I agree about the worst looking part. However, I think the nicest part was the beginning.

Back in the 80s, I had a coworker whose girlfriend owned 3 houses in Cleveland. They cost $1000 each. She hired an armed man to collect the rent every month.

"Would you be mine? Won't you be mine?"
4
Whitney Houston's old stomping grounds. No wonder she was so messed up.
4
Defunding police? Oh, that's right - they didn't have much of a fund in the first place.
4
Leroy Brown is easy to recognize. He looks like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone!

You'll be in their place only if you take on their mentality. Most people never become homeless, and out of those who do, 90% stay that way for 7 months or less. Learn a skill in school, work a job, live within your means, don't do drugs or commit crimes, and have only children you can properly support and care for. If everyone did this, the whole country would be better off!

LOL!

Truth Reigns - "Black, white, brown, we're in it together." Not me! I tore out of Oakland like a bat out of hell soon as I turned 18. Anyone with a hint of sense will do that, instead of rotting in some shithole.

😵💫🤑🤮
4
Sounds like Oakland CA. Visiting there feels like entering a maximum security prison.
3
Detoilet!

@evanbrace5111 - that's what I found strange. The man said he deliberately stopped because he saw the cop, and the cop pulled him over anyway. The cop warned him coming to a full stop could result in getting carjacked. Also, if a car is stopped in front of you, you're supposed to maintain a full car length behind it, so you can escape in case you're carjacked.

@johngreen3543 municipal bonds would be risky too, but at least they don't require living in a war zone, or having your property used as a dumping ground for criminals.
3
Your life. Actually, many of them sell for $1 plus back taxes.
3
Horrors! This isn't part of the Build Detroit program, is it?
3
It IS a war zone!
3
If I had to live in a place like that, I'd use drugs, too!
3
They tried to have Guardian Angels in Detroit. Rather than helping the police, they became targets!
3
😀😃😄
3
No, Detroit looked much worse. Their riot lasted 5 days.
3
Somewhere "they" ain't!
3
Of course not. It would cost them their lives.
3
I agree, even though Oakland is scarier, due to more people.
3
For the thrill of it!
3
A stray bullet struck his windshield New Years Eve 2018.
3
Only downtown has recovered. It is heavily policed, and VERY expensive.
3
He is. He has sense enough to be in Seattle, instead of Chicago or Detroit.
3
She can catch the bus - if they're not boycotting, that is.
3
Last I checked, you could rent a bungalow for $500 a month.
3
ian neil - check out this article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.freep.com/amp/96494140 Maybe it's Detroit that needs to stop being so corrupt and start taking care of itself.
3
Interesting! New Orleans ranks 21st among the most dangerous cities in the US, and has a crime index of 5 (1 is most dangerous, 100 is safest). Detroit is currently the most dangerous, though it usually trades places with Saint Louis or Camden or Baltimore. Figure that!
3
Unfortunately, gentrification no longer works. My home town of Oakland, CA has been gentrified, to the point where a bungalow in the worst neighborhood goes for $600k. Yet, people who live there can't go out after sunset, because it's too dangerous. In the past, when a town was gentrified, the riffraff moved to cheaper areas. Now, they have nowhere to go, so they set up homeless camps and continue to live there.
3
I think it would be a good idea for all high school students to take part in Habitat for Humanity.
3
@george5955 - I don't own my own house. But I'm not desperate enough to buy in a place like that!
3
@george5955 - I am VERY comfortable avoiding places like this!
3
It's both.
3
It does look nice - compared to Detroit!
3
@calmingambiancetv - actually, it's the students who need to invest more in their education. Try being a teacher, then you'll see what I mean.
3
I guess Oakland is scarier - more people everywhere.
3
I run FROM these hoods!
3
They couldn't hear you, anyway.
3
Alan Boyd - of course not! He has no chimneys to enter! Plus, everyone there has been bad.
3
Your life.
3
Maybe some gangsta rap...
3
Eternal sleep!
3
Would you believe these bungalows sell for over half a million???
3
@alfredwinterbottom1588 - LOL!
3
That's because it IS a war zone!
3
@drew2fast489 - where's the joke? How do you think it got to this point to begin with? And don't say lack of jobs, because Oakland CA is heading in the same direction.
