  5. If you’re judging Jada… look in the mirror. I have a very similar experience to some of Jadas experience especially in marriage and also see things the same she does… so few people understand where she’s coming from. It’s a meta view and if you are feeling challenged or triggered or disgusted by her… there is some work in you that needs some attention. I was blamed for our marriage in how our marriage came apart but only because they didn’t know the behind the scenes of his part in it… and it goes deep. I wasn’t going to put his stuff out there to help people understand but I did encumber the blame and judgment for it and he knew. He even asked what can he do to move forward and start fresh and I told him “be honest”. People don’t like honest because it shatters their world and really turns it upside down. Instead they get nasty. I agree with the “betraying self” to be sacrificing bit and how that can really work against you. It can be the source of a lot of challenges and issues.

  6. This is great! Mel Robins talks about the "5 second rule". No, not the one where if you pick up a piece of food within 5 seconds of it touching the floor, it's still acceptable to eat. ...No, that's not the 5 second rule Mel is talking about. She is talking about when you have a thought pop in your head... such as, "I should work out"...you should immediately act on that thought and start doing it, within 5 seconds, before your brain talks you out of it. It's another layer that can go with what Dr. Nicole is talking about in this video above and it's been super helpful for me. Also knowing THIS hidden secret: YOU WILL NEVER FEEL LIKE IT. You're not broken because you have no motivation. It actually means you're normal. It takes great self discipline to force yourself into action and new habits. This is complete validation! lol I'm a therapist and I teach these principles to my adolescents and teens in middle school ("Know Your Audience" so they can anticipate reactions; "Use your intuition" for protection from dangers in life and not silence it; "Disagree Tactfully" so you can have a conversation of differing opinions and not an argument, listen to LEARN not to ARGUE and be RIGHT because they may give information that triggers a shift for you.) YES!! Reframing is also a therapeutic technique I teach parents (You can yell all their flaws at them or you can acknowledge their mistake and talk to them about how and why to make a different choice)

  13. When I discovered my ex-husband cheating, my brother said I should consider it an act of war and proceed accordingly. I fought that a long time, I rationalized it, empathized, tried to "save" the marriage, until I was nearly completely crushed. So, take it from someone who needlessly suffered and barely survived it -- cheating is like Pearl Harbor or 9/11. You didn't expect the attack, but you damn well better get off your sad a$$, face it for what it is, and fight. The sooner you do that, the better you'll fare. Defending yourself, defeating the enemy, raizing the rubble, and rebuilding on new ground are your only chance of having any kind of life again.

  14. I started working at a Fed Ex in Ohio. I met a guy who right away brushed me off as someone he didn’t want to work with. I was in my late 50’s. I knew right away something was off about him and especially after he preferred working with the younger girls in his area. I basically forced myself into that work area because I didn’t give a shit as to what “He” wanted. Long story short, we started working together more and he then started telling me about another young lady that worked there. And he showed me pix of her etc… He would talk about her wayyyyy to often. I told him he should stop obsessing over her because she was not reciprocating the same feelings. One morning he came to work and was showing me what he got her for Christmas. He had murdered her before he came in that morning. Go with your gut. Turns out, he was also taking pictures of our ass while working. I had to be a character witness. He got life without parole.

Partly, bc of abusive childhood and harmful female socialization making me unable to stand up for myself. I work on being most badass, unchained version of myself now at 28.   39. I find communicating super easy. Its second nature to me and I am a 'only child'. Why people gravitate towards me is because I talk to 'everyone' regardless of who they are or what they look like. I'll never forget the cleaner at our hospital. Button missing from his shirt, an older quiter polite black gentleman. After talking to him it turned out he was classically trained as a pianist & tutored in his spare time. Never turn your nose up at people because they are the ones who are the 'most genuine' & you can learn a lot of 'life lessons' from them.
