Rome and Jazz work perfectly

Given that the Papacy and the Empire were at each other’s throats for centuries (often literally) I suspect Sylvester II’s close working relationship with the Ottonians was more damning than any alleged deal with the Devil, at least by the standards of later pontiffs.
10
Holy shit. Let's fucking go.

David is spoiling us with his amazing uploads. Thanks again for making this bro. I can't wait for the next part! The Pope invading Frederick II's lands after he goes on crusade has to be one of the top ten biggest betrayals in medieval history. Achieving what that king/Emperor did is nothing short of incredible. To not lose any men while reclaiming Christendoms most important city is mind-blowing.

I hope you do a video on king narmer the first king of a united Egypt

Hey this is supposed to be 2 hour long video that i watch in 1 sitting long lol stop this 20 minutes 3 parts woke bs haha

Just discovered this channel and I really enjoy the production and research quality. I think the issue is that you made the stated intention of the video series about the Holy Roman Empire when I feel like the Merovingians is a little too far removed to be related in a timely manner. I know I was a little thrown off starting a video about the HRE only to get a biopic ab Clovis and his ancestors in the mythical pagan forests of Belgica. That is not to say I found myself greatly enjoying it, finding myself extremely interested now in the Merovingian dynasty. It is one way to get people to learn about them but I think they are interesting all on their own. This title grabbing me immediately far more than the previous episode's.
9
That felt only like 25 minutes

Nice educational video 😊

Best Euro history channel right now is an American, wtf Lads.

Regarding Caracalla adding 30M to the Roman citizenry I’m reminded of the villain Syndrome from The Incredibles, “I’ll make everyone Super because once everyone’s Super, nobody is.”
9
Saw this on reddit. No, I can't remember having a single thought regarding the HRE in all my 62 years, but you're making it sound damn compelling. Liked & sub. Can't wait for E 2. All the best. ✌🙂

Henry has come to see us!
9
This has the potential to be great material for Spotify episodes.

Amazing work! :D If you’re taking feedback, I recommend using more maps or portraits to make events and names easier to follow. Like in the beginning you shortly mention who of the sons owns what, and then I immediately lose track of it when conquests start haha ^^’ Remember that people like me don’t know the source material as well as you after writing the script. I get it if your production budget doesn’t allow for it though. Can’t wait for the next episode :)

Amazing work!! I'm really glad i discovered your channel. I hope you get the attention you deserve!

Friedrich II was a chad

This channel is amazing

I hope you have great success with your channel brother. And my God Guide and protect you on your journey, and in general.

Can’t wait to Czech this out! ❤

I have to say, you will rise fast In popularity. Not only due to the quality of your work but also the topic. Your topics cover eras and empires which are usually skipped by most. Eg. Rome, then jump to HRE.. You covered the in-between which adds much needed socio-economic context and development. Moments of history that show " it could be all different be it not of this event". Or Akkad. You get Babylon and Sumer but not that much Akkad. So with your topics, combined with the quality, you are filling a rather empty niche on YT

You truly bless us with these glorious videos, never would have expected a full on travel documentary but oh it’s great! Thank you again!

Brilliant video - I'm loving the black-figure pottery graphics

This is one of the highest quality channels of this genre out there on youtube, and it's criminally underrated. You're going to blow up sooner or later.
8
Another great one. It feels too good to be true to have a solid history youtuber who puts out content regularly. I never thought I would be into Frankish history, so idk if I just got tired of Roman, greek, and Byzantine history or if your videos are just that good. Probably both.
8
Charlemagne was the greatest Roman emperor.
8
Mate, your content is unbelievable. Please keep doing it!
8
Constantine is the greatest. There's a nice statue of him an hour away from me (his dad died in the city of York in the North of England). Highly underrated by most people when compared to the likes of Augustus, Aurelian etc.
8
Such a well researched video!!! you deserve far too many views.I've always wondered about life in those earliest empires!
8
Amazing as always! Man I can't wait to see your take on the Lombards and the Visigoths
8
Never really cared for early medieval European history til now your videos really make learning this era fun keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see what you make next
8
blud is talented at history 💪

thank you. as a life-long Kubrick aficionado, this over view (and the use of Taschen's beautiful tome on Kubrick's Napoleon) is a welcome sight.
8
I don’t think he’s referring to Spengler which is just astrology for men, he’s referring to the obsession that our founding fathers had towards the Roman’s and how that shaped our nation.

I’m actually writing a pilot for a series like The Crown called “Boney.” Basically, the series traces Napoleon from being born on a remote island to dying on a remote island. The main arc being his Corsican influence eventually doomed him, that he become too much like the father he despised. The pilot starts with Lowe coming to St. Helena and bringing the hammer down on an already captive Napoleon, who yearns to escape and see his son again. Then it goes back in time as Napoleon dictates his memoirs to when the French invaded Corsica and his parents joined Paoli to fight them off. It ends with the Corsicans marching to war against the French.

Just annoying how the one time they wouldve been right to cast a person of colour and they went for milk skinned Rufus over here

Do you seriously think imma watch 58 minutes of pt 2 of the fall of the Carolingian Empire?!? Well, you would be damned right because I will!

New favorite history channel acquired

Now that I finished watching the video. Can I just take a moment to point out how amazing you're doing with your videos lately. I'm a huge fan of the long form format. This content is incredible. The music is stellar. The old movie clips you sprinkle in are amazing. If someone tells you to change this formula. You show them this comment. 😂😂 I loved how the organizational structure of this video was around the Lavrov quote. It was a wonderful touch for the basis of this video. Also, some constructive pointers to the end on top of my Internet soapbox. I don't believe Putin would like Stalin imo. We have to remember his brother died in the siege of Leningrad. That familial trauma stays with you you're entire life. The reason I bring this up is because Stalin made a lot of critically bad decisions before WWII. The great purge of the military, The winter war (which had Finland not intervened to fight with axis troops a lot less people would've died like idk maybe his brother?), Collectivization policies in Ukraine and in Kazakhstan, Trusting Hitler of all people to maintain peace and uphold the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. A lot of Soviet troops died because of his terrible decisions and that probably stuck with a lot of people. I think he would believe Gorbachev to be a better leader for enacting policies that ultimately led to the ending the communist system. Putin says the end of the USSR was a disaster for Russia not for ideological reasons but for geopolitical and economic ones. Thank you so much again for everything you do m8. Have a wonderful day and I hope 2024 has been going how you wanted it to so far.
