  1. I’m the only one left who helps my mom. She is now in a house she rents instead of an assisted living home. I wish there was some way for her to interact with more people. She can’t see well anymore. She gets lonely. But she never wants to go back to the assisted living facility. Thank goodness she has a dog now. And I’m grateful I can see her frequently. I just wish the family knew how much she loves and needs their support. Some day they will be in her position.

Watching this is actually scaring me because about a year ago I started having trouble walking and now I can’t even climb or descend the stairs, I’m always tired and my digestion is getting worse, I have a ton of medical problems and nothing seems to help. I also saw a video on how dying starts in the legs. So I really believe that it’s the end for me. I’m calling the doctor tomorrow and I’m only 56.

  6. I am so guilty, the past couple of years I need to minimize. I have been retired for 2 yrs, it took me a long time to give away my medical scrubs, although I had zero plans to reenter the field. Next I held on to business clothes and dresses that I no longer wear, I had a hard time parting with that pretty garment ..it is never going to be useful hanging in my closet gathering dust. My biggest purge was my engagement ring , I have been divorced for a while but I kept that ring until I had the opportunity to pass it on. I have always ❤ thrift shopping but I don't buy unnecessary items anymore. And I have all kinds of paperwork that I am afraid to even start on, old awards, resumes, divorce paperwork, I am a work in progress

  9. 3:05 I never thought I would feel so invisible. Moving into a nursing home was supposed to provide care and companionship, but instead, I feel forgotten. The world outside moves on, and even my own family seems to visit less and less. It’s heartbreaking to realize that out of sight truly means out of mind.

At 89 ,l am still home,made Bread pudding today,gave my friend next door ,half of it,l love my coffee,drink 9 cups,l drink tea,water,juice,Have C Heart F for over 9 years,God, Jesus, Holy Spirit,we talk all day, Father God wakes me with messages,l see visions, A pill l started taking hurt my belly bad l called out Arti Angel Refeal,the pain stopped instantly, l am blessed ,if l were in a Nursing Home,l could not hollow,sang, feel the Love full the room,they would think l was crazy,l am in Love with Jesus,

  15. I own an assisted living facility. Every state is different, but I would recommend shopping around and ensuring that all of your concerns are addressed before you move. Our facility is small, so we cater to people who prefer a more home-like environment. Our clients have complete control over their daily lives, including when to wake up, when to sleep, and when to eat. If someone does not like what is on the menu, they can choose something else—though it might be simpler, like soup and a sandwich or leftovers. So, shop around, and if you prefer a more home-like environment, consider a smaller facility.

  18. I hope things are getting a little better. I had a couple of issues I was trying to sort out, you remarks covered it all. I have looked at a facility where everyone. has their own little spartment. The one bedroom was very spacious and if my cat is still around she could come too. What thurned me off that place is the cook used too much pepper for me. I stopped looking because my health😊 improved and allowed 😅 15:04

  21. My grandfather is 82 and I've noticed his walking speed and grip strength getting weaker. We encouraged to him to walk and do light exercises and he's already feeling better! Thanks for these great insights, super helpful!

  30. I totally agree with this. I used to visit someone regularly in a nursing home and while he and the other people there were treated kindly by the staff, I was dismayed by the fact that the inmates were just sitting there, doing nothing. The TV was on constantly, but no-one was watching it. There were books people could borrow, but nobody was reading. It was absolutely depressing. I want to stay independent, living in my own home for as long as I can and if I get to the stage where I can't look after myself, I would rather just pass away naturally.

  31. I'm 76. I broke my hip 3 years ago and found I couldn't live in my condo. Everything was too difficult. As well condo buildings are often lonely places. Some are great but mine wasn't. I moved into a retirement home nearby. The minute I walked in the door I felt at home. The other residents, staff, and management are fantastic here. Everyone is so friendly, warm and caring and I have more friends now than ever before. Yes, things change dramatically. All of the items listed in this video are true but you find ways to replace them. Some people here still drive but there are also bus trips to the mall and other activities. Those who can't drive often get a mobility scooter or wheelchair and off they go to a nearby park or shopping. Taking a cab is a good way to get out. It's much less expensive than maintaining a car, insurance, gas, repairs, and the stress of traffic. There are so many more advantages to retirement living but my final thought is look at some homes get a feel for the atmosphere, talk to some of the residents and staff, and ask if you can stay on a trial basis.   32. I have been considering a nursing home, but after reading all the comments made, I feel you all saved my life. I know it's just a matter of time before my 82 year old husband or my 77 year old self when God calls us back home. We can afford to have someone come in and help us. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with this decision. Multimedia is apparently good for somethings.   33. I’m 88 years old—no pharmaceuticals, no doctors, and feeling great! I sleep 12 hours a night, don’t drink alcohol, fast-walk for 30 minutes five times a week, lift a little weight, and stay socially active. So far, so good—and I’m deeply grateful for it all! 🙏✨

  35. I'm 70 and a widow, but I still shave my underarms and legs. I still dye my hair. Still bath and use baby lotion all over my body afterwards. And I still dress like a queen 👑 and ware jewelry before I walk out of the house!😂😂😂

  36. I was a single mother that was giving every ounce of myself to my only son 24/7. He grew up a very strong and successful person. He is a good son. BUT I expected him to give me back at least a % of how I treated him. Of course, I was disappointed. You are right. I figured the only way I can feel loved is to love myself the way I love him. I became my own son. Fuss over myself the way I used to spoil him 24/7. No other way. ♥️

I am a female 78 years old I have renal failure 3B I used to be 30 now I'm up to 51 to 57 on my GFR my doctor says I'm doing very good and what you said was very interesting I don't have all the vitamins that you're talking about but I do try to eat as much as I can and veggies strawberries any kind of fruit and vegetables I have turkey chicken fish me I am in porterville California

  45. i pushed myself to do as much as I could to get out of that nursing home/ rehab. I was in hospital in March 2023 got out and then a major blood c;lots/ Mowved on and I stayed thru 610/23. too long but I had to learn to walk again. I am there now it is two months and It will be a year of struggle. I have come a long way baby. Learning to walk bath by slef. My range of motion is improving and I can dress myself without too much trouble. I have started to cook again and fix for my son and his wife. Got rid of the the stair hospital bed. I even drove myself to meet my sister 80 miles to do alittle casino slots. Drove mysleld to the doctors. So I am fighting and hope I never have to go back. I agree with this video you loose yourself and independence in the nursing home and no privacy.

  48. There's nothing better than having your own place - with your freedom, time and mood to do your own thing. I just turned 72 a few days ago, and I feel great, thank you Lord. All by myse;f in my own bungalow-shack, I have my own world- massive red bougainvilleas at the front yard in bloom due to hot weather and as Lenten season is fast approaching, and a mango tree at the back,Where I try to pluck some with a long stick. I thank the universe for my life.
