  3. That second building almost looks like an old church, that is the saddest part of these videos, the churches and the schools. This town looks beyond desolate. I love scary old places but I think I would skip this town. Just from the video it seems haunted by bad luck and no hope. Maybe it's the season, but even the trees seem hopeless. I hate to say it, but the word to describe this poor town is hopeless. Very sad and I'm sure the people there would disagree. Thank you for the video and stay safe!!

  4. I appreciate that you show a balance of dilapidated homes, closed and open businesses and an industrial area. Not many services or things to do in Clairton. As my grandmother with Alzheimer's would say "What a lovely town!"

  13. You really picked the perfect day to film this... dark, overcast late winter day, which Im sure was a cool, if not cold day, adds to dreariness, and gloom. I've never been to Detroit, but that's really sad to see, just the same. Im in Dallas, and although Im sure there are pockets around town may be similar to that, but I know of none, and I've been here since 1969. My heart goes out to people who have lost there way of life theree, and I hope those that left altogether found a better life. Great video.👍🏿

  18. Those wrap around porches early in the video were gorgeous! Made the houses seem quite grand. The American flags, a symbol of pride in our country, seemed oddly out of place in front of buildings and a town that America seems to have all but forgotten.

  21. I live in upstate ny,the country side looks about the same. I love seeing things from down south, because I can't take the heat anymore. I will probably never get to see the places again,only on video like this. THANK YOU, BLESS YOU AND YOURS

  22. I will never cease to be surprised at seeing a row of completely abandoned and ruined homes, with a single home still lived in. The one at 0:50 got me. Decorative lights and kids toys outside. Right next to all that rot and decay. Quite the dichotomy.

  27. When I watch videos like this I always think about what the walls of those properties have seen & heard. The laughter & tears. Hope & disappointment. Happiness & grief. Love & pain. All of that human emotion & energy just rotting away being absorbed by nature.

  31. I'm house bound so I love these ride a longs ! We used to do this in the 60's we would just drive out into the country and each time just turn off on a road we had never taken before, there are some really cool places out there.

  34. Been going through that town since early 2000s when the H-M trails opened up, never had a bad experience there and all the people we encountered were always helpful!! We stayed in Man and Terry Fekete always gave us great history and info on the area

  38. I live in railroad hamlet called Cluny in Alberta, Canada. Use to be a hustle and bustle place back in the day. Now our population is around 65. I'd love to explore this place. Thanks for taking your time to provide us with such great content.

  45. Wow. Thanks so much for sharing this video. When people talk about poverty today, the people living in these mountains are rarely part of the conversation. Reminds me so much of where I grew up in Somerset county Pa. I'll never forget the coal miners coming out of the mines covered in black when my family went to church Sunday mornings. Yet, you will not find more helpful and genuine caring people anywhere.

  48. I've seen several videos and accounts of Thurmond, and I like the place. It's never seemed creepy to me even though it's almost deserted. I'm so glad they are preserving what is left, which is quite a lot considering the size of the place. Nice video. I hope you enjoyed your visit to this unique place. Thank you!
