@JesusDiaz-o2t First you make a false claim that the Soviet Republics were required to be neutral. Then you ask for a link to the document. How could you know what the document contains without first reading it? You can easily Google it. It's called the NATO-RUSSIA founding act 1997. It reaffirms the sovereignty of all relevant nations and sets the basis for the relationship between NATO and Russia. A fair reading of the document would be that NATO and Russia did not regard each other as threats as relations had warmed significantly from the cold war era. Russia signed this with no concern about which countries would join NATO. And likewise NATO signed it without concern about which former Soviet Republics would join Russia in any future alliances such as the CSTO. Now, if you have a brain, Google it and read it for yourself.

@JesusDiaz-o2t And if you bother to reply, be sure the quote the specific clause or clauses in the document that explicitly state that former Soviet Republics, including Ukraine, are required to remain neutral. If you don't quote the relevant clause number(s), you will be proving my point.

@brandonhallam51 The US has only intervened in Europe when it has been in its national interest. Being the global superpower allowed the US to dictate security arrangements in Europe. The US and Europe have a mutual enemy: Russia. If you're in doubt, just think of the hundreds of nuclear weapons aimed at you. The US has just lost its leadership role as no one can trust a country that turns on its allies.

@stevepi1 Not a flawed assumption. It's understanding what lessons can be drawn from history. You are the one making all kinds of assumptions. Appeasement rewards the aggressor and emboldens them to continue doing what brings them rewards. Putin has already launched several invasions. None were punished. All resulted in him gaining something. So he continues invading. These are the facts. Your opinion is irrelevant. The evidence is already in. If you don't understand this, you're not very bright. The dangers this time are even greater because of nuclear weapons.

@stevepi1 Medvedev and others have stated several times that they're taking the war to Berlin, London etc. Putin stated he wants all the former Soviet Republics that are now NATO members to come under Russia's sphere of influence. It was one of his conditions in the lead up to the 2022 invasion. As a supporter of the Russian invasion, you are an accomplice to their war crimes.

@lesigh1749 Nonsense. Anyone with a brain knows that if you appease an aggressor they will respond with more aggression. We also know that Russia has made it clear it wants to retake control of all of Eastern Europe. Numerous Russian government officials have stated this and it was a part of Putin's conditions in the prelude to this invasion of Ukraine. The Russian state controlled media has also made this abundantly clear. What part of that do you not understand? Your disregard for the rights of Ukrainians and other Eastern Europeans to self determination is disgusting. You are an appeaser. You've learnt nothing from WW2. Like Neville Chamberlain you falsely believe that a document and a claim of peace in our time will deter Russia. You refuse to listen to what Russia is saying and doing. They have already invaded Ukraine twice, breaching the Budapest Memorandum and international law and the UN charter. They've also invaded Georgia, Moldova and others. Yet you keep defending their aggression. Your support for Russia makes you an accomplice to their crimes. Try and develop some morals and learn to think rationally before you comment in future.
