  5. James Jamesbond The Soviet Union no longer exists, so it doesn't matter what Republicans said about it 30 years ago. Russia is no longer a Communist country; they signed into law in 2014 the right for every citizen to conceal and open carry guns almost everywhere they want to; it's an overtly Christian country with Bibles in every Russian school and Putin openly wearing a cross around his neck and making nice every chance he gets with the Church. Conservatives have a lot more in common with modern Russia than with liberals. It's pretty ironic that the left thinks they're pointing out conservatives' hypocrisy when Russia has done a 180 since the old days; all liberals are really doing is making themselves look backward and ignorant.

You, yourself, can improve your corner of the world, if only a smidgeon, and that affects everyone who's touched by your actions. Every day, every moment. You decide if you're going to be a force for good in your life or a negative force. You decide, for yourself, not for others. Actions create ripples. Those ripples cause other actions by other people. What kind of ripple effect do you want to create?

If they don't know, they think you're an easy mark and then you're in the middle of crap before you can do anything about it. I want them to know right up front that I'm able to put them in a coffin. My grandfather was in the Secret Service and I had 4 brothers in the military; I can do it. I inherited nerves of steel and steady hands.

(YouTube has over 7 years of videos from French news media and other countries showing it.) The children don't remember when they could play outside. After the last election, the current president of Ukraine imprisoned the leaders of the opposition party. Everything they accuse Putin of doing, Ukraine does.

  19. @Too_short No, the gold standard was done away with in 1971, Nixon's time. While it was dropped during the Depression, as well, it was reinstated after WWII. (And Nixon did open up trade with China,in case that's what you meant.) I bought an engagement ring in 1971. The matching wedding rings cost $40 and $60, respectively, which I didn't buy until a year and a half later; by the time I bought them, the formerly stable price of gold had tripled and I got major sticker shock. I don't know where you "learned" history, but I lived it.

  20. I mentioned to my liberal son that a judge decided that border agents can search and download everything from people's phones without a warrant. He went ballistic, telling me that it was Trumps fault for tightening border restrictions, even though Biden is president and the judge is a life-long Democrat Clinton appointee. Seriously, I had to stop talking to him for weeks because he went insane on me.

  29. I had a Government teacher in 1967 who said the same thing, and explained it to us in great detail. He, too, was a veteran of WWII. He almost starved to death as a prisoner of war, something I didn't know about until 30 years later. He was absolutely right about everything he said.
