It's protected with the PPF but, the paint will probably peel off when the film needs to be replaced due to the fact the new paint is not baked on like the factory paint.
1
He did so on the front of the car in the video of it just recently.
1
It's called monetized Youtube content from ad revenue.
1
That's exactly what my side mirror cost on my RX because I wasn't watching close enough when backing into my garage. Luckily it came painted from Lexus so I didn't have to have it painted. It took exactly 20 minutes to install the new one, couldn't believe how easy it was.
1
Jason mentioned $45k on his channel.
1
He also has some vids. on which models of LS's to stay away from. You'll have to scan the channel for past LS episodes, not only his LS.
1
He does, he bought it from Washington state on Cars and Bids.
1
Yep, same here, I've been doing that for years. You'll never have to replace the w-strip by doing that.
1
That's a good idea!
1
Silicone di-electric grease applied regularly will make them last forever as recommended by most car manufacturers.
1
In Jason's detail video the overall cost he mentioned was $45k.
1
You won't regret it, I've been a regular at his shop since he first opened and I drive a 150 miles from Peoria. He's a top notch guy!
1
He doesn't have time since he just opened his shop and is backed up several months. I'm fortunate to live only 150 miles from him and he services my 2 Lexus's.
1
He has destroyed our nation.
1
I'm keeping my 14 & 18 Lexus NA V6's also. Not interested in the complexity of the new Toyota/Lexus lineup.
1
Only time will tell with the longevity of all the turbo's coming out.
1
There's a Tuber called "Toyota Maintenance" in Northern California that seems pretty good. Although I don't think his service is as extensive as Amd's. Just watch, I told him not long after he opened his shop that he'll outgrow it and have to move to a larger facility. It's just a matter of time.
1
Thankfully, Amd is a huge proponent of OEM parts only which I totally agree with. 👎 for aftermarket parts IMO!
1
@khakiswag True, I was at Amd's shop last week and spoke to the owner of this Rav 4 and he did regular oil changes.
1
AMD,existing customer of yours from Peoria. In the remote chance you'd get the A/C fixed and want to go back to R-12, I have 4 cans of it you can have no charge. I doubt you'd want it but just thought I'd throw that out there. Catch ya next season for maintenance on my cars!
1
He already has a Transmission fluid change fluid change video on this channel.
1
He didn't have a problem with Mobil 1 when I asked him. Toyota/Lexus is all I'll ever own too especially coming from GM cars I used to drive. @jamesg6792
1
I'm a regular customer of Amd's and asked him this exact question you've asked. I told him I use Mobil 1 0w20 on my 2 Lexus's and Toyota filters, he said to stay with what I'm doing. I have Mobil 1 stacked to the ceiling in my basement and pick up more every time it's on sale at Costco. He would not recommend an aftermarket filter, filters for mine are 6 bucks a piece at the Toyota dealer. The same filter at my local Lexus dealer are 14 bucks a piece, crazy! Oil is cheap compared to a new engine. I change every 6 months or 4,000 miles on mine. I know it's crazy to change that much but, why not since my cars are the last cars I'm ever buying since I'm 60.
1
I call it liquid cancer. There's so many secondary cars here that live in the garage during the winter including my 18 GS.
1
Most of us car nuts hibernate our cars in the winter here in the rust belt. We usually have winter beaters that we drive.
1
Might be cheaper that way?!
1
He does have a water pump change how to vid. but it's not on your model but it should be somewhat the same change method.
1
If he says to do so, I do it. He knows much more than I do about engines.
1
He said it's coming up this fall before the snow flies around here
1
@subtegral I buy from Bell Toyota/Lexus online and their prices are very reasonable. Toyota filter bought locally thru parts department is $14 and online thru Bell they're 4 bucks a piece so, I bought a dozen of them recently.
1
@aussie2uGA And when the Model 3 battery fails the battery will cost more than the car is worth. Just say no to electric cars.
1
If Toyota is doing it, eventually every other maker will too.
1
He's a great guy! I'm a regular at his shop and drive 150 miles to it.
1
Toyota brand he uses.
1
Good one! 😁
1
As many as he's done thru the years I'm sure he has a built in torque wrench in his arms. 😆
1
It's just normal friction that happens in all engines.
1
You don't get it, it's called channel content if the engine does grenade. The views would be off the charts.
1
First time Lexus owner here after driving GM all my life, I'll take Toyota glitches any day over any other brand.
1
Unfortunately, that's the car industry in general today. My GS has a plastic thermostat housing which is crazy but I guess it works?!
1
He also bought it as a video journey for his channel in case it has the dreaded engine failure. It will make for great content in case the engine does die.
1
He said in this truck's intro video that oil will be changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles.
1
@jonathanchan5667 At any Lexus dealer, I'd order from a dealer online since it should be cheaper.
1
@DIYDaveOK I still have a fuel pump recall on my 18 GS because I won't let dealer touch it. I was going to have Amd install a new one but Lexus won't sell a replacement because it has to be installed by the dealer.
1
I wonder who the aftermarket warranty company is, maybe Car Shield?! Typically they try to avoid coverage on something like this let alone 2 shocks. I have a fuel pump recall on my 18 Lexus that I refuse to let the dealership install and Lexus will not allow Amd to install a warranty replacement. For some reason I cannot purchase a direct pump replacement from Lexus unless it's warrantied. If anyone here has advice on something like this it would sure be appreciated? I don't care about the cost mainly because a dealer always damages my car on every visit and that's why I only let Amd service my cars.
1
Amen, and he's coming back soon!
1
@jml9550 I have an 18 GS 350 F-Sport RWD Caviar/Red with 13k on the clock and very happy with it so far. It's not as appealing as the GSF but it hasn't given me any headaches. Fortunately, I have Amd to service both of my Lexus's and I drive a 150 miles to his shop.
1
@CyFi6 That's good info I didn't even think about. Surely it will certainly be a desired collectable in the future. Good luck with your GSF!
1
Great spot on review Amd! 2 things that I notice that's different between the GSF & the IS500 is price. GS F-Sport roughly $60k new GSF roughly $90k new until discontinuation in 2020 IS F-Sport 6 cylinder roughly $60k new IS 500 8 cylinder new roughly $70k in 2023 I could not justify the extra $30k when I purchased my GS F-Sport in 2018. Although, I'm not too familiar with the GSF is there any owners here that can justify the extra $30k for the GSF?
1
I'm a member of that club also and proud of it! 😁
