  9. Scottish lass living in Scotland here. Sir Niall Campbell is my 18th great grandfather. He was Robert The Bruceā€™s wingman. I did the paper trail from my father to his great grand father Donald Campbell of Mull then father of father of father until 1091 finishing with Archibald laird of lochow and wife Eva Oā€™Duibhne. They were all Lairds of Loch Awe Scammadale and Dunstaffnage. I did actually go further back from there taking me to Dunbartonshire castle where the lineage gets pretty jaw dropping albeit a wee bit fantastical. Iā€™ve been assured that even as early as the dark ages the recordings of this particular paternal heritage is quite well documented due to the nobility. Sorry for the extra long comment. Hopefully I havenā€™t bored anyone as I know these types of claims seem ludicrous. I would feel that way too if I hadnā€™t had it verified numerous times. Great video btw šŸŒæ

American with Finnish Ancestry on both sides (father and mother) Finns My Y DNA Haplogroup is a branch from the I1-L258 subclade It is exclusive to Finland, and is said to have arrived in there around 1.AD from lower Sweden. My fathers family comes from South Ostrobothnia. My Mtdna from my mothers side is Haplogroup H3 and comes from North Ostrobothnia. Been waiting for this video, you great work! I would love to know more about the Finnish I1 history in the Nordic Bronze Age, before its arrival in Finland. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on this.

(4:22) it took the Romans quite a bit of time to conquer Iberia due to the fact that one man named Viriathus went on a guerrila war against the Roman, after his people were betreayed and massacred by the romans when they tried to surrender. it ressulted in very humiliating defeats for Rome, which in the end, unable to defeat Viriathus, payed two of his bodyguards to kill him in his sleep. Today Viriathus is held as a national hero and important figure of portugal.

  22. I am 76 years, my blond hair is now again the same color it was when I was birth to five years. As I grew I became more "dishwater" (as we say in MN) blond, I wanted blond hair and began changing to a lighter blond at 16. Once I became 70, I used less and less Sun-In; now at 76 I no longer need to change my hair color lighter, it is as blond as it was when I was a toddler.

So Iv been researching my family history , my 7th great grandfather is Robert / Robin Love who fought in this battle with the McGregor clan whoā€™s name was banished , he was a decedent of Rob Roy , Robin settled in Sanquhar and thereā€™s a book about it called memoirs of Sanquhar Kirk , so many of my family are buried there ,thank you for this video šŸ“󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁓ó æā™„ļø

  29. The family story passed to me is that I had Norwegian ancestors. I did some family tree research and found out I actually have ancestors from Denmark (surname Nielsen). It was interesting to me to find out where he was born and then do some reading about the history of the region. Appreciate the upload!

Iā€™ve already traced my Dads Welsh side back to The House of Mathrafal, and way further back to Afallach, the son of Beli Mawr. My Mother still insists on the story that my Nan passed on, that we are descended from Sir James Douglas of Lanarkshire, which I havenā€™t found a trace of yet. I love my Ancestry so much, its fascinating. Your Norway info, might be a lead I need to look intoā€¦but Iā€™m not sure Iā€™ll find a Viking in any records Lol šŸ˜†

  37. I'm writing this comment as I sit in my Winnebago parked on the Hon-Dah RV Resort on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona. One of these Viking encounters I've come across involved the Norsemen giving the natives milk as a friendly gesture. The natives woke up that night vomiting and suffering from severe diarrhea. Convinced that the Norsemen had poisoned them, the natives later attacked. Having grown up in my Anglo-Saxon version of America, I was quite surprised as a teenager to learn that some people can't drink milk. My brother and I went through it such that my mother swore at one point she was going to buy a cow. I asked one of the Apache waitresses over at the Indian Pine Restaurant whether she could drink it. She said she could tolerate it, but had members of her family for whom it was the intestinal kiss of death. Interesting that lactase-persistent Indo-Europeans developed their traits not too terribly far from where Native Americans originated, and that the first instance of blond hair was found in south-central Siberia--much closer to the area in question. What a genetically diverse region.

  41. As an American whose family roots date back to the mid-1600s on my father's side and the early 1700s on my mother's, my genetics are largely representative of colonial America. When I got back a 23-and-Me report that showed a tiny admixture of Scandinavian, I had to sit down and think where it came from. Yes, there were Swedes in North America in the 1600s, but I suspect the admixture came as part of one of the last waves of Northwest European immigration: the Irish.

  43. I have I1 paternal haplogroup, which is an indicator of Viking origin. Family tradition is we came to the Elbe River in the 9th century and settled there, most likely as Vikings but as a stop gap against other Vikings invading, for they settled along the river only 25 miles from the sea. As a foot note, the I1 haplogroup were hunter/gatherers and did not mix with the farming groups despite living alongside them for centuries. When I found this out, I wondered if it was because they could not digest the grain farmers ate. So, I cut out grain from my diet and am doing much better!

  44. Iā€™m Irish/Scottish/welsh and German with a small amount of Native American, South Asian, and African DNA on 23andme and I have gray eyes. They usually look dark gray but can also look grey green or gray blue. I also have olive skin and my alleles on some of my skin pigmentation genes cause darker skin and hair pigmentation so i think itā€™s interesting how I got gene variants for eye color that make my eyes lighter pigmented but also several gene variants and alleles for darker skin and hair. Particularly, my genotype for the SLC45A2 gene (one of the main skin pigmentation genes) on 23andme is CG, the C allele is virtually absent in Europeans and it comes from my small amount of Native American ancestry. I think itā€™s cool how itā€™s possible to have both lighter pigmentation genetic variants while also having darker pigmentation variants in the same person.

Perhaps the presence of the Celts in Portugal justifies the fact that my mother had blue eyes, very white skin and beautiful black hair, in a village where there were only brown eyes and dark skin. This village is located in the North of Portugal, full of legends and mysteries...Greetings
