The lawyers are gonna get probably 90% of it. The family won't see a dime.   20. 9 isn't a lot. Remember fort worth has about a million residents. Police work 24 hours a day and probably encounter hundreds of ppl and crimes a day. Every incident/call could be deadly. Out of the thousands of calls handled in 10 months only 9x has the officer had to use his weapon. I know it sounds cold but its true. That's pretty good ratios.
