Amazing descriptions, you guys depict such vivid scenes

"History's greatest monkeys soon." What a cliffhanger! Thanks for the great episode on Carthage.
21
"Is there a spa?" I was saying it at the exact same time.

A truly excellent series - most entertaining & informative ! 👍👍

Brilliantly presented.

Appreciate the effort put into these! I like the intros to camera

Damn, you two make history interesting. A great pairing. Thank you for this series.

Until 1916, it was a statutory requirement for all members of the British Army to wear a moustache. Uniform regulation command number 1695 stipulated “the hair of the head will be kept short. The chin and the under-lip will be shaved, but not the upper lip…”. Mustaches were trimmed back or shaved with the urgent need for a good seal on a gas mask.

Such splendid storytelling!!! Keep at it!

This is a nice surprise before I go to work
19
Thank you both for so entertainingly educating us about history.
19
These 2 are national treasures
18
I've been listening to seasons 1 and 2 over and over, waiting for this day.
18
That was an adorable thing to witness. Both the History Lads looked SMASHING in their Saville Row suites, and it was an odd sort of privilege to see the process of their becoming suited unfolding. (Suitification?) Who doesn't love a glimpse of master tailors at work? And one last thought: Waistcoats ARE as elegant as eff, and Tom was RIGHT to have one!
18
I wanted to thank you for the work you put into the podcasts I enjoy, everyone. Best wishes for Christmas and the new year. X
18
Merry Christmas, Tom & Dom. Tom "Paulinus" Holland, your prose rocks! I'm reading Rubicon right now and am enjoying it.
18
Did you do the animations yourselves? Henry V's eyebrows are great. When his left eye goes up his smile broadens. I think he likes that.
18
Merry Christmas boys. There’s so little about Charlemagne in pop culture. I’ll enjoy this. 🎄
18
Brilliant episode! Just one reminder: "When you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear flowers in your hair!!
18
Tom, how smart do you look!
18
Love this podcast form of The Rest Is History! Keep it up please.
17
What an amazing bit of history... Excellent Tom and Dom.
17
I always enjoy Tom Holland. His books are well worth reading.
17
Thank you for a thoroughly informative and fascinating episode. I recently discovered your podcast, and I am besotted. I appreciate your fascinating discussions on variety of intriguing issues and people and your courage to cover controversial subjects with objectivity. Thanking you from North Carolina 🇺🇸.

That was wonderful, thank you so much. I didn't know Nelson was in the American colonies when the British Navy evacuated Loyalists. Some of my grandma's ancestors were on those ships headed to Nova Scotia. Thank you for mentioning the Black Loyalists. They deserve a whole episode one day.
17
Relaxing, jovial, "light but serious", intriguing, entertaining and so informative and educational! You guys are great.
17
Holiday morning here in USA...best moment is a quote of Nelson...more juicy than any turkey
17
I could listen to the three of you for hours.
16
Another brilliant episode, thanks both we all really appreciate it!
16
Happy New Year Gents!
16

"The American Revolution . . . not all bad." Love it!
16
Believe it or not, the rest is history is also listened to by Frenchmen, myself being one of them, keep up the good work, or else…. Revolution
16
I'm from a village about 20 km from Wieluń, Poland, where the first bombs were dropped. This series is very special to me. Love your videos, keep up the good work! ❤
16
Your self-deprecation, achieved by friendly banter, goes a long way to making even the most ernest of subjects somehow palatable to either side of the argument. As a pensioner, I would say that your chemistry is pretty well unique in broadcasting. Well Done!
16
I've been looking forward the resumption of this story. A tangled tale entertainingly told.
15
This is my dream RiH series. Fascinated with that period in American history and am now about 1m pages in to the Robert Caro biogs. Here's to what I feel certain will be a Dominic tour de force!!
15
Season two!👏👏👏
15

Dom’s thumbnail face is hilarious
15
Thanks. This is the topic that I first listened to when I first discovered your channel. Happy to hear you come back to wrap up the revolution, s2 ep1!
15
A terrible piece of history told with just enough examples. Class and balance, thank you.
15
This is the most delightfully enthusiastically joyful series on you tube. I so enjoy your great story telling skills and thank you both for such fabulous entertainment 😊
15
Brilliant podcast as always Gents. 1968 was such a fascinating year, and having it recounted so richly was a treat. Even more so as I was born on the same day LBJ gave his resignation address to the nation. So looking forward to the rest of the series. 👏🏼👏🏼
