M269 is a very old subclad of R1b. It originated during the late Neolithic period in the Pointic Stepps. Other subclads have been derived from M269. Such as U106 - progenitors of Germanic culture and language, L21 the Bell Beaker Folk and U152 - Urnfield or Hallstatt Folk - the progenitors of Celtic culture and language.

Further to my DNA testing I am a direct descendent of Birger Jarl of Sweden who lived from 1210 until 1266 making him my 32nd great grandfather . I am I1M253a2b and we all have a common ancestor who lived about 5000 years ago in Southern Sweden ,though some researchers give the lower River Elbe basin as its origin .Time to the most recent common ancestor is about 2600 years .

I love these DNA presentations even when I don’t share any of their genetic background!! So interesting to see human migration patterns. Always on the move!!!! Thanks so much!

I'm from Colombia and my DNA test showed 80% Spanish, 15% Italian, 4% South American native 1% Neanderthal

Thankyou so much Steven. I’ve already watched it over a few times already. I hope to visit one day. Fun fact: Coel Hen is apparently the man in the song “Old King Cole was a merry old soul, and a merry old soul was he!”

Intriuging, but I think we're missing something. Rome had occupied the province of Britannia for around 400 years by the time they pulled out. If it weren't for the soft culture reset done by the Anglo-Saxons, I think we could expect to see a lot more roman influence in the Britonnic culture. Perhaps they could have even spoken a romance language? I mean, the romanization of the britons had already gone through, hadn't it?

Oh my god, my ears feel like they've been dragged down a dirty pub laiden, spittle covered, london alley.

Thanks for the interesting video. I’m from the Sámi from my mom’s side. So I’m a mixture of Finnish, Sámi, about 2% Swedish and 12% Norwegian.
13
By far the rarest eye color, glad I have them.
13
A small correction on the pronunciation of “dyfed”, you said it like (da-ved) when it’s a (duh-ved). The ‘a’ sound makes it sound more like the Welsh for David (Dafydd). Gwynedd was spot on though.
13
I'm half Irish decent. That's where my grey eyes come from! Both my parents had hazel.
13
Yes. Family farm in Yorkshire for 200 years. But I don't think that I look anything like a typical Yorkshire person: I have black hair and green eyes and light skin that burns in winter, like Severus Snape from Harry Potter.

Texan. Ancestry British and Danish. R1b

Hi, Steven. Thank you very much for your short analysis on Scottish DNA. I do a lot of family history, and I have a 23% DNA match for Scotland, and a 19% DNA match for Ireland (mostly near Donegal). I have worked on family history for 53 years, and the advent of computer, internet, and DNA has confirmed my research and clarified it. - David Menke, Tucson, Arizona, USA.

im 97.6% Celt and 2.4% Finnish

There's nothing more enjoyable then having a beer while watching about the yamnayas after work

My moms side of the family is from Karelia and my dads side is from Wales. Weve owned Huskies for most of my life and ive always had a special connection with them. I honestly never knew about the possible Siberian connections between Finns and the Uralic/Siberian peoples. Perhaps my ancestors long ago once owned Huskies in their native land and thats why im so gravitated towards them. But maybe im just schizo who knows aha! Great video man!
12
I am a Hindu brahmin. I have 13% Irish ancestry
12
I'm half English and half Scottish. Scottish (Isle of Skye) mum, English dad (Isle of Sheppy). I grew up moving between England and Scotland, so my accent is weird 😂
12
My 12th great grandfather (A Welshman whose name has been passed down through the generations to me) was one of the ship captains that brought people to Jamestown in 1607. He also captained The Virginia, the first ship built in the new world. This information is interesting and well presented. Thank you!
12
Have you taken a dna test? Curious to know what that says
12
I think that the reflection of sunlight on snow and the seafood diet rich in vitamin D play a major role in the fact that the Inuit are darker than Europeans in addition to the East Asian origins of the Inuit
12
I think Bede (or his source) was just indulging in a bit of Early Medieval folk etymology (the same kind that had the Britons descending from Brutus).
12
I like your accent. Hi from a German in Germany 👋
12
Great to be part of the Indo-European line (either culturally, linguistically or genetically). Amazing vid as always 👏👏

I am first redhead with blue eyes in my family of blonds blue eyes on both mother and father sides our family has been in northern Germany for atleast 500 years that we know of. All 3 of my sisters blond blue eyes like ther rest of my family all the men and women.

Wow! Just last weekend I checked my 23 & Me profile, and was shocked to discover that my paternal haplogroup has been reclassified as R-M167. The haplogroup has its origins in the Pyrenees Mountains of the Spanish-French border. It is most prevalent among Catalonian and Aragonese men, according to Wikipedia. Here's the perplexing part. My father's male lineage can be traced back to 1315 in Staffordshire, England; and 23 & Me classifies me as 94% British and 5% other Northern European.
12
I'm Portuguese and these are my DNA results: •44% Iberian (Portugal and Brazil- Minas Gerais) •13.1% Italian •13% Irish, Scottish and Welsh •12.1% Sardinian •16.5% North African •1.3% Nigerian
12
Imagine if people found a pyramid in Scotland!

I have blue eyes, and I prefer shopping in certain stores compared to others just because of the harsh lighting.
12
I have green eyes and red hair
12
Scouser here , mainly Irish dna with some Scottish Welsh English and Norwegian thrown in
12
My half Italian / half Spanish wife actually looks Scandinavian. Most likely a lot a Goths and Lombards in her ancestry. I know her mother's Spanish side was descended from Spanish Noble Families, and her father of 100% Northern Italian ancestry has very light skin and blue eyes.
12
The Berbers certainly have a high ratio of blue and grey eyes, noticeable with a lot of Berber footballers playing in the Netherlands and France. That goes back centuries due to their movements and trading.
12
My YouTube handle is my first name and "Son of William", Williams being the family line that connects me to the Mackenzie and Stewart clan, as well as Grant and Cathcart clans through marriages. My ancestors went from Scotland to N. Ireland, then fled the uprising and went to Boston and Nova Scotia. My lowland ancestors wound up in Virginia and Maryland. Highland clearances, a taste for adventure and a promise of freedom and owning your own land again brought my family to America, and I'm proud to be a Scottish American. 🇺🇸🏴
12
I have a photo (1880's) of my ancestor Mary McLeod, born in Sydney Australia. She had dark hair and blue eyes, No Red hair. Her mother was born in Shetland Island and father from Edinburgh.
12
I believe I'm fourth generation Scottish. My grandfather used to tell me. You're the son of the son of a horse thief and that's why we live here now.
12
I love the way you speak. Never change!
12
I have green eyes with a light brown ring around the pupil. Scottish ancestery and my father was Croation. My eyes are extremely light sensitive as I have very little melanin in the back of my eye. Very fair skin, light brown hair and light freckles. From the USA.
12
He's Scottish though
12

I would like to know the genetics of France in regards to how much of the Gauls are still present and where geographically they reside.
12
I have dark green eyes and dark brown hair, from Sweden.

Someone asked me what the film was about and I replied “everything”. It is such a simple story that works on so many levels. Profound questions about culture/civilisation and nature/humanity. End of innocence. Irish mythology. Why are we here. You can watch and absorb all in such a beautiful film. Script, acting, cinematography, music, all perfect. In my top ten. I love your insight into the Banshee - thank you.
12
Yep - I have hazel eyes and thank you for confirming this for me. My heritage is Scottish/Irish primarily.
12
Finally a proper review and clear understanding of the film. Thanks for this.
