  1. It's even more prevalent with other manufacturers. I used to be all GM but, they're notorious for premature failure. 10 year old RX here and I've had zero repairs so far on it. Although it is getting older so, future repairs will be needed.

  3. Bingo, oil is cheap engines are not. I have Mobil 1 stacked to the ceiling in my basement and just purchased a dozen Toyota filters.

  4. He did a vid on a clients older Camry that was bought new and did 10k changes like the dealer told him to do from day one. 150k miles later the engine was toast.

  10. I just spent $2k last week for OE wear and tear parts for my RX before some could possibly be discontinued since it's 11 years old. An online Lexus dealer had a 10% off sale with free shipping.

  18. 2014 RX here that's a carbon copy of the one in this video with 70k on the clock. Bought new and I've serviced it myself as far as PM's go and oil & filter changes every 5k. Rotating my tires today I inspected the exact spot where the oil leaks on this RX,it was dry as a bone and no other seepage anywhere else. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but PM's have always been critical in every car I've owned.This engine is not a deal breaker as far as I'm concerned. My RX has NEVER been back to the dealer for anything and an extended warranty would've been useless since I never would've made a claim. It's literally the most reliable car I've ever owned in my 45 years of owning different cars. Just think if it was an Audi,Mercedes or BMW of this era, guaranteed they would've been to the dealer for some type of failure in this timespan! Next I'll be checking my 18 GS F-Sport RWD with 13k miles with this same engine.

  19. I'd also recommend when you get yours changed to use only genuine Toyota WS transmission fluid as Amd would recommend also.

  20. I'm sure he would recommend a drain and fill only, he changed my RX at 70k miles and he said that was about the limit mileage wise to change. Taking my 18 GS to him for a drain and fill in June and it has 14k on the clock, he said it's more of an age thing vs. mileage on that car. Luckily, I'm only 150 miles from his shop and he's the only tech. that will touch my cars.

  29. Bell Lexus Scottsdale is where I buy all my OE parts and they are not counterfeit. Also, they are cheaper than your local dealership. Local dealer price on Toyota oil filter is 10 bucks and Bell is just over 4 bucks each. I've been buying from them for several years now and they've been great.

  33. What if the junkyard engine is bad? The client will have to pay labor again to remove it, a used engine is a shot in the dark. Since the car is not rusted to the ground I think the owner will get his $$ worth in the long run. There's no sophisticated electronics or components to fail on the car that could cost thousands on a newer replacement vehicle. The only downside to this is if the car gets t-boned by a Suburban.

  36. You really need to have your Honda inspected by someone like him to tell ya if it's worth it. There's a lot of different factors to consider before going too far $$ wise on an older car.

  37. This tells me to start buying OEM Toyota common parts that wear out for my 2 Lexus's. One is a 14 and an 18 and I'll keep them till the end. If I never use them I can always sell them. I've always had good luck with Bell Lexus of Scottsdale and they're usually cheaper than my local dealer. I'll be asking Amd what to buy at my next service appointment this summer.

I have the Caviar and another black one, you'll want to have paint correction done at least annually along with a ceramic coating.Washing thru automatic car washes is the worst thing to do, hand wash only. If you want the paint to look pristine, stay away from them, you'll have spider webs in the paint in no time. Ammo NYC is a good channel to watch for proper paint care. Ammo details cars for a living and he's not some random YouTuber detailing.

  42. 5 years on my plastic housing and no issues at all with it. Do you have an example of a bad plastic housing? He has a video on thees and he's yet to see a damaged one unless I'd presume someone would over torque one. If failure of them was consistent Toyota would ax them.
