My mom’s maiden name is Chisholm. We’ve traced back to my 5x great grandfather but then get stuck when it comes to his parentage and place of birth. Born around the time of Cullodan. He married a Simpson in Carlisle. Also have Cannon from my 3x great grandmother.

Even E1b1b is almost 100% made of E-v13, which is almost the only one and exclusive european sub-haplogroup from the entire E tree haplogroup.

I have one Germanic ancestor (from Baden, born in 1840), a 3rd great grandfather. I grew up with a German maiden name. I even took German in College! Then my tests came back and I traced my paper trail… No German 😂 Thanks for this video. My dad, a direct ancestor, had his haplo come back as R-Z253, which is downstream of R-M269 (Irish type 3) and it’s always thrown me off. His results do not say German; he comes back as 1.3 Scandinavian and 1.4 Eastern European (specifically from his paternal side) I guess the haplo could indeed fit? Help me make sense of this 😅

Mate, suspiciously enough in your neighbour country we also have "San Juan" and "noche de todos los santos". These are very likely the Catholic adaptations for Beltane and Samhain. Not oly in regions close to "ancient celtic" zones but at the east coast of iberian peninsula. In San juan people used jump over bonfire, in the other festivity there was the belief that dead spirits come back at that night. Camisa, lagarto, conejo, colmena and many other spanish words are related to celtic language. On top of that, the vast majority of our DNA belongs to haplogroup R1b which is suspiciously again the same predominant DNA of nowadays "celts". Greetings

Keep going bro your channel is going to be huge.

I have the L2 and U152 markers. Sometimes I feel barbaric when I think about it.

Found this very interesting. Though my family has been in England since 1840s, My recent DNA test revealed me to be 50% Irish, 35% Scots. The rest is English, German and Welsh. My Surname is of Gael origin, from a large well-known Clan originating around Loch Lomand and Loch Sloy. A branch went to Ulster. My DNA map was mostly from North Lenister, and North Antrim. Plus Western Isles of Scotland, and of course North East England. The direct ancestor of mine who arrived here from Ireland, has well over a thousand decendents here on Tyneside and all over the world, Canada, USA and Australia.

According to Eupedia's DNA page the progenitors of Celtic culture and language - the Urfield Folk have a YDNA signature of R1b-U152. Very few of the Insular Celts have this particular YDNA signature, but it is more frequently found among English males. More ironically it has its highest occurence in that part of England where the Anglo-Saxons first settled. i.e. along the southern and eastern coasts. The same level of occurence can also be found in SE Scotland - from the Boarders to Tayside.

We Know that Scotia Minor (Scotland) and Scotia Major (Éire) were one Nation on two islands The connection even lasted as the Last High King of Ireland was William De Bruse, Roberts Older Brother, Dam autocorrect.
12
Loads of those names in Newcastle. I was married to a McDonald, my daughters with a Stewart. My family settled in Scotland, but before that, I think it was Ireland. Two of my sisters married Scotsmen, Kilmarnock and the Isle of Skye. We also have France, the Jacques family,Danish and Swedish before it and Spain.

I have hazel eyes, both my parents had blue, however my father's first passport described his eyes as hazel. He lived in Egypt as a boy. His eyes were blue all the years I knew him.

Cornwall is a Celtic nation with it's own language and identity!

Hey Celtic History Decoded - in context of your interpretation about including "She," you are likely dead on. Colm mentions that he liked the title of his song because IT INCLUDES TWO SHE SOUNDS. Thanks for pointing this out, you've added another level of enjoyment of this film. Yes I saw it and if it holds in theaters I will likely see it again so I can appreciate without the impatient idiot behind me tapping his feet in boredom. This film is definitely lost on those who take in the eyecandy and explosions of standard popcorn movies. It really affects the viewing when people can't help but foist their opinions through chat, gestures and noise. And to hell with whomever allowed plastic-wrapped candies in theaters.

Informative as always your videos Celtic culture is little known especially in Italy although we had gaulish presence here we need informations about your great civilization. Thanks my friend! 😊 🇮🇹🇮🇪🏴🏴

I once read that it was the Picts that came from Scythia, not the Scots. - That the term 'Scot' came from the 'Scotti' of Ireland and that Scotland didn't exist until the Picts merged with Dal Raita under Keneth MacAlpin. - Jeez, i feel woefully under-educated on these topics! 🤣
12
Brown hair, green eyes and I am only one in my family with green eyes. I am half Norwegian, 4/8 Scottish, 1/8 Cherokee. The milk man had brown eyes.
12
I am a McLean from South Africa living in Denmark the last 49 years. Love Scotland - visited Mull and Duart Castle some years ago with my sons. Thanks for your video.
12
I couldn't help but notice a few of the men rowing that ship are doing more splashing than rowing. I have spent days in a canoe.
12
I have very dark green eyes. They are forest or pine 🌲 green.
12
I want to visit Ireland ❤
12
Why does Breton have the same national anthem as wales?
11
My daughter and son got DNA results of 95% Scottish from the Hebrides 4% Germanic 1% Icelandic. We are from a predominantly Scottish area of Eastern Canada.
11
Nice, the Galatians in the new covenant are Israelites, have you read the Scottish declaration of Arbroath? It talks about their travels from Scythia and earlier Israel.
11
I m spaniard, so maybe welsh people are our far cousins?
11
I'm 60% English, remaining 40% is Scottish, German, and Dane! I'm R1b-u106-z156. My family left England for America in the 16th century, but we've remained firmly Anglo, genetically speaking.
11
Interesting, Thankyou.
11
Ha en flott dag! - Have a great day! 🙂🙂
11
the celtic influence is still very relevant in north-western iberia with thousand years old traditions like the Caretos still being practiced in Northern Portugal/ Galicia and Asturias
11
Green eyes, fair hair, pale skin and freckles…love my eye colour! I’m from the UK, but I believe I have Irish ancestry. My mum also has green eyes, but my dad’s eyes are brown, as are my sister’s

Hello from Australia, from a proud descendant of Lochiel Cameron Clan. Fascinating History.
11
If I can understand your accent perfectly and with a familiar fashion like this yes, there's a connection :D
11
I know that Romans described Picts & Cimbri as gray eyed people. They said Franks as having Bluish Gray yes. Procopius said Slavs had gray eyes. I am certainly attracted to women with off color eyes.
11
There are more of Celtic decedents in England than in Scotland, Ireland and Wales put together
11
I wish the Celts (Gauls, Britons, Gaels, Picts) had stayed united to keep out the Romans. I know there’s a huge Roman fandom, but I always thought they were war mongers.
11
There is an interesting history of Breton onion farmers sailing to Plymouth and travelling in the area selling onions. I come from a long line of Cornwall and Devon families. There is a family " story" from one of my Cornwall lines of an onion seller way back taking on a cornish surname!!
11
Don't forget that Alsace and Lorraine were part of Frankish Lotharingia and remained primarily Germanic culturally and genetically until WW2.
11
Hazel here!! Dominantly Brown but switch to green frequently.
11
I’d figure DNA wise it’s the whole southern and Appalachian region settled by so many Scotch-Irish.
11
When I worked in northern Italy some years ago I was surprised to see natural red headed Italian girls, they were probably descendants of these ancient Celts looking at it now , thanks for another informative video
11
Many of the troops stationed in Britannia, around the time of Hadrian and after, were recruited from the Low Countries and Gaul, sharing a very close genetic heritage with the native Britons. Almost the only actual native Romans present would have been officers and administrators. No doubt they left some genetic legacy, particularly in the places where they were concentrated. But the Roman impact was more cultural and technological, in the realm of ideas rather than chromosomes.
