I loved this video and one thing I thought interesting was thinking about other events on the frontline while seeing Ukraine at it's best here. For example, early in the video we see operations really start to kick in around October 1st. That date also happens to be when Vuhledar fell. As we go along we see Ukraine smashing Russian counter offensive operations but, at the same time, Kurahove was falling. While I am impressed by Ukraine's performance in Kursk I do believe those troops would be better served around Pokrovsk now that Udachne is under attack or around Velka Novisilka due to the Russian advances their.

Good video, I like your overview. One suggestion, when comes to maps and icons. Could you switch to using a different colors for objectives? Since you've made UAF blue and AFRF red. On the maps there are blue objectives which are under control of blue. Also blue's targeted objectives which are still under red control are also colored blue. Looks a bit of messy. Blue is everywhere with no clear who is where. Perhaps you could do something like, OBJ which are under red control but is target of blue. To color circle red but text blue. While those who are under control of blue, to have both circle and text blue. Same for Red's goals. Or some other way to make it more clear who controls which OBJ.

Many of the POWs would be injured lads. 800 does not seem unreasonable to me if we are assuming a full battalion deployed to the town, that 100-200 guys getting out and that the Russians were working hard to cut the lines of supply and evacuation from the stronghold.

This channel is a hidden gem

Excellent classroom style video. You raise an interesting point: a pursuit was possibly not even planned for this operation. It is the only answer that makes sense. I also see a solid performance from RU reconnaissance for identifying and allowing for the breakthrough of gaps in UA lines. Another commendation for UA 36 S and their effective withdrawal to pre-built fortifications. As another said, I do recommend you work on audio quality, so that your excellent videos receive the quality they deserve.

Small feedback: In English, there should not be a question mark after this video's title.

Outstanding analysis.

Yet another excellent video, thanks

Russians invaded and did Bucha and Irpin, shut up

Why do you listen to this guy? He is obviously a disgruntled failed officer who is upset that he could not reach a higher rank than captain. Which says a lot, a captain is basically the first promotion after graduation of cadet school.

Things seem to be more fluid this week Looking forward to seeing analysis

5th ind guard tank brigade seems to be everywhere. There was a night evacuation that was hit hard trying to cross the river with artillery there was a video.

I read about the introduction of new EW equipment used during the minioffensive, with videos of russian fpv drones going black far earlier than in previous videos and mainly russian fiber optic drones being effective. The testing of this new equipment might have been the second goal of the suicide attack.

Great analysis Mark, thank you. On a tactical note: Such reactive fire from the Russian artillery in response to any form of counter attack (as observed in the video) is certainly a formidable obstacle when it comes to Ukrainian planning. It reminds me of how the Vietnamese learned to deal with the fire superiority of Americans. There is only an extremely short window of opportunity for the attacking forces to get “stuck in” with enemy forces if they wish to avoid the reactive fire through the threat of friendly fire. Obviously not a direct comparison, though, as I am not completely informed on Russian doctrine relating to firing artillery on contested positions.

36:26 That is indeed cringe. I know that crews do this in emergency situations, but holy shit, in the video I saw it looked more like they did it on purpose hunting them down. Maybe driver and commander hat a few screws loose after the previous 2 weeks of heavy engagement. I kinda doubt that they ran out of ammo as well. The Kursk region is currently the most well equipt and supplied region in this war. I guess they simply snapped.
2
Excellent analysis, as always. Keep going!
2
Köszönöm a videót!
2
Brilliant channel, good luck brother.
2
Great analysis. Would you be able to do a video on the different levels of artillery and how they would operate during a battle please. Maybe even have a description of the pieces at each level in another video. Thanks.
2
Your videos are always informative and interesting. Look foward to the next one.
2
The worst part is, imagine you are a soldier and know you just received an idiotic and suicidal order....what choice do you have?

Hiánypótló, sok sikert!

THESE VIDEOS WILL BE REFERENCED IN MILITARY ACADEMY REASERCH PAPERS IN A FEW DECADES PLEASE ADD TO INTERNET ARCHIVE❤ DONT LET THIS INFORMATION BE LOST TO TIME 😢

The sheer amount of Russian bots is truly a compliment of your quality. You got them pissed.

Ex- infantry here, Finding the content quite good, thank you! Not that I agree with everything, mind you. But I would rather have facts to dispute a claim rather than emotional baggage - if its even a claim worth it. As we can all only do our best to interpret at this time due to the real fog of war. So the comment section has been quite entertaining and brought many a smile to my face as well. I have a bit of remorse over that. As clearly most of them due not have any clue - at all - what combat infantry suffer, do and die for.
2
Great video! If possible, could You expand a little bit on the traits of soviet style leadership? Thanks!
2
Bro your videos are legendary. What a gem 💎. (Friendly suggestion) consider shortening the videos to 20 min. Thank u for this work again.
2
I find it funny how you are talking about breakthroughs from Russia and even exploitation fases and at the end you say they should retreat to a more easily defendable battle line. Who says they aren't trading ground for time already? That which you call breakthroughs... you'd make a video about Russians in the Pursuit fase if they'd make the retreat you recommended.
2
Thought provoking. A good change from battle analysis.

Köszönjük ! Ismét érdekes és informatív volt 😊

Love the videos man. Looking forward to the videos about western vs Russian military doctrine.
2
excellent, sir. thank you very much from Los Angeles

Thankyou for another great video Mark. Great explanation of the situation. Do you think the advances through to Andriivka followed the Soviet principle of re-enforcing successes?
2
Köszi Márk nagyon jo Video! :)

In future battle analyses, it could be a good idea to add date and time in the corner or some such other means of better tracking the tempo of operations. One channel, Montemayor, well known for their coverage of Pacific naval engagements during WW2, does this particularly well.

2
This is sound doctrine. The common name for it is "elastic defense". If someone is beating you up, they will beat you less badly if they apprend you will fight back. Counterattacks should always be a credible possibility in the enemy's mind
2
It's a very consistent criticism - where is the higher operational command for the UA forces?
2
First 😀

Curious question: is this an ‘absolute’ rule in English or just an academic rule? In my language (French), we have the same rule at university (for papers or student essays), at least in law schools, but in other contexts, using a question mark in a title is perfectly acceptable
2
You have the presentation down. You need a better mic it sounds bad quality, thats the only thing keeping me from rating this channel 10/10

This is brilliant - thank you! 🙏

Merci à vous!

Really love your videos! They’re the best battleground analysis I’ve ever seen. Please do the battle of Velyka Novosylka next.

very interesting. thank you

Wow! This is some amazing analysis! I really enjoyed it! Also, i find it very cool coming from a Hungarian soldier - a very fresh perspective! 🫡

For people interested to understand what is happening in the front i recomend Mark Takacs channel search the video: How the Ukrainians could have avoided the catastrophe at Velyka Novosilka Contrary to what the Host says, the cause of the collapse of the front is not due to the people's fatigue with the government but rather to important organizational gaps in the Ukrainian army, which does not have a structure above the Brigade. The Russians coordinate their attacks at the corps and division level while the Ukrainians only have separate brigades to confront Russian coordinated attacks.
