  4. Well, a tributary state ain't exactly China's land. Just as Huns extorting Eastern Roman Empire, doesn't mean that they were subjects to the Huns, or how Alaric deciding whose the Emperor of Rome meant it's Visigothic lands. But I guess that depends on how one defines sovereignty over these lands. Is it based on allegiance, influence, or the level of autonomy?

  9. By the time of reconquista - which was well until the late 11th and early 12th century (4-500 years later), Europe had changed dramatically. The descendants of many of the Germanic tribes had taken up residence in England, France, Germany etc and had adopted Christianity. The Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne, the Crusades were all galvanizing forces that united western Christendom. Then you had the more belligerent popes like Urban II and Innocent III that fully endorsed armed pilgrimages.

  11. irish K Actually this problem is only prevalent in selected parts of Northern India. We are desperately trying to get rid of it. It sadly has been ingrained to some societies. We eradicated polio, hope we will eradicate this too in the future.

  15. Biohazard customers - .for example - Guy who spit-talks. Usually spit talkers are harmless occasionally one will follow up with something you didnt want to hear after having bits of their spit hit your face. ''....ah yeah, here's my card...... ugh..i hope it doesn't overcharge.... and uh, if you could please make it not too hot, i have this infection of my mouth, these sores and so if........ ok i appreciate thanks'' . Or recluse slobbish guys who have strange 'spots' on their zipper area or warty looking hands. oozing sores beneath dirty old bandaids. etc etc etc Stalkers - Guys who stalk a girl working. They usually pretend they hadn't remembered the workers shift, ''oh, working today huh?'' and make terrible small talk never growing the nads to be straight forward, instead they creep around, ''hey was that you and your boyfriend walking downtown yesterday? I was gonna say hi but i was late for work'' (but she keeps it vague and conversation very short simply stating, ''no'') And he still pushes thee issue ,''oh it wasn't ....... so your boyfriend wasn't there either?'' and proceeds to hang awkwardly in the corner slowly sipping the coffee keeping tabs on her while pretending to be casual, occasionally trying to charm with forced humor or impress with 'intellect'..... each day til he finds out she has a boyfriend. Though he returns again and again unable to accept or even care she is taken and eventually gives up or starts holding a grudge, becoming rude. Headphones guy - only talks, can't hear what youre saying. usually these are guys and actually the most efficient/quickest customers though if you screw up what so ever they will become an insta-bitch, though briefly and to the point yet leaves you aggravated for approx 10 minutes. ,''n-n-no-no....i asked for two, not one, but two... forget it!'' ( stone cold face, pays quick and leaves). Also, delusional customer who justifies their own mistake and even though youre nice about making them another order, they will act irritated like it was your fault wasting their time funny video btw, enjoyed....

  17. It should be disclosed that the reader is just an actor with a nice voice but he is just reading a manifesto. Obviously there is nothing wrong with that but the casual reader should know that this is just propaganda.

  18. It's really hard to not whine when people verbally and sometimes physical abuse you because of something so miniscule. Many people work at Starbucks because it pays for their education, which is required to get a ""real"" job.

  25. Very good video! I'm glad you presented actual history and avoided the myths and misinformation that people usually pass off as fact. A couple of things that were glossed over (for anyone in the comments that's interested): - The Mexica settled on that island in part because they were being chased by the army of the king of nearby city state (because they killed and skinned his daughter). The triple alliance was formed in a rebellion against the previous dominant city state in the region. - Cortes had not originally come to Mesoamerica with the plan to conquer the Mexica. The Spaniards didn't even know they existed. He was part of a trading expedition from Cuba which he had commandeered. At first they traded and raided in the Yucatan, but were told (through a complex chain of translation) that they could make a lot more money in the west. He founded a small colony Veracruz. He gained some fame from winning a few battles and was contacted by ambassadors from the Mexican empire, with impressive gifts of gold. Seeing as he was a wanted criminal and the governor of Cuba wanted his head, he had two options: gather troops and wealth or surrender and go to jail. He went with option one, scuttled his ships (so his men couldn't abandon him), and started the conquest as the video says.

  31. Agreed. I have this problem as well when I'm recording my voice. Deep and low means that things don't come through clearly. Raise your voice and clarify your pronunciation of words so that they don't blur into each other, and I think the result will be much better over all.
