Good job! You set the "gold standard" for history channels.

Perseverance while on duty is such wonderful virtue. I honestly am in great envy of these brave ladies.

those are some good lawyers...

Go Pokes! I already loved the channel but finding out you are an alumni made my day! Greetings from Laramie

Outstanding! Opening a golden era of more THG!! I've been with you a LONG time and have enjoyed every story. Right down to the gold loving pirates. Here's to many more adventures together.
6
Congratulations on such a golden milestone.

Epizootic - been a long time since I've heard that word. Back in the 60's that was the word Dad used instead of flu. For instance, "So and So has the epizootic". And everyone knew exactly what it meant.

Congratulations History Guy! You are indeed the YouTube gold standard!!
5
Congratulations!

There were pictures in the press at the time of local Swedes rowing out to a sub stuck on the rocks with hot coffee and cinamon rolls. I donยดt know if it was Whiskey or some other , as there were a couple of others that managed to duck out before they became much of an incident (or so it is said) but the optics were hilarious!

Great account of 10 cent beer night. No one has gone into so much of the background and other details of the game. Well done.

It makes me happy to be one in a million. Congratulations!

I did a Graduate research paper on the effects of antibiotic resistant plague and its potential for becoming an international pandemic back in 1998. I used data from the Calcutta plague outbreak of '93 in which they had to shutdown the airports across a large swath of India to prevent that very thing. With today's travel restrictions still in place that potential is greatly lessened, but is still ever present. Pneumonic plague is a public health nightmare of apocalyptic proportions if not detected STAT. It would make the whole COVID debacle look like a silly child's game in comparison. I apologize for the ramble but this gem brought back that memory. Love your vids ๐๐ and thanx for the history I missed.

I had cinnamon raisin English muffin ๐ง for breakfast this morning ๐ 7:46

Yes! History Guy you are my history teacher. I have learned more from you than my teachers and professors! I am very grateful that you are here choosing to share your knowledge with us.

At 8:59 a coyote ๐บ stole his trousers ๐. Lol ๐

Yes, he got the award, but why not be classy first and tell us the history of gold related to the entire history of mankind? Thatโs just super classy and well-deserved. Congrats!
5
Bravo!!!
5
Well you are a gold mine of information so it's only fitting.
5
Your map looks very much like the Yellowstone highway map! Thanks for the video. Iโm a lover of road trips. My wife and the dogs,2 and I took a 7 week one in 2023. It was great!

I saw/met Jim Irwin when he came to our school in Brooksville, FL around 1990 (shortly before he passed). I was in the 6th grade. We were all star struck and all received personalized autographed photos of him on the moon. Mine said, "Danny, reach for your dreams. Aim high!" I still have it today. It's one of my favorite possessions. He arrived on the school grounds in a helicopter to our amazement. I remember him being tall and well tanned. I snapped many photos of him and the helicopter and may still have those photos somewhere. He made a short appearance at the school during the day and then gave an evening speech at a homecoming event. I never knew about the scandal until just a few years ago. Just as well. We all admired him so much back then. Just looking at the photo has sometimes encouraged me and made me feel some kind of connection with him. Only a few years ago I found and cheaply purchased a large print of the exact photo at a thrift store here in Japan. I now have two. One large, unsigned. One smaller, autographed.

This is very apropos for our family right now. We are planning an "Epic Family Road Trip" for this summer. We're driving from Utah to Sioux Falls, to Duluth, to Chicago, to Boston, to New York City, to Philadelphia, to Kirkland, to Kansas City and then home. Did I mention that we're taking all 8 of our children (ages 1 to 18) with us? If you see a Blue Chevy Express with Utah plates pulling a small trailer, be sure to wave!

Ireland is cool.

Thank you for honoring these men. I did see a documentary on the 100th anniversary of the sinking on PBS about the crewmembers who kept the lights on as long as possible.
4
Thank you for such an important account of our nation's history, reminding us to appreciate what so many have forgotten or never knew of to begin with. Happy Independence Day Sir.
4
This was one of the best, if not the best, heartwarming story you ever presented. Definitely history to be remembered.
4
Well, โThe History Guyโ is Pure Gold

It is amazing how circular history can be where we go from goat paths and rutted dirt trails to smooth tarmac roads and are now going back to tarmac goat paths ๐ But as for the shepherd shootout that would be because they brought their guns if they were serious they would have just brought their bear sized guardian dogs.
4
Somehow I missed your channel. Keep up the good work!
4
Congratulations, 1 well Deserved Award ! KEEP IT coming, maybe Platinum Next ๐ ๐

I just endured the hardship of moving several feet from my bed to my computer to watch this video; it was worth the trip.
4
Submarines, letโs fucking GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

YT asked me to rate THG with the smiley faces. Of course he got the highest rating. Great job HG! I look forward to your videos. ๐
4
Awesome compilation!! Thank you!
4
Everyone had to "pony up" a "bit" more, then they were "back in the saddle" again
4
Best gold play button reveal I have ever seen.
4
Thank you for reminding us of the true cost of war and of those who pay the ultimate price in the service of their country.
4
So great! Congratulations and thanks for your efforts; our family appreciates yours!
4
I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
4
So many that they lose their value and it starts to feel a bit like all the worth of a participation award. That said, can we have a National Ray Day so I don't feel left out? I like the sound of it!
4
Congrats on your 1M :)
4
The fact that he met Teddy Roosevelt as a child and ended up as his Secretary of State blows me away.
4
Congratulations ๐พ
4
Love the rhyme. Didn't expect this to be an award video :D
4
Iโm sure there are those that would belittle this video, But itโs a quarter of a percentage to be sureโฆ And it easily took more than a tiny amount of research to bring happiness to a small part of our day.๐ค
4
Well deserved sir!
4
