You didn't miss a thing. It was great. I never realized the brand until I've read the comments. I'll post your video on FB. Thank you!

Hey. This was the first time I felt compelled do comment on one of your videos because you didn't talk about e vehicles downsides, from a life cycle analysis standpoint. (I plan on getting an e car but I like balanced discussions) But I was glad to see your pinned comment, we are all learning. Have a nice day

I don't think this was a problem at all. Sure this was sponsored by BMW - and that might be different than what you normally do. But hey Derek has got to eat!!! Nothing you said was incorrect. I think people who have a problem with electric cars have a problem with this video by definition.

I think most of us enjoyed the video. Don't beat yourself up over youtube comments.

AnacondaHL and what about the oil we extract and transporting it to the fuel pumps from all around the world? Whataboutism isn’t helpful. It’s all pros and cons and electric cars are eliminating their cons faster than oil based cars.

I saw that the video was branded from the start and was a little concerned... but the content was factual, generic and unbiased so I walked away "Up Thumbing". It's possible that the negative responses are either people not watching the video and presuming content bias or the general anti EV campaign that is being pushed to the public. Well done on a straight up video and early disclosure.

@Krzysztof Mazurkiewicz Manufacturing all the machinery of an internal combustion engine isn't eco friendly at all. Drilling petroleum, transporting it, spilling it on beaches, seas and marine life, distilling it and ill disposing the waste products in lakes and leaking it to underground drinking water isn't eco friendly either. Not to mention the cornficts it causes

nah my friend this video is fine some videos take high effort, some low effort, it's not for the viewer to decide if you produce a blockbuster movie for every videos Some people just don't like sponsored content, some others just prefer a different brand, and some other just don't like change

@Dalr42 100% agree on this. Until now Derek has had a stellar reputation for being honest and sincere in his quest for scientific truth, and I want to like the video because I agree the future is electric. But this video was so off-mark in it's one-sidedness. I would love to see Derek redeem himself with a multi-part series on all aspects of batteries and the EV industry, everything good bad ugly and all the interesting stuff in between, done in the hallmark Veritasium style of being fun and educational, yet impartial and balanced. We'll let you off the hook this time Derek, as long as you please keep up the otherwise incredible work!

I think your producer was way more excited about this video/topic than anyone else has ever been about anything 😂

One vote for Dupechute! Also ... more videos narrated from ladders. I think the platform suffers from a serious dearth of ladder born narratives.

Crazily, I loved every minute of this video - I must be just way more basic than some of the more enlightened commentators on this. Keep up the great work. Going to go share with Facebook now, in hopes of interesting the 40-somethings in something more than buying kitchy face masks off Amazon. Thanks D!

It's amazing how you can spend tens, if not hundreds, of hours creating an amazing video, but in the end all that matters is that one extra hour tweaking thumbnails and titles to triple a video's success.

Thanks! It was super interesting

The natural frequency of that thing was hit pretty perfectly at 12:22 it seems, scary if it went on a few more seconds.
