  1. It serves doubly. A weakened Ukraine means the US and it's "allies" would be able to "invest" in Ukrainian industry and resources for cheap. A longer war also reduces Russian military capability.

  2. they also had something like 40 divisions in France, 20 of which they should have thrown into Russia instead of being overtly cautious, waiting for an underequipped Allied invasion.

  3. "The Russians are our natural enemy, always have been" Yeah but now they have nukes, so you can't just wish them away. You have to work with them unfortunately. Germany and most of Europe wanted rid of Russia in the 1930s/40s but the Anglos instead opted to destroy Germany and Europe with the whole WW2 thing.

  5. ​ @charlesburgoyne-probyn6044  "it's unlikely to alter the basic picture" Have you read Simon Newman's "March 1939 the British guarantee to Poland" ? and/ or read the primary sources yourself ? It's super interesting how we go from "England is advising France that they should both go to war regardless of Poland" to "it's totally all Germany's fault" in the popular historiography.
