  43. I went to college in Dahlonega, GA. The mountain on which Dahlonega sits is honeycombed with gold veins that are said to be the purest in the world at 98.7 percent pure. It is the source of the phrase, "there's gold in them thare hills". We used to crawl through the old mine tunnels when I was in college. Most are gone now. People still pan for gold there and there is a private mine that is still in operation. There was so much gold coming out of the mountain that the federal government built a mint there 1836. It caught fire and burned in 1878. Price Memorial Hall (the university's administration building and 1st building of North Georgia College) was built on it's stone foundation. Congratulations on your achievement.
