  1. The glove box falling open and the tachometer randomly deciding to leave the chat were too funny. But no amount of Italian car quirks can outweigh the cool factor of a Countach. I also just love the way this sounds inside the car. So many little sounds!

  2. As a Lexus owner I always love seeing an LFA on this channel. I love how this owner has underglow. Like, how unlikely is that? One of the rarest, most valuable Japanese sports cars ever, and it has freakin' underglow. I love that.

  6. I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing the LFA in Tedward videos. I love the fact that we get to see the LFA not only in high-quality video and audio, but also being driven like it should.

  7. I think the transmission must not have been fully warmed up. I've noticed in my own IS 500 that it's radically different once it is fully up to temp. Being in full manual mode is pretty much essential if you're trying to have fun, though, really. Glad you finally got to experience one of these. If you're ever in the ATL area I'd be glad to let you have a go in the IS.

  10. The ZF 8-speed is great from the factory. I am always amazed every time I drive my friend's stage 2 F30 335i. There's basically no lag from the paddles, and I get a nice kick on the upshifts. But even without the paddles it's always doing the right thing anyway. I can only imagine how this Supra must feel with much less weight.

  11. Shout-out to Tedward for recognizing that a "This is why we can't have nice things" moment could happen when in a GT2RS. But there are still some QUALITY accelerations in this video. It would be a little frustrating to essentially be relegated to gears 1-3 on the street, especially given how quickly they come and go... A track day would be a MUST for this car.

  14. I definitely feel you on the scratched trim. Yeah it's just a car, but if it is a car you love, it can sting to have something like that happen, even if it's not your fault. I had my IS 500 in the shop for a minor dent repair on the rear fender, and they scuffed the heck out of my driver's side interior rear door panel as well, not to mention the inside of the C-pillar. It looks bad. But luckily, I won't have to look at that while driving. :D It still sucks to know it is there, but oh well. I didn't buy it to make it a museum piece.

  15. I'm a software engineer, and where I work, project managers are some of the MVPs. I don't know how they keep track of so many people, swimlanes, strategies, and yet somehow are able to inspire us geeky engineers to do fun things or work smarter. I massively respect you guys, and at the same time, I admit I don't envy you for your jobs! I've kinda been in a similar spot, where I was hating my job, but felt I couldn't leave due to how I was part of a team that was working on some bleeding-edge stuff at the time, which seemed like an opportunity I'd be foolish to give up. However, I was able to get a spot at the same company with a different team, which made it way easier. Still, it was tough to get up the courage to actually say "This ain't workin'" to my manager.

  16. 981 Boxster S is definitely my favorite car I've driven. I would get one in a heart beat. It's easy to drive but feels nice and low and sporty... I could daily it but also could take it to the back roads and have a blast. It does it all.

  18. My family had a fun discussion about "blinker" versus "indicator" at the Christmas table. My mother was appalled that my brother, who has lived in North Carolina for a few years now, has started to say "indicator" instead of "blinker", as was commonly said in rural South Georgia. I always said "turn signal", for some reason. The whole "BMW-style" stalk thing doesn't really bother me. That's how it is in my IS 350, and I got used to it pretty quickly. Though, I do like a nice, clicky indicator stalk.

  19. Having just picked up my IS 500 as a "daily" (though I work from home, so it's more of an errand car), I definitely vibe with this. Everyone and their mother is telling me to "get PPF, get ceramic coat, wax your wheels, get all-weather mats" and the list goes on. While I plan to do some of those things, namely PPF, I also want to accept that it is gonna get messy. I plan to keep this thing for years and am under no delusions that it'll look the same at 50,000 miles as it did at 50 miles. Some people buy cars to keep them in the garage and eventually sell them, but I plan to enjoy mine. I like that you enjoy yours, too, even though it is an enviable car.

  20. My IS 500 has been my favorite car I've owned. It has some quirks, but it puts a big smile on my face when I'm on it. I've also got a BMW X3 for the practical stuff, and while it's more modern and usable, both cars serve their purposes. I just like the way the Lexus feels and all the tactility to the inputs.

  21. Great choice, congrats. Value-wise, this seems like one of the best fun daily drivers one can buy right now, and it's manual! I agree with you on the interior, that's also a great reason to pick this over something like a GTI with all the touch controls and plasticky bits. Hope it treats you well - I bet the trips to the gas pumps are way cheaper than the M3 lol - especially with the gas prices right now.

  24. Rattles are so hard to chase down. Some days, cars are noisy, but when you NEED them to make the noises, they stop. This leads to the dealership saying "UNABLE TO REPLICATE CONCERN". It's a judgment call of whether or not continuing to troubleshoot it is warranted.

  32. The taillights remind me of, as you said, a "chunky" interpretation of what many cars have now. I am with you, slimmer is better especially with full-width lights. Kinda wish it was a hatchback, but hey, at least it is not a _crossover_.

Ironically, the Miata is one of those cars that often gets called "girly", but it is one of the best cars for an enthusiast, arguably, especially for the money.

  43. I love the carrots and ice cream analogy. That looks really funny out of context. Anyway, I feel the same thing - when I drive the wife's X3, it is carrots. It's not a boring car, but it does provide a palate cleanser before I get back into the IS 500. I would say your cars are definitely more ice cream, where the IS 500 is more like sugary cereal lol. But anyway. I agree, even car guys need a chill cruiser that just encourages comfy, relaxed driving. I still think it is wild that you have a GX - I never pictured that. But I get it - something to putt around in and keep the miles off the toys. Enjoy it!

I woud be hard pressed to choose this over the Potenza Sport though, since A) my car needs more grip because 472 horses to just two tires is hard to manage, and B) we don't have a lot of sub-freezing temperatures or snow where I live. Besides, I would prefer to go full winter tire if I did need them so I could make the most of the car's handling with summer tires when I don't need the winters.

  47. I had a ride in one of these as a passenger a few years back, and despite us literally just going around the block a bit, it was a fun ride. It was loud and made some nice turbo hissing sounds, and it just felt way faster than it was.

  50. I quit my first job for reasons other than "I'm moving away" in 2021. It was tough. It was a job I had been in since I graduated college, for over 8 years. At some point I realized they weren't paying me what some of my friends or former coworkers were being paid elsewhere, so I asked for a raise or else I am out. And, I was out. Best decision I made in a while.
