If Russia had the military capable of doing so they would press on all the way through Germany to Paris. Yet some Germans want to try to appease them.

@HladniSjeverniVjetar His military can't handle it. His ego is irrelevant.
51
Recently it was reported that German investment in China increased by 80%. Can we expect this to drop sharply now? If not, it's just BS.
36
NATO should intervene and defend Ukraine. Putin will not stop here. So act now or act later. Any sign of weakness will only embolden the dictator. Have we learned nothing from the 1930's?
27
There's nothing "artificial" about the default. If you have a contract where you have to pay in USD or Euros and try to pay in rubles, you have defaulted That you could not get USD or Euros because of consequences due to your previous actions is no excuse. It's a default plain and simple.
26
Putin is showing us how to start WW3.
24
Modi: "The age of expansion is over." But silent against Russian expansion in Ukraine. Hypocrite.
23
We'll done Turkiye and congratulations to Sweden and Finland.
22
He lied on his Travel Declaration. He even admitted it. Don't deport him before prosecuting him for this offence. He should serve some jail time before being sent on his way.
22
@mengreat6982 False equivalence and whataboutism. Troll.
21
@eveleung8855 That explains why do many people are migrating to Russia, rather then the EU or US. Oh wait...
15
Yes and all Western countries were highly critical of China. We can easily recognise that China is the aggressor and India is rightfully defending itself.
13
@kayjr9795 That book has indeed been changed since it's inception. But even if it had not been changed, how would that prove that its contents were true? Do this: read the book first. Most of its followers have never read it. They just go by what their religious leaders tell them is in it. If you want to know all the false claims in it, you can easily google it. Do yourself a favour and open up your mind. Learn some science and logic and you will easily know that it cannot be the word of God. How can God get so many things wrong?
12
@mac-xk1ec Try making a relevant and intelligent comment.
11
@rajeshji2811 Rubbish. Stop spreading lies. Putin has never believed Ukraine should be an independent nation. Despite the borders being agreed to after the break up of the USSR. You are an apologist for the murder of Ukranian children.
11
@SeanWinters Democracy is better with more parties. Things only went downhill in Germany after it became a one party state. The US political system is clearly out of date. The two party system can't deal with the problems facing the US.
9
@saascarlson5597 All the African countries on the Security Council voted against Russia. So much for your delusional and racist dreams.
9
Now that Putin has made his intentions clear Europe has no choice but to confront Russian aggression and wean itself off Russian energy. The new cold war has begun and it can only end after the Russian Federation collapses, just like the USSR. For Europe its a case of short term pain for long term gain. For Russia it's the beginning of the end.
9
The era of Russia being considered a superpower is over.
8
@nevermorengpinas7418 If Putin has a problem with the US and NATO then why did he not attack them? Ukraine is not a part of NATO, it never had been and was not going to be for the foreseeable future.
8
Ukrainian soldiers are fighting to defend their homes, their families and their futures. They don't need orders from old men to do this.
6
Russia invaded Ukraine and commits massive war crimes and your conclusion is that the West lacks respect? Logic and rationality are not your strong points.
5
If Ukraine had the same military assets as Russia when this war started, they would have control of Moskva already.
5
How did the US and its allies "sort of promise" to help Ukraine? They have sent them vast quantities of weapons. I don't recall the Ukrainian government claiming they had been promised protection. You are just spouting BS.
5
Putin sounded desperate. For a second I thought he was going to burst into tears. Things must be going really, really badly. He knows if the Russian military can't defeat Ukraine, he is a dead man.
5
Good job Lithuania. Now how soon can someone start seizing the sanction busting oil ships?
5
@upstreamer1661 Idiotic statement
4
@tstocker6926 Inflation in Russia is twice as high and Americans are at least 10 times wealthier than Russia. Also, the US is self sufficient in oil. If an emergency arose they could limit exports and always have enough. America may go into recession but Russia will collapse. Not for lack of money, but simply for not having parts to maintain your industries. Enjoy your collapse and lower and lower standard of living. I know I will, as I enjoy my second overseas vacation already this year. Yeah, life's hard in the West.
4
make a wish Countries make treaties with each other. That is how promises are made formal and legal. Show me the treaty or memorandum that proves your assertion? If you have that document, provide a link or at least what its name is so I can read it myself. You can't because it doesn't exist.
4
make a wish Just checked your claim. Gorbachev has said that no such undertaking was made. It was not even on the Agenda.
4
@KingSobieski During the cold war there were dozens of proxy wars fought between nuclear powers. Those powers understood MAD and still do.
4
@silveriver9 I'm quite sure social media is having no effect on Zelensky. If he puts down his arms his country will cease to exist and Russian tyranny will be threatening the other former Soviet countries. If you are a coward, so be it. But Ukrainians are clearly prepared to fight for their motherland. And if you bothered to do any research, there are many military analysts and former generals who think Ukraine will either win or that Russia will never be able to hold it. Appeasement has never worked. General Clark is right, it's easier to make a stand here and now.
4
@henrikandreason7261 International resolve appears to be strengthening. More arms are starting to flow to Ukraine If they can get access to those arms, it will make it much tougher for Russia. One thing that I have not seen much discussion about, but which I think is important is motivation. The Ukrainians defending are super motivated to fight to the end. Whereas I suspect many of the Russian soldiers dread being there and are just trying to survive. If this drags on for more than two weeks the Russian army will be a laughing stock and morale will plummet. I saw a couple of videos where an elderly man and one with an elderly woman confronting and berating Russian soldiers. The soldiers acted very professionally and listened but they had a look about them that said they knew what they were doing was wrong and just wished they were back home in Russia with their families. I think most of those soldiers do not want to kill Ukrainians and most Russians believe this war is wrong. It really is just Putin's war. It is a terrible mistake and I believe the beginning of the end for him. Even the people close to him must see that he looks a little crazed. The threats he's making to anyone who intervenes must terrify them because rational people know you can never use WMD's without full retaliation. I believe he will be overthrown or killed within the next 2-3 years, even if Russia wins the war.
4
@jamesmedina2062 I have no idea what you are trying to say.
4
@jiridrapal7512 How would Russia ensure no nuclear fallout landed on a NATO country? Because that would most certainly lead to Russia being nuked. Also, how would Russia's friends and allies react to the use of nukes? I think China, India and others would withdraw all support from Russia immediately. Because they would understand that the risk of all out nuclear war had become extremely high. They would not want to die in the nuclear winter following an all out nuclear war between Russia and Europe/USA. The conclusion is obvious: Russia cannot use nukes.
4
@КомментаторЮтуба-л1т They have already taken them from stock. When an announcement is made, the weapons are usually already in the field. You think the US will tell you everything they are doing?
4
Why did NATO bombard Serbia? Let me think ... maybe it had to do with Serbia killing 250,000 people in Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo and other parts of former Yugoslavia? Remember the siege of Sarajevo? Remember the massacre at Srebrenica? They are just two of the many war crimes you Serbs committed and in the end, you got what you deserved. So stop trying to play the innocent victims.
4
@mgronich948 Yes. But Europe collectively has an economy about 20 times bigger than Russia and it is more capable of adaptation. Russia is a one trick pony. As Senator McCain said, " it's a gas station with nukes". Consider this: the USSR, which was vastly stronger economically and had a huge industrial base, could not survive the cold war against the West, why would Russia be able to? Russia has no hope of winning against 40 nations, with a GDP about 50 times greater than theirs. Russia believed they were the wolf and Ukraine was the sheep. But now they are going to discover that the US/NATO and their numerous allies are the wolves and Russia is the hapless sheep.
4
@SUPERBRETTASTIC5 The current government was democratically elected in 2019. So you're wrong.
4
@Harrock How well has appeasement worked in the past? I imagine Germans, of all people, would understand that if you appease an aggressor it only serves to embolden him to make further conquests.
3
@dontlaughtoomuch11 False equivalence.
3
A more accurate name for that company is Energy Blackmail for Europe.
3
Great news. Now when is Germany giving Taurus?
3
@cccc2740 No, that is not hypocrisy. Before Feb 24 India only bought 2.5% of its oil from Russia. Germany and other European countries were getting up to 50% or so of their energy from Russia. They cannot stop overnight. It takes time to find alternative sources and that is what they are doing. It will happen.
3
@eka9743 No-one in the west is asking China to stop buying energy from Russia. Even some European countries will continue to buy from Russia. The sanctions do not stop all energy purchases. But a sudden increase in China's purchases to a point where it is blatantly helping Russia get around the sanctions will be a different matter. Of course China needs to meet its energy needs. That is only common sense. I'm sure the EU and US have some red lines for China. It must have already been discussed.
3
@sankalp6872 It's also a no play for Putin and in a conventional war against NATO, he's toast. His position is far weaker than it seems.
3
@hamzaabdi6513 Don't worry about Western countries. We invented practically everything in the modern world and we will find ways to live well without Russian energy. Necessity is the mother of invention.
3
@sachin2842 More lies from Russian trolls
3
@MatejzKosic The US saved Europe more than once. Be grateful they have not been isolationist or you may be speaking German or Russian.
3
@yeshiyangzom8532 Who is forced to learn English? English language schools don't hold a gun to their students heads. People choose to learn English.
