  5. My mother has been in 3 so called good old age homes. One was worse than the next. They treated her roughly, neglected her, left her 7 hours after a stroke begore callingme, refused to put her down for a nap when she needed one. Treated her like a mental patient. Save money for an independent carer!

  7. I am 80 year-old woman. I moved from OH to GA just recently, in order to be closer to my son/family. I lost my husband 10 years ago. Since then, my son has been asking me, on and off, if I want to move closer. But I didn’t see the need until now. So I moved 500+ miles away from Midwest to South, from what I have been accustomed for the last 50+ years. But the move itself, sorting/packing my household items and selling/buying the property, was so difficult; much more than I imagined. I regretted over and over thinking that I made the biggest mistake in my whole life, and broke down several times. I told my friends in OH that I saw only a pin-hole size of light at the end of the tunnel. I have been living under stress and anxiety for the last four months. But today I came across this video which has changed my attitude toward looking forward in my new future; finding new friends, starting again my old hobby (sewing), which I haven’t done since the pandemic, and new hobby I found online (oil paint by numbers); etc. Thank you so much for putting this video up!

I am 73 years old and I hate being alone and especially living in a senior building with people who have dementia, at my age I even think very seriously about going back to work, getting a job would be the best thing for me and would feel much better, where I live it's very depressing and living with people who have dementia makes it even more depressing.

  23. All the points you raised are on point! I will definitely share this with my fellow seniors. Both my hubby and I are retired and having worked in nursing homes ourselves, we are one in wanting to spend the remaining years of our lives as independently as possible. We live in an apartment complex that's rented to elderly people in their 80s and even 90s. Although quite a number have health issues and other mobility restrictions, they manage to live on their own and are apparently happy.

  28. Why should we be so worried about leaving this earth. Healthy or not, young or old, wealthy or poor,.we all will die. We are lucky if we died young and Godly so we can escape difficulties. We just have to be good though so when we die heaven is our dwelling. The world is nothing but an elimination ground..we are here to be good and follow God's commandment.. when we die you will be in a beautiful place called heaven.

  29. I'm a retired caregiver and I must say that's no place for anyone. They only want your money as well as your family members. If you talk too much about leaving, or try to leave on your own you will be medicated. And out of the whole nursing home you only have a few people who care. The rest will be beat, and starve you to death if you can't feed yourself. It won't matter if you report the caregivers. Again, they just want your money. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

  31. Number 4, at 83 I have had sleep problems for years, due to a shoulder problem I can only sleep on my right side and as a result am troubled by restless sleep. I thought it was because of being diabetic. I will now have a word with my doctor to see if we can fix things.

  33. This is an interesting video. But please bear in mind, that not every senior citizen fits into this category. There are many, that thrive on being alone, rather than dealing with other people’s drama. I follow the philosophy of the Bible, which relates to how the birds 🦅 never worry about their next meals. In other words, I choose to put my faith in my creator, and “Be (still), and (know) that He is God.” It has brought me through many difficult times thus far. I stopped depending on people years ago, and He has never let me down…….

  36. Wow thanks for your information about about daycare. I’m 74 years old and I’m still active in doing things on my own. I’m stillm driving. I’m very happy with living with my son. I cooked my own food. But thank you for taking about these issues. I’m very happy with my life living with my son. God bless him and I to have the strength to keep moving on.   38. This is all good information about ugly habits that older people have, But it should be remembered that the older generation was raised to pursue a lifestyle to make them happy and secure. We spend a life time to reach that lifestyle and security only to have the whole world system change, and we are forced to a totally new system, plus morals and values that we were not taught or prepared to deal with. Only to be told by younger generations that we must step outside of our comfort zones, and except situations we may not agree with that are totally uncomfortable or even alien to what we were raised and taught to deal with. And while it may be true that we are forced to adapt to the constant changes, it does not make it easy to do. It also does not make it easy for older people, when the younger generation tries to force the changes upon you, and then criticize, or belittle you, if you do not like or agree with them.

  50. Friendships are often about seeking social approval or belonging when you're young. By your 70s, you've established your identity and legacy and no longer need external validation. Satisfaction now comes from within rather than depending on the opinions of others.
