  22. I’m so sorry for your loss. My daughter passed away last summer and just when I need her most one of her fave songs plays, or dragonflies and butterflies appear once in a while. I’ll even have a feather. It’s just been a year and I need those signs. Believe in them as they will help you because each day they are gone is one day. We are closer to being with them again.❤

  23. Lovely, subtle shading you did on your goose sketch, Vanessa - that's not easy to get right, especially drawing on white paper. Also brill to hear you quoting Ted Hughes - what a fine poet he was. I especially love his animal poetry - like you, he was acutely aware of, and grateful for the wonders of Mother Nature. On my wall, I painted a quote from Ted Hughes, which is from a letter he wrote to his son, who was finding it hard to come to terms with the suicide of his mother, Sylvia Plath. Ted wrote to him - 'Live your life like a mighty river.' I love this quote, because rivers never stand still, do they? They never flow backwards - they just keep on heading towards the sea, which is their destiny.

Zephyr As labradors go, this one is special, I brought her home one day because she's rather clever, With her great wagging tail, Like a metronome beat, I never get tired of her muddy feet, She's my companion to ride, As on our canal adventures, we glide, She loves her toy and brings me great joy, For she makes my day as I watch her play, With her stick in hand, a moorning we'll land, then it's off home for tea, Zephyr and me.   39. I’ve been watching that channel covering the canal breech, it’s just devastating but a miracle that no boats were moored there or passing by when it gave way. Not even any boats pulled down the canal with the rushing water, it’s just a miracle !!!! Watching all those who live on narrowboats and the local communities coming together to help those stranded is just wonderful. Folks living near the breech were bringing food, flowers, supplies, building safe gangways for boats that will be there for weeks or months !!! I’m glad you are in a safe place

  43. So glad your carrying on. The inland waterways is our heritage and must stay open and active. You show us that there is still some beautiful countryside and wildlife in our land. Without our canal system a lot of this would disappear too. You and cruising the cut should be ambassadors to fight to keep them open. Take care 🙏💕

  45. If people buy a boat to live on as cheap housing then they are mistaken, but as a cruising life style it is a bargain i think. I f the license for a CCer was 3k a year i think it is great value for what you get, could be better as in everything, but what a life you can have compared to living in a crappy town. Great video as always.
