It amazes me how you are able to help us follow along on an adventure with the way you use your camera it almost makes me think you have a camera man following you where ever you go.   7. Excellent channel!! I'm an old US Navy Veteran and I absolutely adore the thought and progress of the project boats. More power to it. You not only kept your canals but you still have Kings and Queens and princes and princesses. No wonder some of us America s believe you live in a charming delightful fairy tale land!   9. Dear Vanessa, Every time I watch your videos my heart sings out. You are always so positive and manage to capture that in your videos. Keep doing what you are doing. If I may offer a suggestion, when you need to pull Alice Grey into the shore with a line, bring the line across the back of your hips and then lean into the line. Doing this will help prevent any possibility of injury to your shoulders. Hope you stay on the canals until you grow as old as your nan lol. Mark Alberta, Canada

  11. You mentioned one of the positives of narrowboating. On that subject I ordered myself a 5 year diary, with the intention of using it as a gratitude journal. I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to write in it, nor was I sure if I'd be able to find 5 things a day to be grateful for. But I came up with a plan to use my senses to help me. I would write down one thing I could see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Well that was it, I was off! By the time the diary arrived I'd written down so many things that I was able to back date it right up to January 1st! 😂 I write in it every day and I am currently a day ahead of myself because I feel like my world is so full of abundance that I regularly run out of space on the page I'm on. And guess who's name went in there a few days ago... Yours Vanessa! ❤

  26. Thanks so much for today's adventure. My tips for canal way of life, based on my observation of you. 1. Have the right temperament, you seem so suited for all you encounter. 2. Have a secondary hobby, your interests separate from the canal boat, your poetry and artwork can keep you occupied for many hours. I think many people like the idea of the canal adventure but would not know how to deal with the idle time. It takes a special person and mental state to deal with the whole package. Great job, I admire you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. So glad you share it all with us want a be's. Enjoy stay safe. Marc P.S.   39. Hello from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦. I stumbled across your Youtube channel and have binge watched your amazing journey from start to current with absolute delight. Although I have never been to the UK, I have an affinity for this wonderful country. My Nana hailed from Yorkshire, born in 1890 and shared so many fascinating stories. There is a Canal System close to where I live that is a treasure. The Trent–Severn Waterway is a 386-kilometer (240 miles) long canal route connecting Lake Ontario at Trenton to Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, at Port Severn. Construction began in 1833 but was not complete until 1920 42 locks, including two ‘Flight’ locks, two ‘Lift’ locks and a ‘Marine Railway’ lock. Parks Canada maintains and operates these national historic sites to make travel possible for boaters and paddlers along this beautiful waterway. The Province of Ontario also has two other major Canal Systems that you could take a ‘Google’ peek at, the Rideau Canal & the Sault Ste. Marie Canal. Your unique ability to verbally and photographically portray the lives of those who lived and worked on the canal systems is what sets you apart from all the other narrow boating channels out there. It's fascinating that a young Tom Rolt took his bride Angela on a four-month trip on a narrow boat, wrote a book about the journey, which was published in 1944. The book is credited with reviving interest in the English canals, leading directly to the creation of the Inland Waterways Association. They spearheaded the restoration and leisure use of the canals. Now, eighty years later, you are continuing that work on a truly global scale through the use of this medium.👏🏻

Okay, I already know this is going to be a long comment, because there's just so much good stuff about which to comment! 1:00 the reason there aren't many leaves left is because the wind blew them all across the pond into my yard😁; 6:45 I'll guess a red kite (but don't enter me in the contest because I'm already getting the artwork in the calendar); 8:50 loving the lock paddle dance; 11:00 that ancient church is inspiring and stunning all at the same time; 13:25 now that's some slime mold I could get behind (much nicer than that rather unpleasant stuff from a couple of videos ago); and finally 15:17 the expression on Zephyr's face when you had the audacity to ask her "should we leave it..." If doggy looks could kill.🤣
