@robert48044 For the Americans, General MacArthur was a true madman. Not many people know but his mad plan in the Korean War was to nuke China so much that the fallout would create a radioactive barrier to Chinese troops.
23
have you done a BATTLESTORM Barbarossa ?
22
@aintnoslice3422 >irght-wing people are so easily inclined towards (if they aren't already) racism, sexism etc. so explain why racial hierarchies are now predominantly peddled by self proclaimed left wing activists now whilst those on the right are open to conservative blacks ? you're whole post as you say is based on white countries, this does not work if you go to say, india, if a right wing white person was to go to india would they suddenly be far left for demanding white rights ? your whole post was based on social aspects explain how the national socialists were far right despite also believing in the eradication of class hierarchies? because there is also the third way >The desperation or shamelessness you have to resort to blatantly lie like this. No I don't lie but you sir, shamelessly insult constantly, its not good for you at all.
22
@dragosstanciu9866 same reason why every other countries still negotiate with other countries despite the odd, interpretable to one party, "bad faith" action. With this logic, no one today should make agreements with the United States because they could just pull out of them unilaterally (e.g. paris climate agreement, Iran nuclear deal etc.). Why did Poland trust Britain, despite Britain in the 1860s making a similar guarantee to Denmark ? Why should Italy make agreements with Britain after 1919 ? The list is endless. "Painter man couldn't be trusted" is a poor excuse.
22
Then there's the food supply, then there's the logistics supply, then there's the raw materials supply. Hence why people come to the conclusion that the USSR had "no chance" against Germany without western aid.
21
@TheBrettarcher your worthless input doesn't even make sense
21
11:16 because everything was going so well until the Germans were a bit rude in not responding to his counter proposal of joining the Axis
21
@Edax_Royeaux yeah, Wikipedia. Just compare the articles on Hitler and Stalin. Hitler is the greatest evil of all time, whilst Stalin championed workers rights and is simply "a figure of controversy" lmao
20
@TheAngelobarker as well as the four power pact which also could have avoided war
20
@aintnoslice3422 literally every country could be called fascist for invading countries or using military force. Would you call the United States fascist ?
20
@aintnoslice3422 >is your understanding really that limited Its not my understanding it was your implication. >fascist Italy didn't spend its existence preparing to and fighting wars of invasion and conquest. again with this definition, the British Empire was fascist, or any other empire was fascist. I can't think of many who consider the British Empire to be fascist. and again, I don't think Italy spent it's entire existence building up armies, how could it have with its poor performance in WW2 ? imperialist ambitions, perhaps. but it did not spend its whole existence "preparing to and fighting wars". The wars against Albania and Greece were mostly opportunistic. Had WW2 not occurred who knows what would have happened. In any case i'm obviously not arguing that Fascist Italy wasn't fascist. Just the dumb "they invaded countries so they were fascist" argument.
20
When you watch this series, it really seems that victory in Stalingrad would have been guaranteed if they didn't split AGS. A few extra divisions would have seen the Germans push the Soviets in all these areas. Whilst the other armies secure Astrakhan.
20
unlike the trickle down economics of capitalism course.
19
@Punisher9419 You never noticed how it's basically a lecture about what you should think ? How they usually end the videos with a massive rant ? They come across massively as redditors in the comments and "behind the scenes" pictures. They are the experts so they are right. Do not discuss else you will be banned.
19
and seven years war
19
And that's the best bit. "oh but we couldn't fight a war against both Germany and the USSR".... we obviously couldn't fight against Germany on its own. The idealistic moral arguments go out the window in favour of grand strategy.
18
@aintnoslice3422 yeah but those are a bunch of buzzwords with extra qualities that can be attributed to most states like imperialism and authotarianism. You say I don't know what i'm talking about, you use "most historians" yet you call Franco a fascist despite most historians not considering him to be one.
18
@awitcher5303 Except they would still have had oil from their trade deal with USSR. So the whole "defeat Britain before invading USSR" seems like much better strategy for the Axis in hindsight.
16
@aintnoslice3422 >Franco was labelled a fascist from even before he seized power. By commies, yeah, or his political opponents. Plenty of moderate right wing people are called nazis. Are you actually taking them as fact ? Fascism is probably I would describe as TIK did in his video on fascism. No I wouldn't just describe fascism as authotarian and people who want war. Because such a label can be applied to anyone. >right-wing' and 'left-wing' politics. Right wing economics favour less government control, left wing favors government control. Right wing socials favour the nation and its people whilst left wing are more open to multiculturalism. etc. >And of course, none of this justifies the faslehood of your first comment. Except it does because Fascism does not mean preparing for war.
16
@aintnoslice3422 > So Monarchists are left-wing are they? No because I don't really use the left-right spectrum, its daft. >who is using buzzwords you >Dozens of historians a And I quote "he Nazis were disappointed with Franco's resistance to installing fascism. Historian James S. Corum states" Plenty of historians also point out how Franco was not in fact a fascist but a conservative authotarian. >fascist yeah i'm a fascist for wanting to be correct and not just throw buzzwords around or are you content with calling Donald Trump a Nazi ? >Not to mention, your comment is literally false literally false in the sense that Italy was soley preparing for war as you would imply. They developed an army like any nation develops an army. >No one ever has or does defines fascism simply as 'expansionist authoritarianism except you
15
@horatio8213 "just read mein kampf" says someone who's never read it and only believes what they're told. Mein kampf mentions Poland only twice and both times it's only as part of an alliance/ agreement.
15
@executivedirector7467 Well nor does the "USSR would have reached berlin anyway". It's basically down to beliefs.
14
@jussim.konttinen4981 Yep, I like how people automatically assume the resistance "against the Germans/ Europeans" and not the resistance "against the British/ Americans". Which would make for an interesting video since no one knows anything about it. Though I'm sure there would have been such individuals acting against their governments as much as there was in Germany.
14
@n00bcreeper45 stick to Minecraft friend.
14
37:02 "We should attack Germany" - Neville Chamberlain, Prime Minister "The choice was between doing nothing and entering into a devastating war, if I were to chose, I would choose war" - Lord Halifax, Foreign Secretary "We must have a war, we cannot lose it" - Henry Pownall, Chief of Staff "War and war now with a near Eastern Front" - Noel Mason-Macfarlane, Military attache to Berlin embassy and we all know where Churchill, Eden, Vansittart stood on the matter
14
@aleksanderwielopolski8205 Did you miss the whole "Germany wanted to ally with Poland and even recognize the previously Prussian territory as Polish" bit ? So what you said was somewhat incorrect. It was only after Britain intervened in the negotiations with its "guarantee" that changed the situation quite alot, leading to Poland to refuse negotiations with Germany and be more assertive over Danzig. Much to the horror of diplomats on the scene such as Burckhardt, Henderson, Shepard and so on.
14
@horatio8213 "every diplomatic deal you made with him?" As NATO leaders would also argue; a pinky promise written on the back of an envelope isn't a real agreement.
14
@zxbzxbzxb1 Oh no, I fell for a joke without an /s. silly me 😁
13
@ritarocha7280 yes
13
"It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link of the chain of destiny can be handled at a time." - Churchill The amount of extraordinary events that gave the allies victory cannot simply be attributed to "haha oil and industry", one out of millions of events is the capture of the U-559 enigma machine. What if she was never boarded and enigma cracked, allowing the U-boat campaign to continually sink large amounts of allied shipping ?
12
and as we've seen with the recent pandemic stuff, what is today's "conspiracy" is tomorrow's undeniable fact.
12
@christianlibertarian5488 Germany was at war with Britain but not America and therefore restrained itself to not attacking American ships that were supplying Britain, this frustrated the Kriegsmarine. In declaring war, it was open season for the Kriegsmarine which is today referred to as "the second happy time" I believe.
12
Lord Palmerstone also gave a similar worded guarantee to Denmark, and yet somehow Prussia didn't start WW1 when it invaded Denmark in 1864.
12
Difference is Angry mustache man 1 wanted to ally with Poland against Angry mustache man 2 who didn't even want a small polish state to exist
12
"Romanians were Anglophiles" is that why the Anglos were constantly threatening Romania and generally seething hard when Romania said they wouldn't join Britain's war against Germany throughout 1939 ?
12
@DaliborPerkovic-sw8mh Indeed, it's another thorn in Anglo-American mythology when they say WW2 was "Germany vs the world". When at the time eastern European states where basically like "why tf are you trying to start shit against Germany? Russia is the enemy".
12
@aintnoslice3422 ok so what is your definition of fascism ?
11
Chamberlain started the war for not starting it earlier, also Chamberlain started it for not having a backbone and saying no to the warmongers in his party. Chamberlain simply cannot win.
11
Because they were fighting a brutal foe who had shown themselves to be total monsters and refused every attempt by Germany to make peace ?
11
When was the last time you even did a tank video ? 😂
11
Were the pyramids built by aliens ?
11
I don't think there's ever a real answer to such a debate. The allies pioneered certain technologies whilst the Germans pioneered others. Had Germany not been in a major land war, or defeated the USSR early on. Then they would have been able to spare the 100,000 men that scientific projects required to be mass produced and effective. Instead of just a handful of dodgy but impressive prototypes.
11
"Debating with idiots is a bad idea" - Mark Twain
10
I like how glewitz comes up in alot of internet debate yet it is used almost nowhere in german justifications for the invasion. The primary immediate instigation was polish mobilization.
10
@robert48044 that wasn't a mad idea though.
10
@Treblaine Even with the enigma cracked Britain went down to 6 weeks of supplies in 1943. How do you think it would have fared if the pre-enigma crack campaign continued ? >asinine assumptions The asinine assumption is the utterly childish thought that "it was impossible for Germany to win". It should have been "impossible" for Germany to beat France, for France had a bigger army and better tanks, yet unique events on the ground gave Germany a victory.
10
Yeah just like the cabinet meetings of march 1939 PROVE that england wanted war with germany
10
It's funny how Russia has lost most major wars they've ever been involved in since 1815. Yet somehow people are made to believe that they could have made it to Berlin without food, ammunition and trucks from the USA ?
9
Did we stand up to the USA when they bullied Iraq ? Panama ? Cuba ? Grenada ? Vietnam ? and so on.
9
Churchill voted to start WW1 when no other cabinet member did, urged Poland to refuse negotiations with Germany and then planned for WW3. Lovely chap, we should build a statue to him or something.
