith...maybe it will happen, maybe it wont't... well okay. I say it won't. With that being said...I'm still unclear what some people mean in regards to artificial intelligence...are we talking about full blow consciousness... in other words, being alive and knowing that you're alive? Can we define artificial intelligence because I think it's a slippery slope for some people.

@adamzaidi1748 how do you figure?
1
@adamzaidi1748 I get your point...however... a mountain of evidence of unidentified objects in our skies doesn't necessarily add up to extraterrestrial visitation. You just have a mountain of evidence of an unidentified phenomenon... and that part is a fact, I'll give you that...but expanding that to visitation is conjecture. On a side note- I forgot to mention one possible explanation for this phenomenon... Two names come to mind. Carl Jung and Jacque Vallee. You know Jung, the famous psychiatrist. Vallee is a giant in the UFO field. He was scientist turned UFO researcher and has interviews thousands of people who have had UFO encounters. I don't believe Jung ever interviewed anyone, but do you know what conclusion Vallee came to after interviewing thousands of people? That the most likely explanation is psychic phenomenon. One of my favorite authors Terence McKenna uses to say that it's pointless talking about the appearance of the UFO because it can appear like anything. He was also a huge fan of Vallee's work. Jung believed it was psychic as well. Think of it as a mass hallucination. Maybe mother earth is trying to tell us something. IDK

@iraniansuperhacker4382 See my reply to Adam and tell me what you think.

I think the most advanced species in the universe would not be the most intelligent. It would be the most balanced, like a true Yogi...it would have an equal balance of emotional intelligence, mental intelligence, and spiritual enlightenment. Intelligence tends to be overrated.

To end war we need to populate the world with beautiful minds.

There's a place in the state of Georgia known as the Georgia Guidestones. It's a massive granite monument built in the 1980's, columns as big as Stoneheng, no one knows who built it. Carved into the stones are some "commandments" or "directives", and one of the directives is maintain a world population of no more than 500 million.

@zinho9169 We sure are, interesting nonetheless

Life could be so much better. The problem is that all we have is want, but the want doesn't have any integrity. What are we accomplishing on this planet? What is see is that we're creating huge liability and suffering for superficial and trivial gains.
1
why is there something rather than nothing?
1
I think what people really want to know is if we've been here for an infinite amount of time..like how many iterations of humans could there have been? I don't like the idea of infinity either because it makes the idea of time obsolete. How do you keep track of the date when the clock runs for an infinite amount of time?

guy man Nothingness is Nirvana, or annihilation.
1
@zookabazooka6472 Sure. In the Hindu scripture known as the Vedas, annihilation is the same as nirvana. They're used interchangeably. I always thought of Nirvana as an ultimate state of being, but I guess I was incorrect according to the Vedas, Nirvana means annihilation. Annihilation is you before thoughts, before memories, before character, before consciousness- that may surprise you since most people including myself think that consciousness is a fundamental reality that always is, but no so according to the Vedas. The strange thing is that the Vedas sometimes refer to the "I" even when describing annihilation. That's my understanding of it from an English translation of the Hindu texts. I wish I could read Hindi.

Actually, in the theory for Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man is the presumption that the humanoid form IS mathematically the most efficient form to manipulate 3-dimensional space, so as a consequence, any intelligent race would be humanoid. That's a tough one to prove scientifically... but the math supports the argument.

Got news for you... your mind is filled with false beliefs.
1
@taylor92493 I don't really understand all the technical stuff regarding what's going on with Dogecoin, but the gamestop thing popped out at me. Of course, I could be wrong.
1
Jean-Paul Sartre had this theory on the source of anxiety called the Gaze. Imagine you're alone on the planet. The Earth is covered by nature. It's very peaceful. One day you're walking along a thick wooded forest and you come upon a clearing, a wide opening, and far off in the distance you can see where the thick wooded area picks up again and there is another person standing there at the edge. The other person hasn't seen you yet, you see him as an object. Suddenly he gazes at you, now the subject object relationship flips, The anxious feeling of being watched arises. The subject that you were viewing is suddenly looking back at you on his terms. You are now the object.

It's not scary...just pull the plug. Computers can't function without an electric current.
1
When you don't identify life with status it's easy to take leaps.
1
I am amazed that people seriously believe consciousness is going to magically arise in a bunch of electrical wiring. I blame public education.
1
@guffmuff90 I've lived long to enough to realize that nothing is 100% certain...and I don't want to completely disregard that realization, so I guess there's that 0.0001% that it could happen. I mean it happened once before, although many believe it never happened and in fact it's always been and always will be. Anywho, in my humble opinion even some of the best minds who are working on this are being seduced by this idea of a conscious machine, seduced to the point of not thinking clearly. I've been coding for many years...and although a machines can to appear show an amazing display of what presents itself like awareness, what's running in the background and a bunch of loops and daemons.
1
@johntowers1213 That mechanism isn't very well understood...But if you get a man and a woman together, they can create another point of consciousness.
1
I hope you're not in AP American history because you're learning a bunch of lies.
1
@YSFmemories Yeah I don't think that's how it works.
1
@fl260 You're right actually. I think there's far fewer geniuses on this podcast than most others. But you know almost everywhere you go there's a genius in the comments section.
1
A.I can't "think" or contemplate death. That only happens when you have consciousness.
1
@T3rminator_T800 Here's another way to look at it...All that anyone has ever known is life, so there's no escaping it. You can say I'm dying, I'm dying, I'm dying...but you never truly get to I'm dead.

@simplicityistheultimatesop6571 Bro, anything will taste good covered in the secret spices.

So how do they get liquid water on the space station?

@benjamincowen-youtube2951 I wasn't expecting that kind of reply lol. But you're correct, it is super hard to find a well trained bitcoin expert.

@markreynolds7890 I'm just trying to make a point that I don't think a Christian God exists... I could be wrong, but I don't think that's the case. I think Buddhism might be closer to the truth.
1
@markreynolds7890 Hinduism has many gods. The reason for this from what I’ve read is because each person identifies with a particular god in their spiritual path.
1
@SlyRyFry Yeah man! Rock on.

@psilocyborg4775 Truth.

@eugenefanboy4478 I second this statement.

I don't like bringing up politics but since we're on the subject... The United States elections is a supreme example of both bullshit and lies, and yet people line up year after year to vote. If you want to learn American history, go to public school, but if you want to learn the real American History, read Gore Vidal. "We are one political party, which is corporate America's possession, and it has two wings, democratic party and republican party -Gore Vidal

AKA no free will
1
Embodied cognition via the sum of the parts or trick of the mind. The more and more I study it I get the feeling there is no free will. This became even more apparent once I had a baby. But who knows. It’s a mercurial thing
