  7. I experienced this first hand, I brought my Honda to an Illinois dealership for an oil change and tire rotation. Before taking my car I marked the front driver rim with a piece of tape. Well when I picked it up I noticed the tape was in the same location yet they charged me for the rotation. I brought it to the owners attention and he said ok, sorry, your next oil change is free? I told him since they didn’t rotate my tires how do I know the oil was even changed, he just looked down at the floor, how many people get scammed everyday??? It’s sad

  9. The shop charges $150 an hour and the mechanic gets $25. You work in a drafty shop with 100 degree heat while the boss sits in the A/C. You get to work on vehicles that are not designed to be repaired. There is no way in hell I would be a mechanic today

  14. I am 61 and have purchased 4 vehicles in my lifetime. Starting with a '69 Bronco when I graduated high school in 1981, a 1974 High boy, a 1997 F350 4x4 and 2003 Town car. I still own all 4 and drive them on a regular basis and they have served me well. Instead of buying anything new, I will stick with what I have.

  21. Yep. I have walked out of three dealers. They will not cut a deal on any trucks. GMC up 26% since 2019, Ford up 31%, RAM up 50%! And they act like a 1k discount is a great deal. People please stop buying at these insane prices!!!!

  32. My local Chevy dealer increased the price by 2k on a used truck that was sitting there for 80 days on the day they scheduled for me to look at it. The “sales specialist” said it’s getting a bunch of eyes and I said that can’t be true because it’s been here for 80 days. They had to jump start it’s been there so long. I wanted a good deal on it since it’s been there so long that they’d still make money but They refused to even lower the price to what it’s even worth. They are greedy and shady and I hope they all go out of business.

I sold computers and subsystems for 15 years after college and finally woke up one day and realized I would be unemployed at 50 with no hope of finding a good paying job. I went back to school for 19 months and earned a BS in nursing. Everyone wanted me. I was paid for every single minute I worked. My benefits were free including medical, life insurance, disability, and continuing education. I received very good raises that kept pace with inflation and more. My wife and I worked for the same hospital on the same shift. We drove to work together, had lunch together, etc. When we retired in late 2018 we had saved enough money that our SS, pensions, and investment retirement income was the same as when we were working. So sometimes it really pays to start over.

  47. My son is 11 and loves to go to car shows. He loves to look at all the detail and craftsmanship of classic cars and trucks. He said “honestly, today the cars and trucks are just overpriced junk dad. They are all plastic snapped together and have little engines.” This is coming from a 6 grader.
