  3. The reason college degrees are useless is because the faculty consists of ancient professional academics, who never had any experience in the work place. I had to go back to school after my employer made my promotion conditional on finishing my bachelors degree (they paid for it, by the way). Oh boy. The professor teaching systems analysis class was at least 70 and the drivel coming out of his mouth was ridiculous. When I pointed out that we use agile development now and not the cascade methodology he was going on about, he just got mad and started calling me names.

  4. Sorry to hear your plans did not work out, the housing market is insanely overinflated. Keep your hopes up even when things don't work out because you will reach your goals eventually its all a matter of time. Here in the UK people are purchasing beginner homes (two bed attached) for the price of a forever family home (three to four bed detached) and don't even get me started on the price of bungalows, so it here it feels like unless you can purchase a house outright with no mortgage and no chain you don't stand a chance. Thank-you for showing this side of your life its nice to know that there are others in the same boat as yourself. Hope you find your forever home soon!

  5. I joined Mint Mobile last July after Nicole advertised it. I was already on T-Mobile. Mint Mobile uses the T-Mobile network infrastructure so its the same network, just a cheaper rate because they lower your priority on the network. I haven't noticed much of a difference in practice and I pay $20USD/mo for cell service instead of $75 with T-Mobile. Its a good deal.

  7. I have never had a TV in my living room my entire adult life, I'm 52 now. My son and I were just discussing this, bc all of his friends do. I just don't watch TV, I can't sit still for long, and it's an eyesore. I just watch short videos (like yours) on my MacBook

Yeah, I’ve never been able to understand why anyone would choose to not shower daily as well as brush their teeth and hair,etc. It’s basic hygiene and I’d feel absolutely gross if I didn’t do these things everyday. It don’t really understand the pants thing, either. Just wear comfortable pants. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  14. I think the pandemic made me even more minimalist than I already was. Sitting around the house looking at the junk made me want to get rid of it, not buy more. Facebook Marketplace porch pick-up was a great thing to come out of the pandemic. I’m sure they already had porch pick up but I didn’t really think about it before the pandemic. I used to meet people in parking lots when I was selling something. During the lockdown I went full ham on my house and garage and I still find things to get rid of. I don’t know if I’m an actual minimalist as a rabid minimalist would describe it. I just don’t want to have a bunch of things that I don’t use and don’t serve a purpose, if it’s sitting in a box in the garage for 20 years, why own it?

  15. I did indeed work low wage jobs from 17-24. I saved $100k over that time. I then bought a small townhome pre-covid when I was 26 before prices were too crazy. I'm 31 now and I make a more reasonable/average income nowadays. I sold that townhouse to roll the equity into this one. I would be 100% priced out of the market if I was a first time home buyer today, but things were very different a few years ago. Everything I've ever stated on this channel has been 100% honest.

  22. I do not think that I could do this, I cringe when I miss out on getting those points/ kick backs. We also charge as much as we can on to the credit cards through the month but pay it off once the bill arrives.

That Tom DeLongue line hahaha, I remember when I was a kid it was just a "funny line from Blink 182" but now almost 40 I get it, work sucks.... and I know. :face-fuchsia-poop-shape: But I told myself as you did, "there has to be a better way" and now I have different sources of income and I don't feel pressured by the reality of my 9 to 5 job, it hits differently when you have a regular job "just because you want to, but not because you have to".

Plastic bag bans are another tax on the poor, forcing them to buy reusable bags and small plastic trash bags they used to reuse the plastic shopping bags for (which the poor, by definition, cannot afford). As for the pink tax... very few men are going to care if a woman uses a "man's" deodorant or "man's shampoo"; at the end of the day, most men are really not that particular. As long as woman doesn't have a "men's locker room" smell, most won't even notice what scented products a woman uses.

  39. I agree with you 100% about your discretionary funds. When I use my credit cards I pay them off monthly!! If I can't I won't make the purchase. I'd rather go to a concert or a show than eat out . If you love doing something don't deprive yourself try planning ahead for it so you'll have something to look forward too. I always keep an emergency fund at the house. I know it's there and it offers me peace of mind. I hope that younger people learn these lessons early so they can have the financial future they deserve. I think it's disgusting how they are preyed upon by credit card companies.

  42. This is a really interesting video many people have no idea how much they spend and wonder where there money as gone. I try and live on £400 a month, my utilities cost £200 and £200 for foods and petrol + odds and ends. I draw cash out for my daily spending as I see it disappear so are more conscious. I have no rent or mortgage to pay as I have bought my house. in the UK a big proportion of people's spending goes on rent or mortgage.
