Ever cold-turkey opiates? It’s rough.
On the plus side, once you walk through that hell, you can handle anything and quit any other bad habit. It also can make you curious about why you feel the way you do medically. So you research body chemistry.
Overthinking isn’t always a bad thing lol
Besides, they don’t help that much with “pain” to begin with. They alter your perception of pain and make you feel good so you stop caring about the pain. Totally different from say an analgesic or NSAID
Also sex, weed, and massages help. Anyone that says different hasn’t been on them.
Unfortunately, most of the time it is beyond anyone’s control what their body becomes physically addicted to, especially after a major medical procedure that requires months of intense rehabilitation
