I would always try and make the older folks laugh, smile, and pick their brains about the past. Nothing better than coming into work and seeing older folk's face light up when they see you cuz they know you care about them and listen when they talk. Love is the answer, simple as that

  7. Hay Jim, I am 53, my wife of 31 years separated from me on the first of Jan this year, I was totally blindsided had no idea we had any issues. She wants to explore her spiritual side outside of the family unit, she also now thinks she may be gay. We have four older children one still at home 16 and I have had to leave my home to heal, I am spending my days, at the beach, walking in the city, going to botanical gardens and art galleries. The excruciating pain and trauma has left now and I wouldn't wish the pain I felt on anyone. Though she hurt me so deeply I still love her and probably always will. One thing I know for sure the only way forward for me is to love my self and be in the moment as much as I can. The pain may never go away but over time it will be lighter to carry. My life has changed forever and so have I. I look forward to the unknown at what love I can give and what love I receive. Thank you for your time.

  9. My hubby passed away recently at the age of 40 and i realized how we are not promised tomorrow, we are not promised the next hour. Not everyone who leave the house today will get back home. My hubby and i never really traveled he would always say next year. When that year came then its again next year because he was so consumed with work. Its always work! Time is so precious, and i wish I had more time with my hubby to just be at his feet and enjoy his presence even if it was at the parking lot of walmartšŸ’”

  15. I set my life goals at age 15 - retirement by age 50! I married as a teen, got to work, finished college and started a business. We raised 5 kids, lived way beneath our means, remained debt free and saved/invested money. In my 30's, we bought a house with a mortgage that was paid off in 10 years. By age 50, we were ready to retire but worked another 5 years just to sharpen the saw. It's been 6 years, and life is wonderful! Most of our peers who lived on credit have zero net worth with no viable plans for retirement. Today, my only stress in life is pickleball.

I visit him and spend as much time as possible with him, so I've noticed how important, people, such as yourself are.   26. Iā€™m 24, so no where near as versed in life as most of the people commenting. Iā€™ve run into what I would call my first real rock bottom situation financially and mentally. Iā€™ve come to realise Iā€™ve been wasting my first half of my 20ā€™s trying to live up to other peoples expectations thinking Iā€™ll achieve self worth from it and am slowly shifting my perspective. Also wasted a lot of time drunk trying to run from things.   28. A thought provoking video. I've learned that life is like a theme park, each ride being an experience. I've learned that everything is temporary. Relationships, jobs and friends all temporary. You go from ride to ride to ride, having fun and good experiences on the way. If you read the comments under this video you will see the common thread is that everyone is experiencing the temporary nature of the theme park ride. Never ever believe that what you have today you will still have tomorrow. So enjoy it while it lasts.

  34. I retired at age 53, so I am in my early 60s. Many of them resisted me because they couldn't understand the idea of not working if it wasn't necessary. I considered the phases of my life. I worked very hard to achieve what I have now, but in my last years, I owe it to myself to "stop and smell the roses." In my instance, I departed the nation after retiring and currently reside in Latin America. It made it possible for me to appreciate my new surroundings while escaping all the bad things that were going on in America. Nobody that I know of regrets retiring has yet to come to me.

  37. This really hit home for me. I just turned 55 a few days ago, have graduated from high school over 37 years ago, and of those 37 years I spent almost 18 of them being a caregiver to my mom until she passed away last year. I was amazed at how quickly life had flown by and questioned if I should've been a little more selfish instead of selfless. Just as I was starting to try to find my footing, I suddenly had to deal with damage to my home with an insurance claim, and a minor health issue. As the claim is coming to a close and my health has improved, I am still questioning how to move forward with my life and find some purpose. But if I can give one sliver of advice to the younger generations watching this video, like Jim said, DO NOT WASTE ANY PRECIOUS TIME. Time flies by quickly and you can't get it back!

  39. We just had our 40 year HS reunion; of our graduating class of about 380, so far 42 have passed away, none of them reaching 60 years old and few made it into their 50s Life flies. As I stood there looking at the memorial table with all their pictures, I thank God that I was blessed to know these beautiful souls and thanked Him for sustaining me all these years and beyond šŸ™šŸ¼

  40. Hi Jim, I donā€™t usually leave comments on videos but this one really hit home. Iā€™m addicted to the internet and have wasted away most of my 20ā€™s and early 30ā€™s laying in bed scrolling my phone and partying in clubs. Never had a girlfriend. This video really helped me reflect on what I spend my time doing. I went through an absolute mess of a depressive psychotic episode in 2013 and Iā€™ve made strides in improving my situation- starting to create a career for myself of which I am proud of. However, I need to better establish what I do with my time and I definitely need to talk more positively about myself. Thanks again.

  41. I am 66, have been married to my first wife for 43 years, have two wonderfully stable children, and feel uniquely blessed. I recently retired from a job that I held for 38 years. I have many pleasant memories of work, colleagues, and accomplishments. With that said, I was growing up, but not living. In retirement now, I do have the opportunity to start again. I can do what I want, when I want. I have taken on two jobs, one just to have pocket money, the other to give back. Yet, I am a product of my upbringing, when I do feel time to rest and regroup, it is around family. Throughout my years on this planet, I would say the most important thing one will ever be privileged and humbled to have, next to the Almighty Himself, is a relationship with family. Never lose that would be my counsel.

  49. I got lucky by discovering this in my early 40's and it changed my life. We all feed off of each others energy, if you don't believe me try spending a day handing out compliments or helping others even with simple tasks rather than only focusing on yourself and see how much more fulfilled you feel at the end of your day. Even when they don't thank you or reciprocate you'll still feel better about you and you will sleep like a baby. I'm now 54 and the happiest I've been since childhood and all it cost me was a little kindness.
