Watching this one video you can tell Dave has a lot more common sense than most .

Personally, I think all the stuff you've done with your truck, including the extra tank, have been a series of brilliant ideas. Swiss Army Truck.
66
And this is why you inspect cars before you drive them people. SAFETY.
66
Not a hater but I would have used some torque wrench on the hub bolts and brake assembly. Having said that, I think most people can't really get their head around the fact that when you've being doing this for a long enough time, you can pretty much feel exactly how far you can go with a bolt or nut.

Sounds like everyone has their own way of doing U-Joints. I too have my own way or ways actually depending on what tools i have available at the time. So I won't fault you or tell you there's a better way to do it. You simply did it the way you felt was best using the tools you had available at the time. Bottom line is you got the job done. Will be interesting to see how the rest goes so hope you film and post the rest of the reassembly.

"That was a scary one. Let's do it again." Classic.
65
Impressive watching the two of you work. I enjoy seeing professional techs who know their craft. The wire rubbed bare was one of those one in a million condition. Good job.
65
The main reason this happens is the tech/mechanic working on it hasn't yet worked out a procedure for checking things. My first job was at a Valvoline quicklube shop. The first few days of the job were all training on the computer and hands on. They are VERY strict that you follow their procedure. Double check the old gasket is on the old filter after the oil change is done. Have a second person watch you tighten the drain bolt. Having a specific order things are done in. I give Valvoline the credit for me now having so few comebacks as a regular mechanic. I still till this day use a lot of the training they gave me. The biggest thing I do is, use the oil drain bin as a marker. If it's under the vehicle then that means something is loose. And aside from that, I won't walk away from the vehicle till the component I am currently working with is tight.

Every day we wake up vertical is a good day!
65
That awkward moment when: You find yourself watching another mechanic work on your day off... I had actually felt the sigh of relief when the axle finally came off; in my soul. Lol
65
No good deed goes unpunished. I'm a handyman by trade, and, many times I have gone to fix something or redo something that someone else did and thought, I can make this better! Only to find that there was a reason why they had done it their way in the first place. I appreciate your persistence Ray.
65
There's a Texas saying I'll repeat here - Turn around. Don't drown. If the water is that high on the road and you have to counter steer to keep it straight, then it's too deep.
65
Ray, I found that PVC pipe works well and if you need to cut it for clearance here’s no lose, like when you modify a tool. The PVC comes in different diameter and whatever length you want, it won’t damage the edges of the seals.

4 Year Nissan Master Tech... Nissan CVT's work just fine if you change the fluid every 30k with high quality fluid. The '08 to '12 Altima/Rogue had a problem with being overfilled from the factory. We fixed it by sucking out some fluid and replacing the dipstick with a new one. They also overheated in very hot climates like here in Vegas and also Phoenix. We fixed that with a trans cooler. The newer CVT's with the 3.5 V6's had a bearing in the case that could go bad. Some were factory defects, some went bad from lack of maintenance. Moral of the story... Replace your fluid and you'll be fine.

After COVID, the world kinda gave up. Any kind of customer service or quality control went out the window. What's sad is if those guys go back to the shop that installed that and complain, they'll probably just say "sorry sir there's a fuse shortage". I know there are some legitimate shortages but I feel like a lot of people blame incompetence on it.
64
Very entertaining. Young man wont make that mistake again. A man who hasn't made a mistake is man who's done nothing.
64
As a Cherokee owner, I approve of the humor in this video.
64
Cracking jokes about bent wands and short reach, BeardedFordTech trying hard to keep a professional day in the job face and failing. God, you guys are killing me. 🤣
64
Hi Ray. I'm really enjoying these videos. As a retired auto trimmer for GM,the best thing to do with those plastic clips is to assume every one of them will break on removal and replace them with new clips. Some may be able to to refit, but, they're always loose and contribute to rattle. Best to toss the old ones and cut to the chase.
64
Always amazes me that people have an opinion about things and are militant about things that they will never purchase or have interest in, but they will spend an inordinate amount of time trying to play down. Who cares if this guy wants 24 carat gold intake and exhaust pipes? It's his money to spend how he sees fit. Keep up the good work Ray.
64
Tuned into Rainman Ray's repair, and watched a Lock Picking Lawyer episode!
64
Thanks Ray, your cool headed optimism always reminds me of what professionals should act like. A/C on of course...
64
@FenrirFabrication I'm a bit distresses by 'Bad Boy', finding that quite sexist, I find 'focus' offensive to people with limited sight, 'poppin ze hood' in that tone is clearly racist, 'oh man - loaded strut' a touch sexist, 'sweet gravy job' possibly triggering for pre-diabetics. I wonder if German get offended by Germanium transistors? Hope they stay way from AvE.
64
On a quiet night you can hear a Ford rust.
64
Just a suggestion, I was a tire guy for over 22 years. When I came across lug nuts that were a bit hard to go back on because of thread damage, I would run the lug nut on backwards , then take it back off and put it the correct way. Believe it or not it worked every time and I even had some pretty questionable lug nuts I thought had no hope. Thought I’d share that with ya. Awesome videos bud, I really enjoy them…
64
Let's hope that kid learned an expensive lesson. A £40 lube service is cheaper that a £1000+ engine repair
64
Feel better. Coffee in the am is just not the same, without your videos.
64
Obviously your skills and ability put you at the top of your profession! What ever they are paying you is not enough! I can only tell you from experience you should really consider opening your own business. I started my business with little money, the most important thing I had going for me was my ability and determination I never look back. I did enjoy the ride immensely. Time will go by very fast believe me I know I’m a so-called senior citizen now, enjoying your videos and commentary.
63
Unlimited what? Unlimited napkins is a Jeep things?
63
First comment from Aus. Hi all. Ray, you are the 'Dr house' of mechanics. There seems to be quite often a secret back story that needs to be uncovered. So often you seem to be repairing someone else's mistakes. Your diligence and problem solving ability never ceases to amaze me.
63
I've been a Stagehand for 4 years, I can totally relate to the whole "I'm on hour 36 without sleep and I can't add 2&2 today but, I'm here to work today." Storm stress is strangely similar.
63
I have been a tradesman for over forty years, invested in excess of 45k in tools. Snap-On has been good to me, along with other tool truck venders over the years. Even when I have used screwdrivers as chisels and prybars, ratchets as hammers. Just saying, they know this all too well. Watch any YouTuber and you see the mistreatment of all kinds of tools. A welded pair of pliers is no biggy to my supplier. Thanks Ray. The old school guy.
63
I don't do rush either, the more people rush me the slower I go!
63
Good stuff, Owner made a good choice replacing all of them at the same time, just makes sense! Also, ignore the asshat trolls who come around. Bueno!
63
The rodents know when a car is not driven everyday. This person had disabled placard. It's a expensive problem when they eat the soybased wiring. Great Job Ray!👍👍👍👍
63
Ray…. I’ve been following the YouTube mechanic community for YEARS! Honestly…. This is the nicest setup I’ve seen any of them get started with! I’m sure you’re going to need to upgrade and expand eventually. But this is going to work GREAT!!! I’m so happy for, and proud of you!!! Go Rainman!!!
63
Favorite part of video? Definitely the brief "camper van" tour! To me that looked like an elaborate anti-theft scheme... One look inside and any would-be car thief will disable themselves with laughter. 😀 Actually years ago a neighbor of my dad drove cars with similar mods. He was an "inventor" who was always doing "experiments". Sometimes it seemed a miracle he survived. Stay away from that broken lift and have a great afternoon, Ray.
63
All the chrome bits were offered by Direct Connection(Mopar Performance) pretty neat to see all of em. Way to go w the Weber 32/36, a nice upgrade from the electronic feedback Holley’s👍

Hello, Ray! I want to share what happened to me when I surrounded myself with haters and tried to talk to them to remedy any flaws in my own thinking. I love to watch and draw anime and... 'anime' and without getting into it, you don't even have to go into the questionable types to be called some rather horrible things. As a result of listening to said haters, my heart stopped being into it and I started worrying about preposterous things to the point where I went to a therapist just to check if there's something wrong with me. Turns out there was - I got a bit of mass psychosis from the same type of Dunning-Kruger victims that think video games will rewire your brain and make you go on a murder-spree because they watched one video about neuroplasticity. The way someone talks to you shows how healthy their way of thinking is and those that yell at you and try to lecture you without a shred of empathy are usually not well-off in that regard. It is plain to see that the those who have worked on said empathy skills are fine with you giving a bit of special treatment to whoever chooses to support you because you want to give something back and not because you're some greedy <redacted>. And thanks if you read this wall of text, hope it helped! :D
63
Ray, that was a nice, logical diagnosis and repair. Of course, you touched the hood of the truck with your bare finger which, as we all know, totally destroyed the entire paint job on that truck, ha ha.
63
You need to know that you were finally able to push that radiator hose onto the water pump neck because I was holding my mouth in the right position and tilted my head just right. I make myself tired trying to help you. 😁
63
Seasoned Tech on this channel. You know the safeguards to keep in mind when it is just an oil change. Fun fact. I once had a vehicle flat bedded to the dealership for a no-run complaint. I was able to verify a good battery and good engine crank. My next step was to verify the fuel level. The walk light was active. I had my customer service guy get a lot Tech to add fuel to the vehicle before I proceeded any further. Surprise, there is no problem with your brand new less than 50 miles on the odometer dodge challenger. We will not be paying the tow fee.
63
As a Former Corp Investigator, we call those...."Sales Floor Rentals" LMAO!
63
Ray as a mechanic, you must always remember this: "the angle of the dangle is inversely proportional to the heat of the meat, provided that the maxis of the axis, and the gravity of the cavity, remain constant.
63
You’re a good dude. The music criticism is only cause we care and want your channel to be great. Most don’t like music done with a talking type video. We’re not annoying, we just care.
62
Self isolating after testing positive for Covid. There is a positive to this though as I have found your channel! Love all the videos and the way you present them. Thank you from Lincoln, UK.
62
All my assault air guns where lost in a boating accident. Feelsbadman. Rad stuff per usual Ray.
62
The wife unit is a keeper!
62
