  4. True forget about the Baltic countries. I tried to open a bank account in Riga when I lived there and they refused to open one for me even though I have a European passport so that is so inconvenient. Then they totally closed the country during the pandemics so the hell with it. Not worth it not efficient. In Estonia they track every move you make. The banking system is the worse in my opinion in those countries where customers even bring their meal and book when they go to the bank because they are so slow so in the rnd they made a favor to me and I understood this is not the place to go and live there.

  6. True. Sad that Lisbon has become way out of reach for many people. True also that in apartments you can hear your neighbors so much and the average apartment is not insulated at all ; hence it gets so cold and so much energy wasted. I guess, you either have to go more inland now but it's harder to commute if you don't have a car.

  8. I wouldn't recommend Canada because of all the added taxes they impose on foreigners which are usually 15% or 20% in British Columbia on the top of the purchase price of the property. Then, you will have to pay every year an additional 1% on the assessed value of the property if it's not rented for the full year. No need to mention that while people have been paying for 17 months without being able to enjoy their properties since the country is closed to foreigners. Bottom line : try somewhere else or you wind up losing money.

  16. The black list is for countries that do not want to share financial information with other countries. Very few countries are black listed nowadays because they want to continue to do business transactions worldwide so they are pretty much forced to comply to more and more demanding regulations. Panama now shares information with your country of residence so you can't win or hide anything.

  23. Actually Canada has become one of the worst now since the government can freeze your account at any time if they don't like what you are doing.. So not safe and you have to reside there or they won't open it.

  25. Definitely, they are so paranoid those americans and so mean when Europeans cross their border. There is no point going to that country. I always take non stop flights to my final destination and boycott the US so I don't have to put up with their s---t and it's much better that way. They think they are so superior just because they live over there, so dumb and mean officers without a heart.

  28. Now that most of the world has rejected the Russians oligarchs, many of them are investing in Turkey at least $250 000 to get the Turkish citizenship and the foreign minister is welcoming them. As you were saying, it's becoming more and more difficult to obtain a CBI for some even if they have money. And now, there are not so many countries left to turn to that really welcome foreigners. Canada has just banned foreigners from purchasing any real estate property in the entire country. There are supposedly not enough properties in the second largest country in the world and that's because of those 'mean foreigners' that buy everything ! That's what the government of canada maintains even though it's a myth. So, as a result, foreign buyers turn to more foreigners friendly countries and they are absolutely right !

Coming soon also, new cool off period for buyers in BC, Canada that will potentially harm sellers and still they want to really ban foreigners from buying completely accusing all of them to use 'their dirty money to buy canadian real estate' (far from the truth). All of that is a myth, of course that they cannot even prove, created by Canadians to make those poor foreigners look bad. Less than 5% of all real estate in Canada is purchased by foreigners but the xenophobic feelings persist. It's so sad. Many realtors and Canadians love to collect properties but they are never accused to doing anything wrong ; instead they blame foreigners who don't have a voice and they do it consistently, each time the market increases.
